Chelsea did just enough to see off another three points in their Europa League campaign and can build on this with a short trip down to the South-Coast on Sunday. The Saints come into this without a win in the last four so the onus is on them to turn this around.

Chelsea are without a win in the last two Premier League games having drawn the last two. The Blues will be keen to overturn this trend and should be too strong for the south coast outfit. Expect Chelsea to keep this neat and efficient and would not be surprised if they end the weekend with a tidy victory here.

Team News

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is without Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele, Vincent Janssen, Serge Aurier and Jan Vertonghen for the welcome of Cardiff. Michel Vorm is a doubt for the home side, though with Hugo Lloris back at full fitness, he was unlikely to have started anyway. Finally, Danny Rose and Eric Dier could come in for Ben Davies and Victor Wanyama from the side that started the 4-2 loss to Barcelona on Wednesday night.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has no fresh injury concerns to worry himself about, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Lee Peltier and Aron Gunnarsson all side-lined. The Bluebirds boss could name the same XI that started the 2-1 home loss to Burnley last weekend.

Potential Southampton Starting XI: McCarthy, Soares, Vestergaard, Hoedt, Bertrand, Redmond, Hojbjerg, Romeu, Lemina and Ings

Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso, Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Giroud and Hazard

The Verdict

Chelsea will be well backed at 8/13 and expect they may go off as short as 8/15 or 4/7 come kick off with the blues getting off to a great Premier League campaign keeping pace with Manchester City and Liverpool.

Chelsea play a typical short pass, possession-based game, often in their opponents half attacking through the middle. Southampton are not the greatest at defending attacks down the wings, so vulnerable at defending Chelsea scoring opportunities as the blues create position and space.

With the stats in general favouring Chelsea winning all of the last six, the misery of home form for Southampton will not be easy to rub off. Although Chelsea won both encounters by a single goal last season, bouncing back from two successive draws will be high on the agenda to maintain position in the league.

A win is strong on the cards, and winning the game by more than one will produce an odds against return with the guarantee that a win by a single goal will produce a void bet ergo stake refund.
