Tottenham v Arsenal Betting Preview
Venue: Wembley Stadium
Watch: BT Sport
This weekends much-anticipated early kick-off sees a battle of North London rivals, as Spurs host Arsenal.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side came through a tough period, as they returned four-points from meetings with Man Utd and Liverpool within the last two-weeks.
They seem to have found peace with their temporary home too. Tottenham are 12 home matches unbeaten in all competitions, and have not lost in the league at Wembley since they faced Chelsea in August. They’ve won eight of their last nine at Wembley, with each of those wins coming by at least two goals. At home to the top-six, Spurs are W7-D2-L1 from their last ten.
Arsenal fans were pleased with their demolition of Everton last weekend, but their record away at the top-six will need to change if they’re going to have the same success this Saturday. The Gunners have a record of W0-D6-L9 in their last 15 trips away at the top-six.
However, Arsene Wenger’s side do have fond memories of Wembley. They’ve won the FA Cup in three of the last four seasons.
Anthony Taylor has taken charge of three all top-six clashes this season, showing 7, 4, and 5 cards respectively (Tottenham v Chelsea, Chelsea v Man Utd, and Arsenal v Chelsea).
Arsenal have had 2+ cards in their last three away games. Away at City they saw 6 cards, Chelsea 3, and Liverpool 4. They also received 3 cards at home to Utd, 4 at home to Spurs, and 3 when hosting Chelsea. They’ve won the Yellow Card count in 7/7 games v the top-six this season, and the most booking points in 5/7 (Luiz and Pogba saw red cards). The away team has seen the most booking points in seven of the last eight North London Derby’s.
In addition, Granit Xhaka has been booked in 3/3 away games that he’s played at the top-six this season, and was booked against Spurs at the Emirates earlier this season.
Petr Cech is a doubt.
Potential Tottenham Starting XI: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Dembele; Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane
