Newcastle come into this game on a high after defeating Manchester City midweek, whereas Spurs left it late to beat Watford in midweek.
With Son back for Spurs will help fill some of the void with Kane’s absence, but expect the renewed confidence from the midweek dropped points from teams above should be seized upon if they are serious about a title challenge or even a top two finish, they are best priced 40/1 to lift the title. and 15/2 to finish second.
Newcastle have certainly eased any relegation woes and are out to 15/2 for the drop.
Son Heung-Min returned to action against Watford, and netted a key equaliser in the 2-1 win, but pulled up with cramp, so will be assessed.
Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela both came off the bench in Wednesday's victory and will battle it out to replace Son should he fail to prove his fitness in time.
However, Mauricio Pochettino remains without Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Ben Davies for the welcome of Newcastle.
Kieran Trippier and Eric Dier may come in for Serge Aurier and Harry Winks from the side that started Wednesday's win.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is hoping to recover Paul Dummett, Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame for the trip to Wembley.
Ki Sung-yueng, Joselu, Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot all miss out for the Magpies, while Yoshinori Muto is on international duty.
After their impressive win over Manchester City last time out, Benitez may name the same starting XI here.
Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca have joined from Atlanta and Monaco, respectively, but are unlikely to feature from the off at Wembley.
Potential Spurs Starting XI: Lloris, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Trippier, Sissoko, Dier, Eriksen, Rode, Heung-min and Llorente
Potential Newcastle Starting XI: Dubravka, Yedlin, Schar, Lascelles, Lejeune, Ritche, Atsu, Longstaff, Hayden, Perez and Rondon
Head To Head
- Spurs 4-0-2 (Last six)
Key Stats & Facts
- Spurs have won eight of their last ten Premier League matches.
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in six of Spurs last seven Premier League games.
- Spurs have won their last three matches against Newcastle in all competitions.
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Newcastle’s last three Premier League games.
- Spurs – 9/20 BetVictor
- Draw – 18/5 Unibet
- Newcastle – 9/1 Betfair
The Magpies have failed to win in three on the road. Rafa Benitez's side have also lost their last three meetings with Tottenham, though the Magpies' form at Spurs has been solid, winning three of their last four trips to north London.
Spurs have won eight of their last 10 league games and while Newcastle have been in good form of late, the home side have the means to eke out a third successive 2-1 league win. I think the home side’s style of play can outwit the travelling side and they might suffer a players hangover from their victory over City in the week.
The longer trip down south may take its toll, but Spurs should have the pedigree to take the victory and with match odds of 9/20, taking 13/18 with BetVictor to win by more than a goal has some credibility with the knowledge that a win by a single goal will trigger a refunded stake.
