Alessio Romagnoli rescued Milan midweek against Genoa as they recorded a last-minute win, however they face a tricky trip to Udinese on Sunday.
The win against Genoa sent the Rossoneri into the top four and in contention for a Champions League spot and they could consolidate their position with a win this week. Gennaro Gattuso faces a huge challenge in this match; he is still under an increasing amount of pressure on the Milan bench. This is generally a game that Milan should win but consistency has been a problem this season, with draws coming against Cagliari, Atalanta and Empoli so far. However, they are back on track and should record a comfortable victory on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, Udinese sit 16th and just three points adrift of the relegation zone. They have already conceded 15 goals this season, and they will need to contain the threat that is Gonzalo Higuain. The match provides a huge test to the Rossoneri’s character as the three points on offer in this match are valuable for both teams.
Udinese are battling an injury crisis. Lukasz Teodorczyk, Bram Nuytinck, Emmanuel Badu, Giuseppe Pezzella and Darwin Machis are all injured and miss the game.
Gattuso, like his counterpart, faces a headache at the selection desk as Lucas Biglia, Mattia Caldara, Giacomo Bonaventura and Davide Calabria are sidelined.
Potential Udinese Starting XI: Musso, Opoku, Troost-Ekong, Samir, Pussetto, Fofana, Mandragora, Barak, Larsen, De Paul, Lasagna
Potential Milan Starting XI: Donnarumma, Abate, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez, Suso, Kessie, Bakayoko, Laxalt, Higuain, Cutrone
Key Stats & Facts
- Udinese have only lost one of their last six games at home against AC Milan.
- Milan have only won once in their past six away trips.
- Udinese have scored seven of their ten goals in the last 30 minutes of games this season – more than any other team.
- Udinese – 7/2
- Draw – 5/2
- AC Milan – 17/20
Despite Milan’s recent away form, I expect this to be a relatively easy fixture for them. Udinese have been leaky in their defensive third and I think that the threat imposed by Milan’s attack will provide too stern a test to deal with.
Paddy Power are offering great odds on the Score/Win market. Gonzalo Higuain to score at anytime and AC Milan to take the three points is currently at 23/10.
