With relegation looking more of an eventuality than a possibility, West Brom will be desperate to arrest their current run of form. 6 wins in their last 34 competitive fixtures sees West Brom rock bottom of the table, 7 points from their closest rival. Goalscoring has been a problem for the baggies for most of the season, with strikers Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon leading the way on 4 league goals. Poor results, controversy overseas, boardroom sackings and dressing room bust ups, have all fuelled the speculation around the future of current boss Alan Pardew. Reports suggest that it’s all or bust for the former Crystal Palace manager, who has won just 7 out of his last 53 games as a Premier League manager.
After a poor start to the season, Leicester City saw an upturn in performances when they replaced Craig Shakespeare with ex-Southampton boss Claude Puel. The Frenchman seemed to take the Foxes back to their counter attacking routes, with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez central to the team’s success. However, since league leaders Manchester City attempted a late swoop for the aforementioned Mahrez, the wheels have flown off Leicester’s runaway train. Since the interest in the Algerian amassed, his side are yet to win in the league, gaining just 3 points in that time. With a run of fixtures that included the likes of Everton, Swansea, Stoke and Bournemouth, Puel will be disappointed.
With both teams needing a lift – for very different reasons – there is a possibility for an open game, so that’s where I’ve gone with my best bet. No one loves an open game more than Jamie Vardy, and you can back the Englishman to score anytime at 8/5.
No suspensions for the home side, who have injuries to Sturridge, Morrison and Chadli. Whilst Leicester are without Daniel Amartey, but could welcome back Shinji Okazaki.
Potential West Brom Starting XI: Foster, Dawson, Hegazi, Evans, Gibbs, Livermore, Krychowiak, Brunt, Phillips, Rodriguez, Rondon.
Potential Leicester Starting XI: Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan, Maguire, Chilwell, Ndidi, James, Mahrez, Albrington, Okazaki, Vardy.
