Newly promoted Wolves go in search of their first win of the season when they take on Premier League champions Man City in Saturday’s Premier League early kick-off.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side followed up their 2-2 draw with Everton on the opening weekend with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester last weekend, despite having more shots and shots on target than The Foxes.
Meanwhile, Man City continued their impressive start to the season by thumping Huddersfield 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, a game where star man Sergio Aguero chalked up his 9th Premier League hat-trick.
The home side, who can take confidence from their first two games after impressive performances, will be hoping to mount what would be a huge upset on Saturday and bookies make The Wanderers 11/1 shots to do so.
Interestingly, Man City are unbeaten against newly promoted sides under Pep Guardiola (W9-D3-L0), which probably shouldn’t come as a surprise to most.
Ivan Cavaleiro looks set to miss out. Leander Dendoncker is a doubt.
Kevin de Bruyne remains sidelined while Claudio Bravo could be out for the remainder of the season after suffering an achilles injury in training.
Potential Wolves Starting XI: Patrício, Boly, Coady, Bennett, Jonny, Neves, Moutinho, Traoré, Jota, Jiménez
Potential Man City Starting XI: Ederson, Laporte, Kompany, Stones, Mendy, Silva, Fernandinho, Silva, Walker, Jesus, Agüero
Head To Head
- Wolves: 47
- Draws: 24
- Man City: 46
Key Stats & Facts
- Wolves have failed to win any of their last 16 games in the Premier League.
- Man City have won their last 7 Premier League away games, scoring 18 goals and conceding just 3.
- Man City have scored 3+ goals in 4 of their last 7 away games in the Premier League.
- Wolves 47/4
- Draw 23/4
- Man City 2/7
Man City will be looking to continue on from where they left off against Huddersfield last week. With no cup competitions to worry about at this stage of the season, all their focus and attention can go into Saturday’s game and so I expect another goal-filled fixture here.
The Citizens scored in both halves in 23/38 (60%) and scored 3 or more goals in 21/38 (55%) of games in the Premier League last season. These stats would imply odds of around 7/10 and 4/5 respectively. Therefore odds of 10/11 and 11/10 for them to repeat these feats against Wolves look good value.
