Zenit St Petersburg vs Celtic Betting Preview
Venue: Krestovsky Stadium
Channel: BT Sport 3
Thursday evening will see Zenit St Petersburg try and overturn their 1-0 defeat to Celtic as both teams seek to progress to the next round of the Europa League. After their stunning display last week at Celtic Park, Brendan Rodger’s team will have the upper hand, and will thus want to be more careful going into the game. However, Zenit will want to bounce back after their timid performance last Thursday, and Roberto Mancini is sure to have a few tricks up his sleeve.
The fact Zenit have to score exposes them defensively, but if their attacking players manage to piece a few passes and movements together, they could end up pulling apart a weak Celtic defence. Celtic will most likely defend with solidity and try and create their chances through counterattacks, although their best option would be to play the same way they did in the first leg.
Zenit have no notable absences to speak of, but the Celtic’s infirmary is full: Craig Gordon, Leigh Griffiths & Dedryck Boyata are injured, and Patrick Roberts is doubtful.
Potential Zenit Starting XI: Lunev, Smolnikov, Ivanovic, Mammana, Criscito, Erokhin, Paredes, Kranevitter, Poloz, Kokorin, Rigoni.
Potential Celtic Starting XI: de Vries, Lustig, Ajer, Simunovic, Ajer, Tierney, Forrest, Kouassi, Brown, Ntcham, McGregor, Dembélé.
