It’s been a perfect start for Charlotte Edwards’ side as they head into Saturday’s clash with Sri Lanka in top form. They didn’t have things all their own way last time out against Bangladesh, stumbling to 78/5 chasing 178, but a stunning 79* by Heather Knight was enough to guide England Women over the line and make it two wins from two in the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Sri Lanka will be another tricky game, but one they head into as strong 1/6 favourites. The Lions put up a decent fight in their rain-affected opener against India, and will have to raise their game once again if they are to get on the board with a win against England.

Bet 1: Tammy Beaumont (ENG) to Score 30+ Runs
She may be one of the elder stateswomen of the team, but Tammy Beaumont is ageing like a fine bottle of Château Lafite 1869. Beautifully. Her WODI form leading into the tournament has been superb, averaging a shade under 40 with back-to-back hundreds against the West Indies in May/June.
She anchored the 10-wicket win over South Africa in the first game, cruising to 21* in a low-scoring affair and looked solid against Bangladesh before getting a good one from Marufa Akter, who trapped her in front. She averages 33.40 against Sri Lanka, and she’s a good value bet at 5/6 to tick over 30+ runs.
Bet 2: Heather Knight (ENG) to Score 30+ Runs
Heather Knight is 75 days Beaumont’s senior, and we’re backing the pair to excel, once again, for England on Saturday. She’s been plagued with injuries in 2025 and has missed large parts of the summer as a result, but looked in splendid form, dominating the innings against Bangladesh on Tuesday, scoring 79* in the process.
Like Beaumont, Knight has an outstanding record against Sri Lanka, averaging 50.00 throughout her career. She’s batting well, clearly likes the conditions at the Cricket World Cup and will be integral, once again, if England are to get over the line.
Bet 3: Lauren Bell (ENG) to Take 2+ Wickets
It’s always tough to follow up breakout years like Lauren Bell had in 2024, and it’s fair to say that her numbers haven’t reflected just how well the right-arm quick has bowled. We’re backing her to take 2+ wickets in the match, and the main reason for this is the track.
While the R. Premadasa Stadium is predominantly spin-friendly, it will offer bounce and seam early doors and with the new ball. Bell is sharper than most, and she looked threatening in similar conditions in the opener against South Africa, taking one for 24 before the spinners came on and cleaned up. Even money seems a big price for the Southern Brave starlet to nab two or more wickets, rounding off a tidy-looking bet builder for the match.
