What an absolute cracker we have to look forward to in the late kick-off as high-flying Aston Villa host a dangerous Manchester United side showing forms of life – finally – under Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa
Aston Villa host Manchester United at Villa Park on Sunday

Unai Emery’s stock continues to rise at Villa Park. They stumbled out of the starting blocks at the beginning of the season, failing to score in any of their opening five games and only picking up their first win at the backend of September against Fulham. Since then, it’s 11 wins from 12 and are now an outside bet to win the league.

For Man United, it’s been a little less consistent, but no less dramatic. Perched in fifth, they’re about as good as they’ve been over the last 12 months and aside from the freak result like losing to 10-man Everton at home, have been much more consistent.

This one should be a cracker, so let’s jump in to see where the value is in the markets for our Aston Villa vs Manchester United predictions.

Bet 1: Aston Villa to Win

Only Arsenal (22) and Manchester City (21) have picked up more points at home than Aston Villa this season (19). Emery has turned Villa Park into somewhat of a fortress, winning six in a row at home, including games against Man City and Arsenal.

They’ve got a terrible record against Man United, and have beaten them once in the league at home since 1999 (26 games). But that game was Emery’s first in charge at Villa, and they’ll have been disappointed to not get all three points in last season's fixture.

For Man United, they’re akin to a bag of Revels this season. You just don’t know what you’re going to get, highlighted by their crazy 4-4 draw at home to Bournemouth on Monday. That should have been out of sight before half-time, but ended up clinging on for a point in the end.

Getting 57/50 with BetMGM for Villa to win is a huge price. Their head-to-head record aside, they should have enough to make it 10 wins in a row on Sunday, and we’re backing them to do just that.

Bet 2: Over 2.5 Goals

This could be a chaotic game, and they often manifest goals. What’s interesting about this market is that Villa have taken 15 points from losing positions this season, more than any team in the league.

It shows that if they do go behind, which they’ve done a lot this season, they kick into gear. Emery has instilled a monster mentality at the club, which is to never give up. And the players are buying in big time.

Man United’s away form has been chaotic, and this season, no team has been involved in more goals (56) than the Red Devils, averaging 3.50 per game. A whopping 88% of their away games have covered the over 2.5 goals spread, and for Villa, they’re not far off at 62% at home.

In terms of odds, 13/20 once again looks a big, big price here, and we’re cashing in as the second part of our Aston Villa vs Manchester United bet builder tips.

Bet 3: Morgan Rodgers 1+ Shot on Target

Morgan Rodgers is the heartbeat of the Villa attack at the minute. The 23-year-old is in sublime form and, to be fair, has been for most of the season. It’s been enough to cement his role firmly in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for England, which is even more impressive given the quality of players that they have at their disposal for his position.

He’s landed one or more shots on target in four of his last five games and, of course, bagged two crucial goals last time out against West Ham to twice come from behind at the London Stadium.

If we’re being honest, odds of 3/4 are a little short, but he’s going to get a lot of joy in that 10-role against a Man United team that has often struggled with teams deploying these types of players.
