Our picks are data-driven, using stats from Kickform. Let’s look at each bet in greater detail.

Manchester City vs Brentford – Man City to Win & BTTS: No

City are clear favourites in this one. Brentford are a decent side but are much better at home and Pep Guardiola’s men should have enough to settle this in 90 minutes.

Looking at Kickform’s stats across the season, both teams have scored in 63% of Brentford’s Premier League matches, the third highest in the league. However, the Bees have failed to score in away defeats to Crystal Palace, Arsenal, and Tottenham in recent weeks, in a run of four consecutive away losses.

After shipping a few goals of late City have tightened up with 3-0 wins over Sunderland at home and Palace away, with a 2-1 away win over Real Madrid in the Champions League sandwiched in between. We think Wednesday will see City get another clean sheet along with a sixth successive win in all competitions.

Manchester City vs Brentford: Phil Foden Anytime Goalscorer

Phil Foden is in great form in front of goal this season. The England international has 10 goals in 21 matches in all competitions, including six in the last five matches. He has scored once in two Carabao Cup appearances, and we back him to get on the sheet again.

Newcastle United vs Fulham: Over 9.5 Corners

It has been a frustrating season for Carabao Cup holders Newcastle United. The Magpies may have made a decent start to defending the trophy with wins over Bradford City and Tottenham Hotspur, but they sit in mid-table in the Premier League, four points adrift of the European places.

Fulham have seen off Bristol City, Cambridge United and Wycombe Wanderers to reach this stage. The Cottagers have won their last two away games in the league and were possibly unfortunate not to take a point at St James’ Park when the two sides met in October.

One league table Newcastle top is for corners won, with an average of 6.13 per game in the Premier League. Fulham have won an average of 5.13 per game. 56% of Newcastle’s league matches and 69% of Fulham’s league matches have produced 10 or more corners. All of Fulham’s Carabao Cup games have seen the corner count hit double figures. So, in a cup tie between two sides lacking in consistency, we think that this is the market to go with.
