Bet 1: Huddersfield Town vs Manchester City – City to Win to Nil
League One Huddersfield Town face an almighty task if they are to progress from their third round tie with Manchester City. They are, however, performing well in League One, sitting fifth with five wins from nine.
City will no doubt change it up from the team that drew with Arsenal on Sunday, but a second (or even third) string City team should easily have enough to win and win well. Their shot suppression has been elite this season, and they have conceded just five goals in the Premier League. City to win to nil at 5/6 is the play.
Bet 2: Newcastle United vs Bradford City – Over 3.5 Goals
Newcastle have struggled for goals following the departure of Alexander Isak to Liverpool. They’ve found the net just three times in the Premier League, and this will be some cause for concern for manager Eddie Howe.
Based on this, you’d be forgiven for asking why we’ve taken over 3.5 goals, but that’s mainly down to Bradford. Current League One leaders have scored 17 times in eight games, conceding 11, averaging 3.11 goals per game and have landed BTTS in 89% of their matches. We don’t think they will have enough to win the game, but we do think they can nick a goal, which makes the over for 3.5 goals good value at 10/11.
Bet 3: Tottenham Hotspur vs Doncaster Rovers – Spurs to Win to Nil
Thomas Frank’s appointment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looks to have been a shrewd move by Daniel Levy in his final appointment before stepping down from the role as executive chairman. They sit third in the league and have already won their first Champions League game last week. The mood is optimistic around North London, and rightly so.
They face a strong Doncaster Rovers side on Wednesday night in a game they are heavy favourites for. But Rovers have struggled for goals of late, with 10 in 10 league games, and it won’t get any easier for them against Premier League opposition. It should be a straightforward win for Spurs, and we’re adding win to nil to boost the odds to 5/6.
Bet 4: Port Vale vs Arsenal – Over 3.5 Goals
Mikel Arteta will be relatively happy with a point against City at the weekend, but you can’t help but feel it was a game of what ifs? With a little more conviction, three points were there for the taking, and they’ve been lambasted once again for not going for the win once that equaliser landed.
Wednesday should be relatively straightforward as they face a Port Vale side scrapping at the wrong end of League One. Two wins from two have dragged them out of the relegation zone for now, but Arsenal’s squad depth is so impressive that it could be a long night at Vale Park. With not much value in the match results market, we’re opting for goals once again, and over 3.5 to cover for the final part of our Carabao Cup acca tips.
