Charlton Athletic vs West Bromwich Albion: Under 2.5 Goals
Charlton have a defensive record only bettered by Stoke City, with only 11 goals conceded. They haven’t exactly been free-scoring at the other end though and are in eighth place in the table, having averaged 1.15 goals per game.
Any potential promotion push for West Brom has been hindered by their lack of potency in front of goal. The Baggies are averaging less than a goal per game (0.92) and, although they have a reasonable defensive record with 14 conceded, they are in an uninspiring 12th place in the table.
69% of Charlton’s matches have featured less than 2.5 goals, with the figure at 62% for West Brom. We are expecting a tight game with few goals.
Derby County vs Hull City: BTTS
Derby are sat in 17th place with four wins, five draws and four defeats, scoring 16 and conceding 17. Both teams have scored in 62% of their matches.
Hull City have scored an impressive total of 22 goals in 13 matches. However, the Tigers have also conceded 20 and are seventh in the table. 69% of their league matches have seen goals at both ends.
The two sides have kept three clean sheets each, and we don’t see either adding to that total on Tuesday. The stats are pointing to goals at both ends.
Oxford United vs Stoke City: Under 2.5 Goals
Oxford United, 18th in the table, host third-placed Stoke City, whose promotion challenge has been built on the foundation of the division’s meanest defence with only nine goals conceded. They have scored an average of 1.15 goals per game, and 69% of their matches this season have had less than three goals. Oxford have averaged 1.15 goals per game and will have their work cut out to breach the Stoke rearguard. We are confident that this one will be low scoring.
Coventry City vs Sheffield United: Coventry Win & Over 2.5 Goals
Both clubs suffered play-off disappointment last season, however, the contrast in fortunes this time round has been stark. Coventry sit at the top of the table having banged in a Championship high of 36 goals in 13 matches. Sheffield United are third from bottom with 23 conceded in 13 games.
We see a home win here, and we expect there to be a few goals. 69% of Coventry’s games have seen more than three goals, and we think that this one will follow that trend.
