EFL Trophy Tuesday Acca Odds
Bet 1: Chesterfield to beat Liverpool U21
Under-21 teams are always a bit of a wildcard in tournaments like this. They haven’t been truly tested at this level, and it’s hard to know how they’ll react when the pressure’s on. Still, it feels vanishingly unlikely that we’ll see anything other than a Chesterfield victory here.
The Spireites have been in fine form, winning three of their last five and going seven unbeaten overall. Liverpool U21s, on the other hand, just can’t seem to find a rhythm. A couple of wins over Middlesbrough and Everton are the only buoys in what’s otherwise been a sinking ship of a season.
They’re stuck in 21st place in Premier League 2 after losing five of nine, are defensively fragile, and now heading into a tough away fixture. With Dilan and Armando in Chesterfield’s firing line, we can’t see this going any other way.
Bet 2: Bradford City to Beat Doncaster
We’ve got a reet northern showdown on our hands here, and the bookies have it pegged as a neck-and-neck thriller. From an entertainment standpoint, that’s something we’d love to see. But as punters, we run with our heads, not our hearts. And right now, our heads are thinking, “what on earth are they on about?”
Just look at how their seasons stack up in League One. Doncaster are flirting with relegation in 18th place and haven’t managed a win in their last five, while Bradford City are battling it out with Stockport at the top. Sure, Bradford’s form has wobbled, four draws in their last five, but even so, it’s hard to see them slipping up here.
Bet 3: Davis Keillor-Dunn to Score Anytime
Pure maths, this one. Just a quick glance at the goal stats and it’s clear as day, David Keillor-Dunn is by miles the likeliest to bag here. Now, we’re not taking anything away from David McGoldrick’s cracking hat-trick against Man United Under-21s, but let’s be honest, one good game doesn’t make a value bet. Consistency’s the name of the game.
Look, with Lincoln City and Barnsley both playing in Football League One, this match is pretty much par for the course for The Tykes. Keillor-Dunn’s bagged seven goals in 13 games this season, that’s scoring more than half the time! And yet, the odds have him at well under evens to score again. The bookies are miles off here, and we’re all in on this one.
