Martí Cifuentes’ short reign at Leicester is over as the club announced the Spaniard has been relieved from his duties following their 2-1 defeat at home to Oxford. The club is now looking for their fourth appointment in 18 months as the next Leicester City manager odds go live.
After a decent start to the season, losing just once in their opening 10 games following relegation from the Premier League, Leicester’s form has crumbled, losing 11 of their last 19 games. They currently sit 14th in the Championship, some 20 points off league leaders Coventry and are at serious risk of not making the playoffs on current form.
Club chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha released a statement on Sunday highlighting that this was “a difficult decision and not one I have taken lightly”, before thanking Cifuentes for his time at the club.
The question now for Leicester is who’s next? And we’ve scoured the early Leicester City next manager betting odds to see where the early value lies.

Andy King – Early Favourite
Andy King has already been put in interim charge at the club and will get the first crack at the whip. He’s a club legend, with 55 goals from 329 appearances, and someone the fans have backed as a potential manager someday.
However, it feels a bit soon for King. He’s got no experience as a manager, and while he knows the club well, priced at 2/1 is too short. Despite their current league position, Leicester still have the potential to lure a big name, and it doesn’t feel like the right time to risk an unproven manager at this point. One to avoid, for now.
Russell Martin – Value Play
Martí Cifuentes’ sacking is still very fresh, but there’s already a lot of buzz about the potential of Russell Martin coming straight into the role. There were links to Martin in the summer before Cifuentes was appointed, so it’s clear the board think highly of him.
He’s a manager who knows the league well and, of course, got Southampton promoted, albeit ending badly in the Premier League. That short Rangers stint shouldn’t define him, and if he can translate his methodology to the current crop of players, they can still push for those promotion places. At 4/1, his next manager betting odds are the value play.
Gary Rowett – Long Shot
Gary Rowett did an incredible job keeping Oxford in the Championship last season. He was brought in at a time when the U’s looked to be slipping into League One, but put together a strong run of results to keep them up on the final day of the season.
There’s no doubt that Leicester is a step up and will be the biggest job of his career, but he has tons of Championship experience behind him and was another who was in the running for the job last summer. It’s an outside pick in terms of his next Leicester City manager odds, but he would provide the club with immediate control at a time where it feels like the season is slipping away fast.
