In a club statement released on behalf of the Luton Town board, they detailed that results “fell below the level expected”. Bloomfield has been in charge since January 2025 but was ultimately unable to save The Hatters from relegation to League One. Luke Williams – 4/1 BetVictor
Luke Williams has emerged as the bookies' favourite to become the next Luton Town manager. The Englishman cut his teeth with Notts County, leading them to promotion from the National League in 2022/23 and orchestrated a record-breaking 25-match unbeaten run in the process.
He earned a role as head coach of Championship side Swansea before leaving his position in February 2025, after a bumpy second season with the Swans. His reputation as a high-calibre coach remained intact, and he will bring a structure-first approach to the role, something Luton desperately needs. His immediate availability without the need for a payoff will be a positive for the board.
Richie Wellens – 6/1 talkSPORT BET
Richie Wellens’ stock continues to rise in the football league. He’s won two promotions with Leyton Orient and taken them to the 2025 League One play-off final, narrowly losing 1-0 to Charlton. As a possession-based, front-foot coach, he’ll become an instant fan favourite with his style of play, and at odds of 6/1, he could offer good value here.
The problem that the Luton board will have is that Wellens is in demand. He’s been heavily linked to the next Blackpool manager vacancy and only signed a new three-year deal with Orient in June, so a compensation package will need to be part of the deal. The CV stands out, but that might not be enough to justify the fee.
Jack Wilshere – 8/1 Parimatch
A move for Jack Wilshere to take the reins at The Kenny would be a bold but exciting move. The former Luton academy graduate has only ever managed a couple of professional games, caretaking for Norwich City in April/May 2025 after leading Arsenal U18s to the FA Youth Cup final in 2023.
The upsides of taking a punt with Wilshere are that he’d be starting from scratch, creating pathways for young players to progress and have the option of bringing an experienced No.2 to help with his progression.
He’s highly thought of at Arsenal and has been tipped to succeed in the management game. It would be a punt at 8/1, but with former ties to the club and having worked under elite managers like Arsene Wenger, Eddie Howe, Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes, it could be a great time for Luton to mould youth into legendary status.
