Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou is set for talks with owner Evangelos Marinakis in the coming days after his side’s defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park yesterday. Postecoglou is without a win in seven matches after taking charge last month. And odds on the Australian to become the next Premier League manager to be sacked have shortened to 2/5 with Forest sitting a point above the relegation zone.
Over Ange Out? Postecoglou Next Premier League Manager to Be Sacked Odds
Postecoglou was appointed on 9th September. Since then, he has overseen five defeats and two draws in all competitions. The former Celtic and Spurs boss was walking into a potentially difficult situation. His predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo was extremely popular with the club’s fans after guiding Forest into Europe last season but left after his relationship with the owner broke down.
Postecoglou’s preferred playing style is vastly different to Espirito Santo’s and things have not gone smoothly with Forest, previously a sound defensive outfit, conceding 15 goals across the seven matches he has presided over. Postecoglou adopted a more pragmatic approach at St James’ Park and although Forest contained the hosts for almost an hour, they were eventually undone. He remains under pressure and is the clear favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave. Check out the odds from Parimatch, one of the best football betting sites in the UK.

Postecoglou: Forest Boss Set for Talks
Postecoglou stated in his post-match press conference after the Newcastle defeat, he “expects” to have a discussion with Marinakis and the Forest board this week. Forest fans chanted against Postecoglou after the home defeat to FC Midtjylland in the Europa League. Whatever the outcome of the talks, managers are judged on results, so Postecoglou needs to win matches. By the same token, managers need time, and frequent changes are often counterproductive. However, if Marinakis feels that the appointment is not working, we think that he will not be afraid to cut his losses and pull the trigger.
Home Wins Strengthen Amorim’s Position – For Now
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was under severe pressure last month. This is still the case, however, home wins over Chelsea and Sunderland have appeared to buy the former Sporting boss a little bit of time. This is one to watch, though.
Forest’s relegation odds slashed During Postecoglou’s Reign
When Postecoglou took over at Forest in September the Tricky Trees were 12/1 to go down. These odds were slashed to 3/1 overnight upon his appointment, and are now as short as 11/4 with bet365.
Postecoglou: Potential Replacements
There are not many obvious candidates to replace Postecoglou at Forest should he leave his post. One name worth keeping an eye on is Sean Dyche. Dyche, a former Forest player, is currently out of work and may represent a safe pair of hands should the club continue to struggle.
