Thomas Frank’s dismal run as Tottenham boss ended abruptly on Wednesday morning as he was relieved of his duties with immediate effect. Frank joined Spurs in June 2025 on a three-year deal, but has won just 13 of his 38 games in charge with the club perilously close to the relegation zone.

A 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle United on Tuesday evening proved to be the last straw, with the team yet to win in 2026 and having just two wins in their last 17 league games.

With Frank’s departure announced, the market for the next Tottenham Hotspur manager odds open, with former head coach Mauricio Pochettino one of the early favourites to take charge. However, it’s likely that someone comes in as an interim until the end of the season, before a permanent replacement takes charge.

Mauricio Pochettino

There were talks of Mauricio Pochettino making a sensational return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer, so it’s not all that surprising to hear his name linked again.

A lot is being made about appointing managers who fit the “DNA” of a club, and while it seems to be the latest en vogue buzzword these days, there’s some merit to that in this case. Pochettino spent five years at the club, leading them to their first Champions League final, and has largely maintained an excellent relationship with the fans.

The sticking point is that the Argentine is currently contracted to the United States men’s team, and with a home World Cup just months away, a deal before then seems unlikely. That’s not to say an appointment could still be thrashed out, but it would mean that an interim manager in the next manager betting.

Which draws us nicely into Edin Terzic…

Edin Terzic

There have already been murmurs surrounding an interim appointment for Edin Terzic. The former Borussia Dortmund manager left his role in Germany in 2024 after requesting his contract be terminated. He’s since expressed his desire to return to management and has turned down multiple Bundesliga offers, including Eintracht Frankfurt, while waiting for the right role.

Spurs have been linked to Terzic back in 2021 when Jose Mourinho departed, and the German has spent time in the Premier League working under Slaven Bilic as his assistant at West Ham.

Depending on the betting market, this will indicate whether Terzic is a value bet. If the market is purely who will take charge next, then it makes a lot of sense as he’s a good fit on an interim basis, but if it’s who will take charge permanently (likely in the summer), there are better picks elsewhere.

Roberto De Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi is a name that has gained significant traction in the early Tottenham manager odds market. The former Brighton man left his role at Marseille by mutual consent earlier in the week after crashing out of the Champions League and being soundly beaten 5-0 away to PSG.

The Italian built up considerable admiration during his time in the Premier League, implementing a high press and breaking lines in an exciting, if high-risk, system with Brighton. For Spurs fans, it’s something they should crave after being starved of creativity under the former manager Thomas Frank.

It’s a move that can be done immediately, and if Spurs can’t get Pochettino to commit in the summer, De Zerbi to Spurs should be a strong fit.

Michael Carrick

If you’re looking for an outside pick for the next Tottenham manager, then Michael Carrick ticks a lot of boxes. He’s currently on an interim contract with Manchester United until the end of the season, before they decide who will take charge permanently following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.

But the Englishman has impressed, winning four of his first five games, including victories over Manchester City and Arsenal in that time.

It’s not a surprise to see him progress as quickly as he has, given how impressive he was at Middleborough, getting the club within touching distance of promotion on a shoestring budget.

There’s no doubt that this would be an outside pick, but if Spurs want a full reset and to give youth a chance to change the philosophy of the club, they could do a lot worse than Carrick.
