A record 10th consecutive away loss on the night of Monday, 05 January, was enough for the West Brom board to act and ultimately sack Ryan Mason after just seven months in charge. Markets with the next West Brom manager odds are live as we look ahead to who could take charge at the Hawthorns.
Mason had conjured just two wins in the last eight games (six defeats), and the Baggies find themselves perilously close to the relegation zone, with seven points separating them and 20th position, Norwich City.
In a club statement released on Tuesday morning, the board expressed their thanks to Mason, who departs with immediate effect, along with assistant head coach Nigel Gibbs and head of performance Sam Pooley.
While first-team coach James Morrison will take temporary charge for the foreseeable future, bookies are once again dusting off their West Brom manager betting market as another appointment now looms.

Lee Carsley
Lee Carsley’s stock has been steadily rising over the last few years, mainly from his time as England Under-21 manager. Winning the 2023 Under-21 European Championships is a notable highlight, and his record for bringing through emerging talent is second to none.
It’s interesting to see that he currently leads the next West Brom manager odds, however, given his distinct lack of experience at club level. His current contract with the FA is set to run until 2027, and even though he’s dabbled in caretaker/interim roles at Coventry City, Brentford, Birmingham and of course, the England senior team, it’d be a surprise to see him jump ship a little over a year before the 2027 European Under-21 Championship.
Admittedly, this would be a big catch for West Brom, but it’ll be expensive and looks awkward in its timing.
Michael Carrick
If the Baggies are looking for a move they can complete quickly, with little fuss, and that will appease the fans, Michael Carrick could be a viable option. He’s been out of work since leaving his role as Middlesbrough manager in June 2025, but is widely regarded as a top up-and-coming coach.
While current form is less than ideal at the Hawthorns, it’s not dire straits just yet, and Carrick would be a perfect fit as a long-term project manager. He took the Boro very close to those promotion places on a limited budget, and out of the top three in the current market, looks good value at 6/1.
Carlos Corberan
A surprise name to have cropped up is a return for Carlos Corberan, who managed West Brom from 2022 to 2024 before being poached by La Liga side Valencia. His time in the Midlands was generally positive, and he was unlucky to miss out on a play-off spot on the final day of the 2022-23 season after taking charge with the team languishing in the relegation places.
There have been rumours in Spain that Los Che are looking to replace Corberan, given they sit 18th with just one win in their last 12. He’s contracted until 2027, and a lot will depend on what happens at Valencia, but at 8/1, this is another deal that has legs and would be a good fit for the board given Corberan’s prior knowledge of the club.
