Graham Potter has been sacked as manager of West Ham. The 50-year-old was relieved of his duties on Saturday morning ahead of their game on Monday night against Everton, and the markets are now open for the next West Ham manager, with Nuno Espírito Santo odds-on favourite to take charge.
It was a nightmare start to the season for Potter’s West Ham. One win and four defeats from their opening five games have the Hammers languishing in the relegation zone, and a fan base protesting against the current ownership.
Potter was appointed in January 2025, replacing Julen Lopetegui, and was tasked with stabilising the club following a turbulent run of results. But with just six league wins in eight months, his tenure has been far from a success. A 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday was the final nail in the coffin, and the bookies are already live with a market to see who could replace him at the London Stadium.

Nuno or Never for Espírito Santo
It’s crazy to think Nuno Espírito Santo is out of a job after just a handful of games into a season that followed European qualification for Nottingham Forest. But here we are. Since he was sacked at the start of September 2025, there will be no shortage of suitors, and this would be a statement appointment for a West Ham fanbase not only growing in frustration with their manager, but also their owners.
Nuno will bring a sense of calm and organisation to the team. Historically, he has moulded his sides to be well-drilled and defensively astute, with an emphasis on defined roles over a high-risk build. The opposite of Potter in many ways, but what is needed right now for a club teetering on self-destruction.
At 1/4 to become the next West Ham manager, the bookies suggest this is very close.
Bilić to Basics: Should West Ham Go Back to Slav?
A second stint for Slaven Bilić to head back to West Ham is currently priced at 3/1, with the Croatian currently out of work after leaving the Saudi Pro League’s Al-Fateh after just six weeks at the helm. Bilić is a cult hero around West Ham and is still statistically their second most successful manager, averaging 1.33 points per game, bettered only by David Moyes’ 1.35 points per game.
He will be a popular appointment for the fans, but has featured just once in the Premier League (West Bromwich Albion 2020) since he left West Ham in 2017, so this will be a risky appointment if they were to go back. The owners are surely looking for a fresh start here, and we’d avoid betting on Slaven Bilić to be the next West Ham boss at 3/1 as a result.
Dyche Hard with A Vengeance
Sean Dyche has been out of work since being relieved of his duties at Everton in January 2025. The Englishman had a reasonable record with Toffees, with a 34.69% win rate in all competitions with a very limited budget.
At 12/1, he’s an outsider to take the West Ham job, but he’s exactly what the Hammers need right now. Dyche’s no-nonsense approach would be a hard reset for the club. He’d shore up the leaky back line and aim to rebuild confidence in their flair players like Bowen, Paqueta and Füllkrug.
It might not always be pretty, but Dyche is always effective. He’s a firefighter, and West Ham are currently stuck with a manager who is fanning the flames, rather than extinguishing them.
