In fact, these teams have been near mirror images of each other so far this season, plenty of bright spots weighed down by inconsistency. But they are scoring goals. The stats show both teams seem likely to draw blood, each scoring in four of their last five Premier League matches while being limited to a single goal in two of those. Given their similar levels of quality, this feels destined to balance out. A 1-1 draw looks the likeliest outcome, a hard-fought point for both teams, and potentially a well-earned winning bet for us punters as well.
Overrated Attack, Underrated Odds: Under 2.5 at 7/4 for Man City vs Burnley is Pure Value
At first glance, you might assume that a giant like Man City will use Burnley as a warning shot, showing they’re still top contenders in the Premier League title race with a statement win. And at 7/4 odds for Under 2.5 goals, it certainly seems like the best bookies in the UK have bought into the hype and firmly believe that Haaland and the gang are going to glide through Burnley’s defences like ink through water.
But the numbers tell a different story. Man City have only won two of their first five Premier League games, and just one of those saw more than two goals. Burnley, meanwhile, have seen the total creep over two goals in only two of their fixtures. And if you think that’s just down to weak opposition, remember how they frustrated league leaders Liverpool less than a fortnight ago. Only a stoppage-time penalty from Mo Salah denied Burnley a famous point against a side so strong that bookies are even pricing odds on them to go unbeaten all season
Honestly, 7/4 feels like the bookies are tempting fate, with under three goals looking very likely, this screams value from every angle.

If he gets his chance, which we fully expect, the chances of him scoring here are excellent. Certainly far better than the 32% implied probability the bookies are giving.
