Bet 1: Arsenal vs Man City – Arsenal to Win and Gyökeres 1+ SoT
Arsenal have got off to a flyer this season. Four wins from five in all competitions, scoring 11 and conceding one. It’s league-winning form, and even though it’s too early to say if they can finally get over the line, Arteta will be delighted with how the new signings have bedded in, finally offering them much-needed strength in depth.
Sunday will be a huge test to see where they are. They went toe-to-toe with Liverpool at Anfield, but ultimately fell short. A win against City will be a statement three points and a warning shot to the rest of the league. They’ve got the stats to back up a win as well. Two wins from the last two meetings at the Emirates, combined with an unbeaten streak of four, have us heavily leaning toward the home win at 8/13.
It’ll be a relief for Arteta to see Viktor Gyökeres finding his feet early doors. The Swede has three goals and five shots on target in his first five games. He took his goals against Forest and Leeds incredibly well, and backing him to get 1+ shots on target boosts the win market up to 8/5, making it much more appealing.
Bet 2: Bournemouth vs Newcastle – Over 2.5 Goals and Semenyo to Score/Assist
Bournemouth have been a surprise package this season. Nine points from 12 is a superb return, and Andoni Iraola is adding stock with each gameweek. He seems to relish these games with Newcastle, and particularly Eddie Howe, with the pair tactically two of the best in the league.
But it’s Iraola who has come out on top, and is four games unbeaten against Howe, setting up to frustrate a team that relies heavily on its physical output with a perfect balance of press and counter-attacking.
Newcastle head to Bournemouth on the back of a gruelling home defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League. In the 2023/24 season, the over 2.5 goals landed in four of the six games that followed a European runout. Couple that with two of the last three heads-to-heads landing, and over 2.5 goals makes the first bet.
Antoine Semenyo to score or assist is next up. The Ghanaian has three G/A in the last three meetings between the teams and five in four Premier League games this season. It could be a stretched game in the last half an hour as Newcastle begin to tire on the back of two games in three days, which makes 11/5 for over 2.5 and Semenyo to score or assist a great looking pick.
Bet 3: Aston Villa vs Sunderland – Sunderland Double Chance and John McGinn 2+ Fouls
What on earth is going on at Aston Villa? No wins, no goals and dumped out of the League Cup mid-week by Brentford on penalties. A trip to Sunderland is not the type of fixture you want as a manager when under pressure, and we think they’ll struggle again on Sunday.
Régis Le Bris deserves a lot of credit for Sunderland’s dream start to life back in the Premier League. They’re dogged, hard to beat and have the ability to nick a goal or two. They’re massive at 7/10 on the double chance market, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see them get at least a point from this game.
To bolster the bet, we’ve added McGinn to commit 2+ fouls in the game. He’s hit that mark in three of four so far, and this will be a battle if they’re to get anything from it. It boosts the bet nicely to 3/1 and the overall acca to 33/1.
