Scotland host Japan as Steve Clarke seeks the right blend ahead of this summer’s World Cup campaign. The visitors have been in good form recently and will provide a stern test. We have come up with a great 8/1 bet builder ahead of the clash.

We're backing Scott McTominay to get on the scoresheet as part of our 8/1 bet builder.

Scotland vs Japan Bet Builder Tips

Scotland finished their qualifying campaign on a high with a rousing 4-1 win over Denmark. They go into their first match of 2026 looking to continue their recent form in front of goal which has seen them score 13 in their last five matches. Japan, however, will be travelling full of confidence after three straight wins, including a 3-2 victory over Brazil.

We’ve studied the form of the two sides and having looked at the performances of individual players for their clubs with the help of our stats hub Kickform. Through this we have come up with a fantastic 4-leg bet builder with 10bet, one of the UK’s leading online bookies. If our four picks all come in, it would see you net a £90 payout from a £10 bet.

Double Chance: Japan or Draw

Japan finished 2025 on a high note with three straight wins, completing a sequence of seven wins from 10 with 25 scored and only eight conceded. They are a good side that have proved they can upset established football nations. The bookies have them as slight favourites going into this one and while we can see Scotland competing well, we also see the visitors as favourites and think that they will come away with at least a share of the spoils.

Over 2.5 Goals

Six of Scotland’s last eight matches and two of Japan’s last three fixtures have seen three or more goals. Our Kickform stats show that in Scotland’s qualifying campaign 67% of their games exceeded 2.5 goals. For Japan this figure was 63%. We are confident that there will be goals in this one.

BTTS: Yes

Continuing in a similar vein, we think that both teams will get on the scoresheet. Scotland have only failed to score twice in their last 12, while Japan have scored in each of their last four and in eight of their last 10.

Scott McTominay to Score Anytime

Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is enjoying one of his best-ever goalscoring seasons at club level, with 11 in 36 appearances. The former Manchester United player has a great goalscoring record at international level, with 14 in 67, with 13 of those coming in his last 30 games. We think that 11/4 is a good value price and a great way to round off our 10bet acca.
