Sunday Premier League Acca – A Tasty Sunday Treble
We think all three home sides will be strong in the 2pm games. Two of them come off the back of Europa League wins, while Manchester United look to continue what has been a good start under their new manager.

Bet 1 – Aston Villa to Beat Brentford & Over 1.5 Home Goals
Aston Villa recovered from two goals down on Thursday night to land another Europa League win, but they lost Ollie Watkins to an injury. The striker won’t be able to face his old club, but Villa now have a ready-made replacement in the shape of Tammy Abraham.
Brentford arrive at Villa Park with their own worries. Josh Dasilva is missing, while Antoni Milambo and Fabio Carvalho are out for the rest of the season. To add to this, the Bees lost both Kristoffer Ajer and Mikkel Damsgaard during their disappointing recent defeat at Nottingham Forest, so things aren’t looking good.
Since scoring four times against Everton and three against Sunderland, Brentford have gone off the boil. Keith Andrews’ side lost 2-0 at Chelsea and by the same score at the City Ground. Meanwhile, Villa are flying again, having won at Fenerbahce and Newcastle, before putting three goals past Salzburg on Thursday.
We look for value, but that means different things to different people. In this case, we wonder whether if Man City, Liverpool or Chelsea were four points off the top of the table after 23 games, and faced this Brentford side at home, would they be even-money? Of course not. Villa are overpriced, and we’re taking advantage of them to win and score more than once in the process.
Bet 2 – Manchester United to Beat Fulham & Over 1.5 Home Goals
How should we assess Manchester United? They showed mixed form earlier in the season and that can’t be ignored, but even after a couple of weeks, it’s clear that Michael Carrick has positively affected their squad.
The home side already sit four points clear of Fulham, yet their recent resurgence suggests that gap is wider in real terms. At Old Trafford this campaign, they’ve collected 21 points from 11 games, while Fulham have managed just 11 points on their travels.
Since Carrick took charge, the Red Devils have beaten Manchester City in the derby and Arsenal at the Emirates, scoring five times across the two games. Over the same period, Fulham edged past Brighton courtesy of a late comeback, but also suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Leeds. This is a step up in class, and it’s questionable whether Fulham can rise to the occasion.
Bet 3 – Nottingham Forest or Draw (Double Chance) & Under 3.5 Goals
This is a hard game to assess. Forest had to play in European competition on Thursday night, with Palace taking a break. Usually, we’d want to back the Eagles’ talented squad to produce something, but they’ve just been in such utterly terrible form.
Forest won at Brentford in the league last week, and managed a confidence-boosting 4-0 win against Ferencvaros in the Europa League the other day. They are building on some improved form and are rightful favourites at home. Astonishingly, Oliver Glasner’s men have now gone 11 games without a win. With a run that long, who are we to confidently say it will come to an end now?
Palace are looking for reinforcements in attack, but it is unlikely any will have been concluded in time for this clash. As well as looking to bring in players, Palace are having to deal with outgoings, and the future of striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is up in the air with Sunday’s opposing club, Nottingham Forest, rumoured to be interested, which could unsettle things further.
Crystal Palace’s last six Premier League matches have averaged just two goals per game, only three goals in six games scored by them. Over the same period, Forest’s matches average 2.33 goals per game, with Sean Dyche’s team netting just six in six. This could be a low-scoring affair with Forest the most likely winners, and that’s the angle.
Each of the last seven games between these two sides has finished 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1. That’s history, but we’re backing it to continue with no Palace win, and the insurance of under 3.5 goals.
