Bet 1 – Italy v Scotland – Jamie Dobie Anytime Try Scorer

Handed a Six Nations start for the Scotland rugby team in the Six Nations, Jamie Dobie will be desperate to make an instant impact. He will be a constant threat, and his pace and athleticism give him a better chance of crossing over than most.

He’s a fair price and can score at least once, though whether it pushes Scotland to a big win in Rome is in doubt. While this fixture is no longer the guaranteed wooden spoon match, the away side may have to get ugly at times, leading us to our next bet.

Bet 2 – Italy v Scotland – Italy +8.5pts

Gregor Townsend has a settled squad, meaning cohesion will not be the problem. There’s no doubt they’ll be looking for a strong start, but Gonzalo Quesada’s men have shown progress, even beating Australia 26-19 back in November.

The Six Nations schedule gives them an early home game when energy is high, and we can see them making things close. To have a real impact, they’ll have to make this game more of a grind than Scotland would like. Thunderstorms are expected in Rome on Saturday, and bad weather could play into our hands. Italy may not win this, but they can keep things tight.

Bet 3 – England v Wales – Tommy Freeman Anytime Try Scorer

England are as short as 1/200 in places to beat Wales, which just shows what a task the visiting side have waiting for them. At a full Twickenham and with the title in mind, England will be open and attacking. There’ll be plenty of points available, and it won’t be a surprise should Tommy Freeman score at least once.

Tall and pacy, Freeman will be a big target for high balls and back-post finishes. He’s developing into one of England’s most reliable scorers, landing seven tries for his country so far. This is the perfect game for him to add to that stat, and push England towards a handsome bonus point victory.

Bet 4 – England v Wales – England -25pts

England v Wales rugby games are passionate affairs. Wales will provide plenty of pride, but may not enjoy the result. The home side have a huge apparent advantage in terms of talent, so if they keep things professional, this will be a rout. Territory, leading to pressure, leading to tries. That’s what we expect.

Steve Borthwick’s side are on a long winning run which includes an impressive win against New Zealand in the Autumn Internationals. England will be aggressive, will look to build a lead early, and with no real reason to see Wales mounting a big second half challenge, a large scoreboard gap could be incoming.
