We’re down to the final eight of the Davis Cup, which means the world’s very best are about to battle it out for national glory. The best-of-three format, with two singles and one doubles, makes this a unique one to predict, and once again the bookies look completely out of court. But we’ve got them rallied into a corner, and we reckon our four-fold has everything it needs for game, set and match.

Carlos Alcaraz raises a fist in victory.

Davis Cup Quarter-Finals Tips

Bet 1: France vs Belgium – France To Win

We don’t think we’ll need a doubles match to decide this one. Right now, France’s Ugo Humbert is leagues ahead of Belgium’s Raphael Collignon. Humbert is a seven-time ATP singles champion and currently world number 37. He hasn’t lifted a major trophy this year, but the gulf in class between him and the world number 86 Collignon, plus Humbert’s excellent recent showing at the Swiss Indoors, should make this a straightforward win for the French.

Next up is France’s Arthur Rinderknech versus Belgium’s Zizou Bergs. This one will be tighter, but we still give France the edge. Rinderknech’s run at the Shanghai Masters, where he came close to taking the title before being halted by Vacherot, shows he’s in strong form. Bergs has had a solid, if unspectacular, year, and we think that difference should be enough for the French to squeak through.

And if it somehow does go to a doubles decider, France will send out Benjamin Bonzi and Pierre-Hugues Herbert against Belgium’s Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen. The Belgians probably have the stronger pairing here, with Herbert in particular looking out of his depth. But we don’t think it’ll matter. France should already have this wrapped up long before then.

Bet 2: Italy vs Austria – Italy to Win

All the top UK bookies have Italy locked in as firm favourites here. And we’ve got to say, we wholeheartedly agree. First up, the Italians are sending out Flavio Cobolli to face Austria’s Jurij Rodionov. Upsets can happen, sure, but this one feels like such a long shot if it were on the court you’d need to sit two car parks back to see it. Cobolli outranks Rodionov by more than 120 places, and the Austrian has been struggling badly for form in 2025.

And it doesn’t get any easier for Austria. Filip Misolic has the misfortune of taking on Lorenzo Musetti; a player hovering around the top five and fresh off narrowly losing to Djokovic in the Hellenic Championship. Misolic, meanwhile, is outside the top 1000. There’s always a puncher’s chance in tennis, but we’d be stunned if Italy aren’t through by this point.

If, by some miracle, it does go to doubles, Italy’s Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori will face Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler. Here, Austria would actually have a decent shot: the pairs are of similar calibre and both teams have impressed on the road to the quarter-finals. It’s by far Austria’s best chance of an upset. But the odds of the tie even reaching this stage look very, very slim. To be honest, you may consider the difference this will make to your acca (a jump of £2.20) to not be worth the bother, but we thought we’d give our two cents in case you wanted to back someone in each part of the quarter-finals.

Bet 3: Argentina vs Germany – Argentina to Win

Now we’re talking! If you’re after a proper back-and-forth contest, this one should get the pulse racing. We reckon Argentina’s Tomás Martín Etcheverry takes the opener, stopping Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff from strutting his stuff. Etcheverry hasn’t lifted much silverware this year, but he’s been a reliable quarter-finalist at several top tournaments; enough big-match experience to give him the edge. Struff, meanwhile, is coming off a win at the All In Open, but inconsistency has been his shadow all season. Facing tougher competition here, we think this is where his run comes to a halt.

The next game should be a far smoother ride for the Germans. You have Alexander Zverev, World Number Three, a man who appears to have found his own personal kryptonite in Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. But they’re not here, so it is hard to see “Sascha” being stopped in this one. He is a player who can reach the latter stages of almost any tournament he enters and is usually only halted by the absolute elite.

On the other side of the court we’ve got Francisco Cerúndolo. We rate him, he’s a superb talent, but he’s not quite at the level where he is regularly knocking out top five players unless he’s having the match of his life.

That means we think this tie will go to doubles, and that is where things get spicy. Argentina’s Andrés Molteni and Horacio Zeballos against Germany’s Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz is about as evenly matched as you could hope for, almost a coin flip. However, the Argentinians have impressed us slightly more in recent outings, so we are giving them the nod here.

Considering Argentina are underdogs at 7/4, this pick is not only our best value bet of the entire slate, but also our top recommendation if you want a single selection or a market to activate one of the many excellent free bets or sign up offers we recommend.

Bet 4: Spain vs Czechia – Spain to Win

For a change, we’re actually going to start with match two here and state the obvious. You’d be mad to bet against Alcaraz here. He and Sinner are quite simply dominating the sport right now. Apologies to Jiří Lehečka but considering the gulf in quality between them and that Alcaraz beat him last month at the US Open, we don’t need to pore over the stats much longer. Alcaraz is overwhelmingly likely to take that point.

But will it go to doubles? We think so. This first one will likely be a tighter contest, but we have seen some space between the quality of Mensik from the Czech Republic and Spain’s Munar as 2025 has unfolded. Mensik has had a stronger season overall, with standout performances at the China Open, Lexus Eastbourne Open, and the Madrid Open. And of course, his career highlight win over Djokovic at the Miami Open back in March also proves he can compete at the highest level. Munar has been solid and even impressed as recently as the Swiss Indoors, but he hasn’t quite reached the same consistent level to earn our full backing here.

If we’re right, that’ll set up a final showdown between Spain’s Marcel Granollers/Pedro Martínez and Belgium’s Tomáš Macháč/Adam Pavlásek. We think this is where the Spaniards will really shine. Pedro is solid, but Granollers is outstanding in doubles. In fact, he’s only the second Spanish player ever to reach number one in the doubles rankings, a spot he claimed just last year. While we respect Pavlasek and Machac, we don’t believe they can match Granollers’ experience and pedigree in this format. With that in mind, Spain look like the clear favourites to take the win.
