Ever since its introduction to the bookmaking industry in 1926, Coral has gone through a series of ownership changes over the years. In November 2016, Ladbrokes acquired Coral and changed its name to Ladbrokes Coral. However, the bookmaker’s website is still referred to as Coral, and both Ladbrokes and Coral continue to operate their betting shops under their respective names.

At the time of writing, Coral has millions of customers from all over the world and over 1,800 betting shops. While there is no doubt Coral is among the elite, the purpose of this review is to determine whether Coral is the best fit for you. Does Coral provide you with all the features you need from a bookmaker? Read on to find out!

Registration Process
4 / 5

  • Simple, streamlined registration process
  • Once your registration is complete, you’ll be directed to Coral’s deposits page, though you can choose not to deposit funds into your Coral account at this stage
  • You may have to submit additional identity verification details via email before making your first withdrawal

Coral Registration

Once you open the bookmaker’s website, click on the “JOIN” button at the top right of your screen. You’ll then be directed to Coral’s registration process, which consists of three steps. You can review the bookmaker’s Responsible Gambling section before registration.

The first step requires you to choose your Country of Residence and the Currency you wish to use. At the time of writing, the USD, GBP, and EUR are the only available currency options. Enter your email address, choose a unique username, and create a password. It must be noted that both the username and password must comply with Coral’s conditions. Once you’ve entered all of the above, click on the “CONTINUE” button.

Coral Signup

In the second step of the registration process, choose your gender, enter your first and last names, and your date of birth. You must be 18+ to register on Coral. Once you’ve done that, click the “CONTINUE” button.

Coral Registration

The final step of the registration process asks you to enter your home address, postcode, and mobile number. You can choose to receive information about free bets, bonuses, and offers from Coral via post, SMS, phone call, and/or email if you select any of the checklist boxes.

Once you’ve gone through the bookmaker’s Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Age & Identity Verification Policy, click on the “CREATE MY ACCOUNT” button to successfully create an account with Coral.

You’ll then be redirected to the bookmaker’s Deposits page, but you don’t have to deposit funds into your account at this point. Instead, you can go through the various markets at offer at Coral before going on to deposit funds into your Coral account.

Coral may send you an email in due course, or when you choose to withdraw funds from your account for the first time, in order to conduct further personal identity verification.

You may be required to submit documents with respect to Proof of Identity and Proof of Address. These documents will be reviewed by the bookmaker, and they should get back to you within 24 hours. It must be noted that your account will be frozen by the bookmaker until these documents are provided and approved. So long as your registration details match the information on your documents, you have nothing to worry about!

Deposit & Withdrawal Options
4 / 5

  • A plethora of payment options on offer
  • Three currencies are available
  • No deposit or withdrawal fees are charged

Coral Banking

As we mentioned in the previous section, once you’ve successfully registered on Coral, you’ll be redirected to the bookmaker’s Deposits page, but you’re not forced to deposit funds into your Coral account just yet. Instead, you can go through the various payment options on offer, gauge the markets you’d like to punt on, and deposit funds into your account accordingly.

The most popular deposit options on Coral include debit card, Deposit at Shop, NETELLER, Skrill, PayPal, paysafecard, and ecoPayz, among others. Coral doesn’t charge deposit or withdrawal fees for any payment option, but the minimum and maximum deposit amounts vary from option to option. (Note, however, that the use of credit cards has been banned since 14 April, 2020.)

Unfortunately, if you make your first deposit via Skrill, NETELLER, PayPal, or Paysafecard, you won’t be eligible for Coral’s welcome offer. You can choose to deposit funds into your account using these payment options once you have availed yourself of Coral’s welcome offer bonus.

For Debit Card, the minimum deposit amount is £5 each, while the maximum deposit amount is a paltry £20,000. For NETELLER and Skrill, the minimum deposit amount is £5 each, while the maximum deposit amounts for NETELLER is £37,500 and £25,000 for Skrill.

PayPal comes with a minimum deposit amount of £10, which is the highest of the lot. That being said, its maximum deposit amount is a mere £5,500. paysafecard and ecoPayz come with minimum deposit amounts of £5 each, and an extremely low maximum deposit amount of £770. All of these deposit methods will lead to funds being deposited into your account instantly.

When it comes to withdrawals, the maximum deposit amounts for each of these payment options is the same as the maximum withdrawal amounts. However, the minimum withdrawal amounts for each of these options is £5. It takes 2-5 working days for a Debit Card transfer to take place, while it takes up to 24 hours for the other options.

You can choose to visit any of Coral’s 1800+ betting shops, and deposit or withdraw funds there. All you have to do is present your Coral Customer ID at the shop and deposit or withdraw a minimum of £5. Funds will show up in your account immediately.

Welcome Offer
4 / 5

  • Welcome offer details are displayed on a sliding screen at the top of the bookmaker’s website
  • At the time of writing, Coral is offering its customers a welcome offer of a £20 free sports bet
  • Terms and Conditions apply for the same
  • The welcome offer is not applicable to customers depositing funds into their accounts for the first time via PayPal, Skrill, NETELLER, or paysafecard
  • Coral’s welcome offer is also available across different products if you aren’t interested in its sportsbook

Welcome Offer

As soon as you open the bookmaker’s website, you will see details of its welcome bonus displayed on a sliding screen at the top of the page. Note that you don’t have to enter a welcome bonus code during the registration process; all you have to do is follow the Terms and Conditions required to obtain the welcome offer bonus.

To get it, you have to punt £5 on any sport. Your first bet must be on a sporting market offering odds of ½ or more. Once you have placed your qualifying bet, Coral will give you 4 £5 free bets. Keep in mind that you have to place a qualifying bet within 14 days of your Coral account creation, and once you receive your free bets, you must use them within 7 days or they’ll be declared void.

If you aren’t interested in Coral’s sportsbook offerings and would rather register on Coral for its selection of other products, you need not worry – there are excellent welcome bonus offers for its other products as well! For example, when it comes to its casino, you can win a welcome offer bonus of £20 if you deposit £5 into your Coral account (with applicable T&Cs).

Sportsbook Promotions
4 / 5

  • At the time of writing, there are several exciting promotional offers available at Coral
  • Ladbrokes offered a promotional offer with respect to the Australian Open
  • Promotional offers on various sporting disciplines like football and horse racing are available as well, among others

Sportsbook

Coral offers several exciting promotional offers to its customers. To make use of them, click on thePROMOTIONSoption on the website’s main navigation bar. You’ll then come across several promotional offers.

Coral offered a promotional offer with respect to the Australian Open. If you had placed three £5+ in-play bets, you would have received a free £5 in-play bet. This promotional offer didn’t exclude cash out bets, and was valid once per match day. You could win only one free in-play bet per day, and the free bet was valid for only 7 days.

At the time of writing, there were several promotional offers in place for sports like football and horse racing. If you place an accumulator bet on any football league, with 3 or more selections, at cumulative odds of 6/4 or more, you’ll be given a 10% boost for that specific accumulator bet if you win. The boost will be paid in the form of a free bet, up to £100, within 24 hours of you winning the placed accumulator bet. The free bet is valid for only 7 days.

VIP Programme

Coral offers its customers a VIP programme (Coral Priority) for its sportsbook, casino games, scratch cards, slots, and bingo, at the time of writing. While Coral’s VIP programme is excellent and comes with several perks, it’s meant for those who are willing to pay a premium amount for these perks on a monthly basis.

There are four VIP levels, and you must earn Comp points and deposit a monthly fee in order to be a part of the bookmaker’s VIP programme. Here’s how you can earn Comp points:

  • 1 point for every £10 stake on casino games
  • 2 points for every £10 stake on slots, scratch cards, and bingo
  • 2.5 points for every £10 stake on sports single bets
  • 3 points for every £10 stake on sports multiple bets

Once you have earned 1,500 Comp points, you qualify for Coral’s Bronze Level of VIP perks. You must deposit a sum of £1,000 and the 1,500 Comp points you’ve earned. Coral’s VIP programme isn’t for everyone, as you must stake hefty sums to earn enough Comp point to qualify for a VIP level in the first place, after which you must pay a sum of money as well.

  • Bronze Level = £1,000 deposit along with 1,500 Comp points
  • Silver Level = £2,000 deposit along with 2,500 Comp points
  • Gold Level = £4,000 deposit along with 12,500 Comp points
  • Platinum Level = Invite only

You must perform this procedure on a monthly basis, or else you’ll be demoted a level. That being said, why should you opt for the VIP programme in the first place? Coral offers several wonderful perks, including weekly prizes, priority customer service, enhanced Comp point redemption, a personal account management team, and hospitality prize draws, among other notable perks.

Pre-Match Offer

  • Fascinating sportsbook offering
  • Active sports markets with competitive odds
  • 30+ sports markets on offer

Pre Match Offer

Coral offers over 30 popular sports markets to punt on at the time of writing, including football, horse racing, and tennis. Coral also offers odds on several unique markets, including fishing, hurling, and netball. There’s something on offer for almost everyone!

The minimum and maximum amounts you can stake on a particular sporting market varies, and is dependent on the odds you’re backing and the selections that you’re making for the same. That being said, while Coral is an excellent bookmaker, as a sensible punter, you must always choose a bookie that offers the best odds for a bet you want to place.

Bookmakers earn off of betting margins, and it’s on you to determine the margin of profit that a bookmaker is commanding. Any market that exceeds the 110% threshold isn’t worth punting on as it may lead to a loss. To determine the margin that a bookmaker holds, you must calculate the Odds Overround. How do you calculate this figure?

To calculate the Odds Overround, convert the fractional odds of each individual outcome of a bet into the decimal form. Then divide each of these outcomes by 100, and add the resulting numbers. The figure you obtain is the Odds Overround for the bet you want to place. For example, we calculated the Odds Overround for the Big Bash 2020, which was found to be 105.55, indicating that the market is active and that Coral provides for competitive odds.

Esports

Coral doesn’t let you down when it comes to offering odds on esports, a hot favourite among young punters and gamers. Coral caters to this audience by providing odds on several esports, including League of Legends, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

There are several tournaments taking place on a yearly basis with respect to these games, so perform your due diligence by betting on esports teams that have a good track record.

The minimum and maximum amounts you can stake on a particular esports market varies, and is dependent on the odds you’re backing and the selections you’re making for the same.

Other Specials

Coral offers odds on politics and movies, too! At the time of writing, you could choose to bet on the Next UK General Election, the 2020 US Presidential Election, and the Next Conservative Party Leader, among other markets. With regards to movies, you can bet who will come out on top at the Oscars, as well as on the Next Permanent James Bond.

The minimum and maximum amounts you can stake on a particular specials market varies, and is dependent on the odds you’re backing and the selections you’re making for the same.

Cash Out & Bet Builder

Coral offers both Cash Out and Bet Builder. Cash Out allows you to secure the possibility of some return if you feel you may lose a placed bet. The amount of return depends on the precise time you choose to cash out, and on the odds on offer at that particular time. You may see yourself receiving an amount larger or lesser than your initial stake.

Like other popular bookmakers, Coral also offers the option to build a bet according to your liking. Bet Builderallows punters to combine several football selections from different markets into a single bet. This feature is only available on Coral Mobile and its Android and Apple Mobile apps. Unfortunately, Bet Builder doesn’t apply to any other sports at the time of writing.

4 / 5

  • Live streaming is available for several sports markets, including football, tennis, basketball, and cricket, among others

If you want to stream a match live, all you need is a positive account balance on Coral. Click on the “LIVE STREAM” option found next to the “IN-PLAY” option to watch any of the in-play matches of your choice. Each week, over 2000 events are streamed live, at the time of writing.

Football and horse racing are among the most popular sports markets to be streamed live.

Security
4 / 5

  • Regulated by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission for Great Britain customers
  • Licensed by the Government of Gibraltar and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner for all other customers
  • Responsible Gambling section

Coral is regulated and licensed by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission for those residing in Great Britain, and is licensed and regulated by the Government of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner respectively for all other customers.

Coral offers its customers the utmost security. Despite having undergone a series of ownership changes over the years, Coral’s values haven’t changed. It remains a bookmaker that ensures your funds are secure on the platform, and that your personal information isn’t leaked.

The bookmaker has no links to criminal activity, and separates the costs it needs to operate its platform and shops from the winnings generated on its website. This ensures that the bookmaker can pay you back in the situation that they go bankrupt.

Coral comes with a much-needed Responsible Gambling section. To access it, scroll down to the bottom of the website and click on the “Responsible Gambling” section at the bottom left of your screen.

Coral’s Responsible Gambling section comes with several options to ensure your physical and financial well-being. Don’t waste your hard-earned money! Formulate a plan to monitor your betting.

Responsible Gambling

Coral allows you to choose a deposit limit, which will ensure you don’t put too much money into your Coral account. You can also choose to exclude yourself from certain facets of the bookmaker, or time yourself out from Coral altogether, for a certain amount of time. Coral is GamCare-certified, so if you ever feel that you’re over-exerting yourself on the platform, contact a customer support representative.

Rest assured that all the winnings generated on the bookmaker will be paid to you in full. Furthermore, all the virtual games on offer come with random number and result generators. Of course, Coral has no control whatsoever over these results, nor the possibility of you winning or losing a bet.

Ultimately, while Coral has its disadvantages, its attitude towards security is certainly not one of them.

Design & Usability
4.5 / 5

  • Wonderfully simple and aesthetically pleasing design
  • Easily accessible markets
  • A fantastic Sports Stats section with amazing insights into all sports on offer

Coral’s bookmaker website is among the most aesthetically pleasing designs out there. It comes in an easy-on-the-eyes blue, with a hint of white. The website is well-built, so navigating through the website is easy.

The website consists of a main navigation bar at the top of the page, which directs you to the sports (and other products) markets on offer, as well as its “OFFERS” section. Just below the main navigation bar, there are options to visit some of the most popular sports markets at Coral, including “FOOTBALL” and “HORSE RACING”, among others, as well as the bookmaker’s “PROMOTIONS” and “IN-PLAY” sections.

At the centre of your screen, you’ll see all those matches currently in-play under the “IN-PLAY” section. To the right of this is the “LIVE STREAM” option. Click this if you wish to live stream in-play matches. On the left of your screen, you’ll see the various sports and specials markets on offer.

You’ll find your current bet slip to the right of your screen. If you scroll down to the bottom of the website, you can visit Coral’s “Responsible Gambling section to set betting restrictions. You can contact a customer support representative by clicking on the “Contact Us” option.

The various licences held by Coral are displayed at the very bottom of the website, as well as the “Sports Stats” section at the bottom left. Access this latter section to analyse in-depth statistics of each sport on offer. This is an excellent feature that allows you to formulate a sound betting strategy.

Mobile
4.5 / 5

  • Excellent sportsbook app for both Android and Apple users
  • Separate casino app
  • App is easy to use and comes with wonderful graphics
  • You can make use of Coral’s Bet Builder feature only through its mobile-friendly website or its sportsbook app

Coral has developed a fantastic sportsbook app, available for both Android and Apple users. If you’d rather not download the app, you can make use of its mobile-friendly website through your mobile phone or desktop. The same welcome and promotional offers from the desktop version are on offer.

Coral’s sportsbook app comes with a clean design and is easy to navigate, and allows you to bet on the go, stream live matches (if you have a positive account balance on Coral), and watch match highlights. Keep in mind that Coral’s Bet Builder feature is only available through its mobile-friendly website and its sportsbook app.

Casino enthusiasts also have the option of playing their favourite casino games on Coral’s casino app.

Other Products

  • A plethora of available markets, including bingo, poker, casino games, and slots, among others
  • Several exciting games available
  • Coral Priority (VIP programme) option for casino games, bingo, slots, and scratch cards

When it comes to products other than its sportsbook, Coral doesn’t disappoint. It offers several other products, including poker, bingo, slots, and casino games, among others. There are several exciting casino games you can play, of which Giant Grizzly and Savage Jungle are among our favourites. There;s also a live casino option.

At the time of writing, Coral offered its customers a VIP programme (Coral Priority) for its casino games, scratch cards, slots, and bingo. While Coral’s VIP programme is excellent and comes with several perks, it’s meant for those who are willing to pay a premium amount for these perks on a monthly basis. See the Sportsbook Promotions section further up for more details on how Coral’s VIP programme works.

ThePuntersPage Final Say

Coral is one of the most popular bookmaker’s in the United Kingdom, offering a wide range of wonderful features. But is Coral the ideal bookmaker for you?

Having gauged the various aspects of Coral’s offerings, we’ve determined that Coral is indeed a bookmaker worth looking into, and an enticing option for you. Coral’s offerings come with several advantages, and only a few disadvantages.

Among its disadvantages are that deposit limits for debit card is a paltry £20,000, and you cannot access its welcome offer if you deposit funds into your account via Skrill, NETELLER, PayPal, or paysafecard. Futhermore, the use of credit cards has been banned since 14 April, 2020.

While Coral comes with an all-round VIP programme, you must bet a hefty amount of money on a monthly basis to earn enough Comp points to qualify for its VIP levels. Coral also offers a Bet Builder feature, but you can only access this feature via mobile. This is a negative for punters who choose to make use of the desktop version of the bookmaker’s website.

Finally, Coral offered just three esports at the time of writing. This number could have been more, and we expect Coral to work on this in the future.

As for its advantages, Coral is a safe and secure platform, offering 24/7 customer support. The bookmaker comes with a dedicated Responsible Gambling section, ensuring that you bet safely. There’s also the option to live stream matches, with 2,000 live events being streamed each week, at the time of writing.

No deposit or withdrawal fees are charged, and the bookmaker offers 30+ sports markets to punt on, as well as several specials and other products. Its “Sports Stats” section is one of its most impressive feature, allowing you to formulate a betting strategy by making use of the stats available for each sport offered.

To round it off, Coral also offers two excellent apps for its sportsbook and casino. You can download these apps for Android and Apple mobile phones.

All in all, we found that Coral is a wonderful bookmaker, and definitely among the best in the industry.
