England face Nepal in their opening game of the 2026 T20 World Cup on Sunday, 8th February. They’ll be looking to get their campaign in Group D off to a flying start and open as short as 1/100 in places, in a game they should cruise.

While this should be nothing more than a flex for Brendan McCullum’s England side, they’ve been known to slip on the odd banana skin here and there. The Netherlands beat them in both the 2009 and 2014 T20 World Cups, and they were beaten as recently as 2022 against Ireland in Melbourne.

You could argue Nepal are better than their 16th-ranked position, having just beaten the West Indies 2-1 for their first-ever bilateral T20I series win against a full member.

From a betting perspective, it’s tough to look past England, and it’s all about seeing where the value lies ahead of Sunday’s game as part of our England vs Nepal T20 World Cup betting tips.

Bet 1: Top England Batsman – Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler’s going to go down as one of England’s best white-ball players of all time. It’s not just the sheer volume of runs that he’s scored – just shy of 10,000 in ODI and T20I – but it’s the style and way he’s gone about scoring them. Brutal hitting, delicate flicks, 200+ strike rates and having the ability to anchor an innings when needed. He’s got it all.

We’re backing him for England’s top run scorer on Sunday. He comes into the game in decent form and has only scored fewer than 20 runs in three of his last 13 matches.

What’s imperative for the top batsman market when playing minnows like Nepal is backing guys high up the order. If England bowl first, they could well be chasing a modest total, which they should knock off quite comfortably. Buttler will open the batting, likely with Ben Duckett, and at 11/4, he’s a good enough price to kick off our England vs Nepal betting tips.

Bet 2: Jofra Archer 2+ Wickets

We made a bold prediction that England could win this T20 World Cup in our pre-tournament betting tips, and if they’re going to do it, Jofra Archer must be fit and firing.

On his day, Archer is up there with the best seam bowlers in the world. There’s no doubting his talents, but his injury record has plagued him. If he stays fit, he’ll play a key role in this side.

Sunday’s game takes place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It’s known as one of the best batting and seam tracks in India and is one of the few that’s not all that spin-friendly. Archer’s extra pace and bounce should prove deadly against a Nepal side not used to this sort of sustained power.

He picked up a couple of wickets in the warm-up game against Sri Lanka in Pallekele and did the same at Old Trafford in September against South Africa. Again, he’s a good price at 8/11 in a game where England should be looking to take 10 wickets against a side like Nepal.

Bet 3: Top Nepal Batsman – Aasif Sheikh

If Nepal are going to get anything from this game, then they’ll need Aasif Sheikh to continue his fine form with the bat. He was influential in the qualifying series, scoring two fifties against the UAE (51) and then in the last game against Samoa (69).

He played beautifully in the series win over West Indies, and his 68 from 47 balls in the second T20I series game is probably up there with one of the nation's best knocks, setting up their first-ever series win.

Opening the batting won’t be an easy task, but he’s the most talented batter in this squad and a more than handy wicketkeeper. He’s another good price at 9/2 and the final part of our England vs Nepal T20 World Cup betting tips.
