England survived a scare in their opening T20 World Cup game against Nepal to eventually scrape home to a four-run victory. A mixture of some pretty average bowling from the two seamers up top and a rare off-day for spinner Adil Rashid meant that there were periods of the game where a major upset seemed more likely than not.
Thanks to a brilliant spell at the death from Sam Curran, they did just enough to get their first win on the board. On Wednesday, 11th February, they face a much tougher opponent in the West Indies, who cruised to a 35-run win over Scotland in their opener.
Brendan McCullum’s side have a good record against the Windies, winning nine of the last 12 (one no result) and cruising to a 3-0 win in the most recent series against them in June 2025. They’ll be hoping for more of the same as they look to make it two wins from two at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Bet 1: England to Win
It was squeaky bum time for England in those last five overs on Sunday against Nepal. At one point, Nepal needed just 12 runs from eight balls, and it looked like a seismic upset was on the cards, resulting in an embarrassing start to their T20 World Cup campaign.
But they turned it around, mainly down to Sam Curran’s 27-1 from four, and Liam Dawson’s 21-2 from four. They’ll take a lot of confidence from that win, even though it was a game they were as short as 1/20 to win pre-match.
The West Indies will provide a sterner test, but England have an excellent record against them and have now won their last eight T20I head-to-heads in all competitions (excluding abandoned games).
We’re backing them to have a more assured performance on Wednesday against a side that have lost seven of their last 10 T20Is. Granted, odds of 9/20 aren’t that great, but as part of a wider bet builder, they are strong enough to make the cut.
Bet 2: Total Match Fours – Over 28.5
As we get into the weeds of the markets for our England vs West Indies T20 World Cup betting tips, we’ve found a nice edge with the total number of fours scored.
Over the last 12 months, England has outscored the West Indies in this regard, with 386 runs to 249, but they have played more games. Average fours per game is still higher at 18.38 to 14.65. This gives us a total of 33.03 between the pair.
Wankhede Stadium is one of the better tracks for batting in India, and the outfield is like glass, which gives us a bit of an angle here. To see the bookies setting the line at over 28.5 based on fixtures over the last 12 months seems extremely generous and a market we’re happy to take on as a result.
Bet 3: Shimron Hetmyer Over 1.5 Sixes
If the West Indies are going to beat England on Wednesday, they will need their form players to step up, and few are in better nick than Shimron Hetmyer right now.
The number three has five scores of 40 or more from seven innings in 2026 alone. He’s been one of the few constants in a batting lineup that has, for the most part, struggled for consistency.
What’s caught our eye from the markets is his devastating six-hitting. He’s cleared the ropes 26 times in his last six innings and has struck at 200+ in three of those games.
We’re getting even money from the best online betting sites for him to score over 1.5 sixes against England, which looks a huge price. The seam attack is arguably England’s weak point, so if he gets in early and takes advantage of the flat track at Wankhede, this one could be a banker.
