The 2026 ICC T20 World Cup kicks off on Saturday, 7th February in Colombo, and it’s the biggest yet. In a revised format, 20 nations will participate in the initial group stage, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with the top two from each of the four groups advancing to the Super Eights.

Betting markets have been popping this week, and it’s not surprising to see that India, with home advantage and as reigning champions, are 7/5 favourites to win their third T20 World Cup. But to do so, they’re going to have to end a strange hoodoo where no host has ever won before.

With the teams set and the opening game just a matter of hours away, let’s take a look at some of our best T20 World Cup betting tips for the tournament ahead.

Bet 1: England to Win T20 World Cup

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first. If you’re backing India at 7/5 to go back-to-back, then all power to you, brother. They’re without doubt the team to beat this year, and they’ll be strong in their own backyard.

However, we’re going against the grain and looking to see who might cause an upset this year. That team just so happens to be dear old Blighty.

England looked impressive in their 3-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka. They adapted to the pitches quickly and weren’t afraid to go spin-heavy in their bowling attack. In fact, said attack bowled beautifully throughout, headed by the evergreen Adil Rashid at the grand old age of 37 – soon to be 38.

They’ve got an incredibly well-balanced T20 side these days. The batting lineup has two of the best in the world in Phil Salt (#2) and Jos Buttler (#3), supported wonderfully by talents like skipper Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, Tom Banton and Jacob Bethell.

Adil Rashid is the fourth-highest-ranked bowler in T20I cricket. Then you’ve got Liam Dawson, Will Jacks and Rahem Ahmed, who are all in good form for the spinners, supported by Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Josh Tongue in the seam attack.

They know how to get it done, making each of the last four T20 World Cup semi-finals. They might need some help from an Indian slip, but 6/1 with some of the best cricket betting sites looks a massive price given their current form and pedigree in the format.

Bet 2: Top Batsmen – Abhishek Sharma (India)

If our pick for the T20 World Cup winner is a little controversial, there’s absolutely nothing controversial about this pick for top batsmen. India’s Abhishek Sharma is hands down the best T20I batter in the world right now, and he’s got the tools to go big here.

His numbers are absurd, averaging 37.05 and striking at a whopping 194.74. He’s already scored two T20I hundreds and has eight fifties in 37 innings.

In terms of ball strikers, he’s about as good as you get, hitting 88 sixes at almost three per innings. When you talk about box office, it doesn’t get any better than Sharma.

Of course, he heads the market as favourite, but it’s still 7/1 at Spreadex, which is more than generous. India should go well, so he’ll have plenty of opportunities to stack the runs up in conditions he’s familiar with.

There are, however, several well-priced alternatives in this market. Phil Salt (England), Travis Head (Australia), Quinton de Kock (South Africa) and Jos Buttler (England) are all good shouts. But if you want a long shot, check out Dewald Brevis for South Africa. He’s been in great form in the SA20, strikes at 171.32 in T20I and is priced at 33/1 with Ladbrokes. One of the future stars, for sure.

Bet 3: Group D Winner – South Africa

Brevis leads us into a nice segue for the Group D winner market. Let’s not beat around the bush here. Group D is strong. South Africa, New Zealand, and even Afghanistan all have world-class players, but we’re liking the look of the Proteas to get it done at 5/4.

They played well in the warm-up games against the West Indies, winning the first two comfortably by seven and nine wickets respectively, before losing a close game in Johannesburg.

What makes them dangerous is that they’ve got match winners. Quinton de Kock, Dewald Brevis (as above), David Miller, Kagiso Rabaa and Anrich Nortje can quickly take the game away from the opposition.

It’s also worth noting who they’re up against. Afghanistan and New Zealand will cause them the biggest headaches, but both are streaky, and NZ were well beaten in their warm-up games against India.

This is a tough group, but at 5/4, South Africa are the strongest of the five teams and a good price to win Group D.
