Gian van Veen vs Danny Noppert: Noppert to Win
Danny Noppert has come to this tournament with a point to prove after missing out on a place in this year’s Premier League Darts. He came through the first round with a comprehensive 6-1 win over Basem Mahmood, averaging 92.97 and hitting three 180s.
Gian van Veen beat Man Lok Leung 6-2 with a three-dart average of 90.95 and two 180s. While van Veen is favourite, Noppert seems to be in a good place, and we are backing him to advance to the semis.
Luke Humphries vs Nathan Aspinall: Match Double – Humphries to Win and Humphries Most 180s
World number two Luke Humphries swept aside Abdulla Saeed 6-0 and looked to be in imperious form. A three-dart average of 103.66 underlines this. Nathan Aspinall came through 6-4 against Lourence Ilagan, who proved to be a difficult opponent.
We think that Humphries will come through comfortably in this one. We think that the price at bet365 of 15/8 for him to win and hit the most 180s is good value.
Luke Littler vs Gerwyn Price: Over 9.5 Legs
Luke Littler is the man to beat, and he is justifiably favourite to win this match and the tournament as a whole. A three-dart average of 106.5 from his first-round match tells you everything you need to know.
However, it must be noted that Gerwyn Price has a superb record at this tournament. In our Bahrain Masters betting guide, we tipped Price for victory should Littler and Humphries falter. And it must be remembered that Price beat Littler at this stage last year. We think that he will pull out all of the stops and push Littler hard. We reckon that this one may go the distance, so over 9.5 legs is a bet worth looking at.
Michael van Gerwen vs Stephen Bunting: Bunting to Win
Michael van Gerwen goes into this one as favourite, however, he was pushed harder than he would have liked by Alexis Toylo in the first round. Defending champion Stephen Bunting will want to retain his title and has a point to prove after a disappointing World Championships. We are backing Bunting to continue his positive record in this tournament and go through to the semifinals.
