The winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize is set to be announced on Friday 10th October at 10:00 BST. And US President Donald Trump has consistently been among the leading contenders with the bookies and is currently the 4/1 second favourite with Coral, behind Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms. Mr Trump has been vocal about his desire to land the award, and our question is whether the US President can win and is therefore worth a punt.

US President Donald Trump is currently second favourite to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2025.

Donald Trump Nobel Peace Prize Odds 2025

Trump is currently 4/1 with Coral. He was 3/1 in July before drifting to 6/1 by mid-September. He was as short as 2/1 last week, however, since then the odds have lengthened slightly. Sudan’s Emergency Rooms have emerged as the favourite for the award over the past couple of months. For more information on wagering on this award check out our guide to Nobel Peace Prize betting. Donald Trump: Could he Get the Nobel Peace Prize?

The Nobel Peace Prize is something that Trump has set his sights on. He has labelled himself the “president of peace” and, as reported by CBS News, has claimed to have ended six or seven wars during his second presidential term. Despite this, CBS have stated that Mr Trump told them that he is not seeking the prize.

Trump Nominated: But Has it Come Too late?

Mr Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize during his first term in office. And, in June this year, the government of Pakistan nominated him. This was followed in July by a nomination from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. And, within the last week, the Israeli Families Forum urged the committee to honour Mr Trump, citing his attempt to broker a deal to bring home the remaining hostages taken by Hamas on 7th October 2023. However, the deadline for nominations for this year's award was January, meaning that while he could have missed the boat in 2025, he could be a strong contender in 2026.

Norwegian Nobel Committee May Not be Impressed by Trump

In order to land the award, Trump must be considered worthy by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. And while this may be the case, there are also reasons why the committee may choose not to honour the US President, even if they may accept his achievements regarding the promotion of peace to be valid and commendable.

The Scotsman have outlined several reasons why it is felt that Trump will not be declared the winner on Friday. These include Trump’s stance on refugees, which appears to be at odds with the Committee’s views. His views on climate change and international organisations could be viewed as being out of keeping with the Nobel Committee’s principles and several other controversies involving the President could also influence matters.

Timing appears to be the most crucial issue. Many of Trump’s highly publicised nominations appear to have come after the January deadline. And there is also the feeling that his peace deals must prove that they can stand the test of time. Barack Obama’s 2009 award was considered somewhat premature in some quarters.

The US Election results, which led to Trump’s two terms of office, prove that he is not a man you can write off and that he possesses a substantial following. However, we feel that while there may have been a lot of money staked on him at the best betting sites in the UK, winning that prize, he will not prove successful in 2025, and you may be better advised to put your money elsewhere.
