German Bundesliga 2020 Betting Tips & Predictions
The top tier of German football sees 18 teams fight it out for the championship. However, statistics tell us that there's only one likely winner, and that is the same team that have lifted the Meisterschale for the past eight seasons: Bayern Munich. Yes, these European champions look stronger than ever, particularly now that they have bought Leroy Sane home from Manchester City.
Fans of Die Roten will also be keen to see if Robert Lewandowski, who bagged over 50 goals in all competitions last season, can finally shatter Gerd Muller’s long standing record of 40 goals in a single Bundesliga season. At the very least, we can say with almost absolute certainty that Bayern will be champions once more, and Lewandowski should again top the leading goal scorer charts.
Borussia Dortmund are rightfully second favourites, but finished 13 points behind the champions last season. With Jadon Sancho staying put, Dortmund have kept hold of the England-born trio of Sancho, Erling Haaland and Giovanni Reyna, who together could strike fear into the rest of the league, if not Munich themselves.
Both Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig have lost their star players this window to Chelsea in Kai Havertz and Timo Werner respectively, and have yet, at the time of writing at least, to sign adequate replacements, meaning they could well come up short on last year’s efforts this time around.

Popular German Bundesliga Betting Markets
Bundesliga betting has become extremely popular, especially in the modern era of internet betting which allows for greater access to viewers and potential punters located overseas. And, because of the prestige internationally assigned to Germany’s top tier division, there is no shortage of interest in Bundesliga football betting opportunities. We've compiled all the top markets for this competition below.
An outright winner’s bet is nothing more complicated than a bet made at the start of or during the season that aims to correctly predict who the winning team of the league will be. Bear in mind that, over the past two decades, Bayern Munich have been crowned champions of Germany an overwhelming amount of times.
All leagues must have a top scorer; that is, the player that finishes with more goals than anyone else. Naturally, this aspect of the game creates a desire for a betting market among punters. Over recent seasons, this bet has been short-priced thanks to legendary performances, but this could change at any point – any player has the potential to produce record breaking seasons. Who could win the golden boot this year?
Weekly Fixture Accumulator
Accumulators are bets with multiple selections where each winning selection rolls on to the others to create a boosted total winning payout. There isn’t really a minimum amount of selections to an acca – even doubles count – and there isn’t a maximum either. In addition, there are full cover and system bets, along with other options that come with lots of different permutations. To that end, when looking through the week's or weekend’s Bundesliga fixture list, it is definitely worth considering placing one or more accumulator bets.
First Goal Scorer
A first goal scorer bet in the Bundesliga is the same as a first scorer bet in any other league. You'll need to correctly predict the player that you believe will get the game’s first goal. You can, of course, back a No Goal Scorer bet too if you have a feeling that the game will be a bore draw.
Tournament Structure for the German Bundesliga
There are 18 teams in the Bundesliga, drawn from right across the nation. It is one of four European leagues that is dominant enough to be given four Champions League places, along with Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A and England’s Premier League. As with the others, these four places are awarded for the top four finishers in the table. These places are determined by the season’s performance, in which each team plays each other one time at home and one time away. Three points are given to the winning team, while one point each is allocated for a draw and zero points are awarded to the losing team. The bottom two Bundesliga teams will be relegated.
History of the German Bundesliga
Germanys’ top tier division of professional football, the Bundesliga, dates back to August 24th, 1963 following a meeting held in Dortmund. The tournament was established by Max Morlock, Helmut Rahn and Hans Schäfer that same year, with the aim of dragging German football into the professional era. Surprisingly, for a nation that has enjoyed so much international success, West Germany, as it was known at the time, was the last European country to establish a central football league. In 1965, games began being broadcast on live TV. Since its inception, the league has undergone a number of alterations to its structure, but today it is administered by the German Football League, with the format of 18 competitive teams making up a Bundesliga season.
