Nobel Peace Prize Betting Tips

When looking at Nobel Prize predictions, it is important to keep abreast of current affairs and to read around key subjects. The identity of the nominees is not released before the prize is awarded and even then, only the winner is revealed, with the names of the other nominees kept under wraps for 50 years.

This year, there is speculation that Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms, Yulia Navalnaya and Donald Trump are thought to be among the frontrunners. We have been monitoring the major press releases and tuning in to the top news channels to keep bang up to date. Therefore, these are our Nobel Peace Prize betting tips.

Yulia Navalnaya: Symbol of non-violent protest as a strong candidate (6/1 odds at Coral)

The bookies are leaning towards Yulia Navalnaya being honoured with the prestigious award this time round. The widow of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has won global recognition and respect for her leadership, courage and dignity, following her husband’s death. She has emerged as a champion of non-violent protest, democracy, resistance and activism. Given the strong feelings evoked by events in Russia and their conflict with Ukraine, we think that she is very likely to receive the prestigious award in December.

Don’t rule out Volodymyr Zelensky (6/1 odds at BetMGM)

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been one of the favourites each year since 2022, when the Russia/Ukraine war began. He has developed a global reputation for strong leadership and has been involved in regular talks with several nations to resolve the situation. He is, once again, a strong contender, and we think that, while there are more likely winners, it is a possibility. Though being a current wartime leader may count against him.

Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms: Odds shortening, now (11/4 with Coral)

If you are looking to back an organisation, then Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms could offer decent value. They have played a vital role in humanitarian efforts, in the ongoing Sudanese Civil War, helping millions. While there are more high-profile nominees out there, we feel that the committee will be impressed by the organisation’s work. At one point the odds were 16/1 with some bookies. Now your best price is 5/2 with Coral.

[Bonus] Donald Trump Nobel Peace Prize Odds: (4/1with Coral)

Few people can divide opinions like US President, Donald Trump. Due to this, we think that he could be worth a speculative punt. And the bookies are still listing Trump Nobel Peace Prize odds among the shortest. The Guardian reported that Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of nominating Trump for his efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East. And the BBC reported, in June, that Pakistan were planning to nominate Trump as recognition for his role in negotiations for a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Whether the committee will be as impressed by Trump’s efforts remains to be seen, but many observers said that he would not get voted in for another term as US President and were proved wrong. Odds of Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize have lengthened in recent weeks and we think that there are other more likely candidates. However, history has shown that he can never be written off an election.

With nominees not officially revealed, there are a lot of markets still ruled out. However, there are a few betting options related to the Nobel Peace Prize, and we have outlined the main ones.

All the bookies that offer Nobel Peace Prize odds have this market. Simply choose who you think will be elected for the prize by the committee.

Most of the leading Nobel Peace Prize betting sites state that they have other markets available on request. One of these is the chance to bet on the nationality of the winner. If you pick the correct nationality, your bet will pay out.

You can bet on whether the winner will be an individual or an organisation, as both are eligible for nominations.

You can wager on whether the winner will be male or female.

How to Bet on Nobel Peace Prize

Thinking of placing a bet on the Nobel Peace Prize this year? Check out our step-by-step guide and use it to outline your betting strategy.

What Is the Nobel Peace Prize Award?

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes that was established by the will of Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel. The other prizes are for Chemistry, Physics, Physiology or Medicine, and Literature. It was first awarded in 1901 and, barring a few exceptions, has been given annually ever since.

The award is designed to recognise people who have done the most, or the best, work for fraternity between nations, promotion of peace congresses and the abolition – or reduction – of standing armies.

The recipient is selected by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The prize award ceremony is held in Oslo City Hall, in December, with the winner revealed in October.

Who Are the Current Nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize?

There are 338 nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize, 244 are individuals and 94 are organisations. The deadline for nominations was January 31, 2025, and there was a chance for members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee to add further names in a meeting held in late February. There is a large increase in nominees from 2024, where there were 286 nominees.

The Nobel Committee does not confirm the names of the nominees to the media or to the candidates. The names of nominees are only released 50 years after the prize has been awarded. We have, however, listed some of the likely ones for this year.

Leadership, democratic activism, non-violent protest on a global stage.

Attempts to de-escalate the India/Pakistan conflict and the pursuit of peace and security in the Middle East.

Leadership, courage and efforts to find a solution to the conflict with Russia.

For championing the need for diplomacy in several conflicts and for environmental issues.

Global youth climate activist, who has promoted environmental issues and peace.

Humanitarian response during civil war.

How Does Someone Wins the Nobel Peace Prize?

When looking to bet on the Nobel Peace Prize or make Nobel Prize predictions, it is important to know how to win a Nobel Peace Prize. If you know the criteria and the process, then you are more likely to make informed choices. Each year, the Norwegian Nobel Committee specifically invites qualified people to submit nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize. Those qualified to nominate are members of national assemblies and governments, members of the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the International Court of Justice, selected academics, members of the Institut de Droit, and former and permanent advisors to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

Nominations must usually be submitted to the committee by the beginning of February in the award year. Nominations by committee members can be submitted up to the date of the first Committee meeting after this deadline.

Nominations are considered by the Nobel Committee at a designated meeting, where a shortlist of candidates for further review is created. The Nobel Committee typically decides a winner in mid-September, ahead of the official announcement in October and the ceremony in December.

When Is the Nobel Peace Prize Announced?

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize is announced in October. The ceremony takes place in Oslo, in December.
