- William Hill Radio live commentary
- Numerous sportsbook promotions
- Unique special bets outside of sports
Registration Process
- Two-step registration
- Basic information required
- Verify identity to activate account
As you would expect from William Hill, creating an account is as straightforward as can be, using a simple two-step process. You are first asked to enter your full name and surname, date of birth, e-mail, mobile number and residential address. Once this is done, you can set up your username and password.
Of course, as we are dealing with a site that will hold sensitive financial information, you will want to ensure that password is both unique and strong. Another important note on these details is that William Hill has a strict one account per person rule. Most people expect this. However, a lot of people don’t realise that this also extends to their e-mail address as well as their IP address. That’s right. If someone else that uses your computer has a William Hill account, this could affect your ability to enjoy promotions in the future. So, check and be sure that is not the case to avoid disappointment.
As an added security measure, Williams Hill will prompt you to set a security question just in case you eventually forget your password, and also gives you the chance to set a limit on the amount that you can deposit into your account every day, week, or month. This is an absolutely vital step in ensuring responsible gaming and goes a long way to show us how serious William Hill is in that regard. To activate your account, you will need to verify your identity by uploading Proof of Identity (your passport or driving license) and Proof of Address.

With all that said, we know that seeing is truly believing. That’s why not only have we explained what to expect, but we are also going to show you by presenting our actual process of depositing, betting with and withdrawing funds.
First off, hit the deposit button at the top of the screen. From there, you will be able to choose between different payment options. We went with Visa and then had to include the above information, all of which can be found on your bank card. Once this was complete, we hit deposit and got the following confirmation:
We were now able to bet on whatever we wanted.
We went with a short odds bet for Luca Brecel to beat Ken Doherty. Once the bet was over, we could see the result under settled bets, which we found amongst our account options.
As you can see, we were lucky enough to win. This meant we could now withdraw our winnings, which required us to hit withdraw in our account and tell the site how much we wanted to take out.
Once we entered the amount and hit continue and confirm on the page, our money began being transacted. And that, as they say, is all she wrote. It really is that simple. Anyone with any amount of experience of buying anything online should have no problem here whatsoever. And if they do, customer service is always on hand to help. This gets full marks from us.
Welcome Offer
- Bet £10 Get £30 credited as 2 x £15 bets
- Use promo code H30
- Bet £10 on odds of 1/2 or more
William Hill’s welcome offer consists of a very generous £30 free bet (credited as 2 x £15 bets) when you bet £10. Before we go into the terms and conditions do note that here and in general, that promotions and their terms and conditions are always subject to change. That is why this is an overview of the most important points, and you should always check on the site yourself for the most up to date details.
To benefit from this offer, simply use the promo code H30 when creating an account and wager with £10 or more on selections with odds of ½. Your free bet can be used on any sportsbook product (excluding tote, pool, and lottery bets) and once you receive your free bets, you will have 30 days to use them before they expire. It is important to note that if you deposit funds into your account using PayPal, Neosurf, Paysafe, NETELLER, Skrill, or William Hill PLUS Card then you will not be able to redeem this offer. Although disappointing to some, this kind of condition is so commonplace that we cannot consider it a negative in our rating, at least not in comparison to other bookmakers.
Importantly, you will only get the winnings from your free bet and the not the free bet stakes amount, and of course you cannot withdraw any funds until the free bet tokens have been spent. Overall, this is a really excellent way of introducing William Hill to sportsbook fans, as it’s simple and offers real value on a wide variety of markets.
Sportsbook Promotions
- Several promotions offered
- Acca Bet Boost
- In-Play Insurance
- No VIP/Loyalty programme
One area where William Hill definitely excels is in the abundance of sportsbook promotions that it offers to its players. With a mixture of free bets, special odds, and money back rewards in specific football, horse racing, tennis, and cricket offers as well other general sports promotions, no matter what you are interested in betting on, you will likely find a offer to take advantage of. What is even better is that these promotions are constantly being updated, so if you don’t see something that interests you, check back in a couple of weeks and see what’s been added.
William Hill’s Bet Boost gives you the chance to get enhanced odds on your acca bets which have 3+ selections. The bigger the price, the bigger the boost. To take advantage of this offer simply choose your selections, apply your stake, and select the Bet Boost button on your bet slip. The maximum stake that can be boosted is £20, and this boost is available on all sports except for Horse Racing and Greyhounds.
The Tennis and Cricket In-Play Insurance promotion allows you to get 10% of your in-play losses (up to £100) back as a free bet. Free bets for the previous week will be credited every Monday. Bets must be placed on singles only and must be placed on live betting matches. Multi bets and pre-match bets are not valid for the offer.
Horse Racing fans also have something to be cheerful about thanks to the best odds guaranteed promotion, this way you will get the best price if the SP is greater than the price taken. This essentially means you are getting the best value option no matter when you bet. And sticking with horse racing for the moment is their extra places promotion, which gives you enhanced each way terms at 1/5 odds.
Another really interesting promotion is the use of flash odds. This is where you are offered odds on events that are currently happening in-play. It could be whether a penalty is scored or whether a player is sent off for instance. The reason they are called flash odds is that they are gone, well, you can probably guess.
VIP/Loyalty Programme
At the time of writing this, William Hill does not offer its sports players any VIP or loyalty programmes. The only form of a VIP programme can be found in the company’s Casino platform – which we will discuss more of later in this William Hill review.
Pre-Match Offer
- 34 different sports to play on
- Competitive odds
- Esports and specials betting available
- Cash out, partial cash out, and request a bet options
You cannot become of one of top betting sites in the world if you do not have a good sportsbook – so, as you can imagine, William Hill’s pre-match offering is on a highly elevated level. At the time of writing this William Hill review, players can choose to play bets on no less than 34 different sports. Each sport consists of lots of different leagues (both major and minor) from all around the world and as you would expect, include an abundance of international sporting events. Within each league, you can choose to bet on an incredible number of markets and submarkets. The top much of the day had 385 different markets so bet on, including the likes of total team cards, double chance, and half time/full time. William Hill also provides Enhanced Odds on selected markets for you to enjoy.
All that being said, however, there is no point in having a fantastic sportsbook offering if your odds are not competitive and attractive to players. To measure the quality of William Hill’s margins we used the odds overround. The overround in a calculation which combines the total percentage probability of all selections in a match coming true. Naturally, the result of this should come to 100% – however this does not factor in the profits made by the bookmaker. For this reason, it is widely accepted that any figure below 110% is considered to indicate fair odds.
To measure the quality of William Hill’s odds, we picked three random football matches from the English Premier League: Spanish La Liga, and UEFA Champions League. The results came to 105.0%, 105.3 and 106.5% which show that William Hill’s margins are in fact very competitive. If you would like to calculate the odd overround for yourself, check out our handy Overround, Betting Margin and Pay-Out Calculator
At William Hill you can choose to display your odds as fractions, decimals, or American. The minimum stake for a bet is 3p for singles and multiple bets. The maximum stake however is quite a bit more fluid. As is often the case it entirely depends on the market in question. It is based on many factors, including both the popularity of that particular event, and how evenly bets are spread across the markets offered. It can also depend on your individual account, especially if any notable restrictions are in place. With all that being said this is an area where William Hill benefit from being one of the biggest in the business. Only the highest of high rollers need ever have to worry about hitting those maximum amounts. If you are unsure though, you can always ask customer service. Or you can simply make your bet and see if it is accepted.
Esports
Building further on the variety that it offers, William Hill’s esports section allows players to place outright bets on a wide range of games, including Call of Duty, League of Legends, Counter Strike, Overwatch, or Rainbow Six. While the amount of markets per event is not as large as its traditional sporting equivalents, that is typical. Compared to other e-sports offerings, we would still consider William Hill’s variety in this regard to be very generous. We’ve compiled a separate list of some important esports betting tips to consider that can improve your chances of winning at esports betting.
Other Specials
If you feel like taking a break from betting on sports and want to bet on something a bit different, then William Hill has got you covered. On this betting site you can choose to bet on a wide variety of specials relating to politics and TV and even awards shows. Obviously, what markets are available entirely depends on what is going on at that particular time, there is not set schedule of events here. The only way to know if a market is right for you is to check them out yourself. So if you’re feeling confident about who the next President of the United States will be, or the winner of Best Picture at the Oscars, you needn’t look any further.
Cash Out & Bet Builder
You can take full control of your bets with William Hill’s Cash Out and Partial Cash Out features. Secure your winnings on single and multiple bets before your bet has settled by heading to the Open Bets section and selecting the green ‘Cash Out’ icon when it is available. If you are not satisfied with the markets available, you can also create your own custom bets at William Hill with #YourOdds. Simply send a tweet to @WilliamHill with #YourOdds and your desired selections, and the company will inform you if these can be priced up. We always suggest sending in bet requests well in advance to give the bookie enough time to process them.

Security
- License by the Gambling Commission of Great Britain
- Option to set a series of financial controls on your account
- Detailed Privacy Policy
William Hill is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission of Great Britain for its operations in Britain, and holds a license from the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner for all other international customers. What this essentially means is William Hill is both legitimate and regulated, and they have to adhere to a strict set of ethical standards.
One aspect of this is responsible gaming, which the company puts a great deal of emphasis on. As a William Hill customer, if you are concerned about the amount that you are gambling, you will be able to set a series of controls on your account, including Deposit Limits, Product Blocking, Session Time Reminders, Short Time Out, and Total Self Exclusions. The site also lists tips for identifying problematic gambling, parental control tools to prevent underage betting, and numerous links to third party gambling addiction support groups.
William Hill offers a comprehensive Privacy Policy section on its website detailing how customer data is collected and used by the customer. Although the site says that it uses ‘various measures’ to protect its customers’ data, at the time of writing this William Hill review, there was no further information listed as to what these measures are.
Service and Customer Support
- 24/7 customer service
- Available through multiple channels
- Comprehensive on-site help page
William Hill offers a robust help section with detailed answers on a vast number of queries and topics that users might have. It is clear to see that a lot of time has been invested into making this feature very user-friendly. If you are unable to find an answer to your query, however, you can contact William Hill’s customer service team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year through a variety of channels, including live chat, telephone, email, or social media.
With that said seeing is believing so we checked out the customer service via live chat and e-mail. We couldn’t, at the time of writing our William Hill review, get through on their usual phone lines, however this is due to the current coronavirus pandemic of 2020, which has unfortunately caused staff shortages. Obviously, we will not take this into account in our scores.
The first time we got in touch with customer service was while we waited for a successful bet to be processed. This was a minor technical error and they sorted it out right away, reassured us about the result and also asked if we wanted any other assistance once the problem had been resolved. Fast and informative – we really couldn’t find anything to fault here.
Our interactions via e-mail were just as impressive. One important note before we move on, though: the customer service team will only respond to you if you have a registered account; we tried to contact them from an unregistered e-mail, but were unable to. So, keep that in mind. The response here though is excellent – we asked about using the same method to withdraw as we used to deposit, and the amount of detail given was truly above and beyond. The only criticism we have is that we think that the e-mail service should be also available to those without accounts, because people may have questions before signing up. Other than that, our experience was virtually flawless.
Design & Usability
- Great looking website
- Very user friendly
- Available in 17 languages
Combining the simple, timeless design seen on many betting sites, the William Hill website looks great. Some might say that this design is a little too conservative, especially since the site has a majority white colour scheme; however, given that William Hill is almost 90 years old, we think a classic look fits this aesthetic perfectly. The site is also available in 17 different languages.
All other aspects of the William Hill’s website are laid out nicely, and the various tabs leading to the sports betting markets (and the company’s other betting platforms) are very easy to find. Sliders fill up the upper and easternmost portions of the site, but fit into the layout cleanly and do not look gimmicky in any way. On a more important level, the overall betting process from start to finish is very easy and uncomplicated, and the Help, Responsible Gambling, and Contact links can be found at the bottom of the page, with the ‘Join’ tab clearly visible at the top of the page. Overall, everything comes together seamlessly for a highly user-friendly betting experience.
Mobile
- Fantastic mobile app
- Mobile Exclusive Welcome Offer

The William Hill mobile app is available to download for free on both Android and Apple devices, and is one of the most comprehensive betting apps we have ever seen. Navigating between the different sections of the app is extremely straightforward, with all pages being highly responsive. Everything is laid out nicely, which is no easy feat given the sheer amount features that have been packed into this app.
Promotions, live betting, live scores, #YourOdds bet requests, customer service, deposit options and casino are just some of the many features you can take advantage of while betting on the go with William Hill. ThePuntersPage Final Say and Overall Rating
All in all, William Hill is a fantastic betting site, and there really isn’t much room to fault it. It ticks all the right boxes, offering an abundance of professionally designed features that can easily appeal to both novice and expert bettors. A few very minor snags here and there are the reason we are not giving William Hill full marks; however, the company’s pros overshadow these slight flaws by a long shot. We would have absolutely no trouble recommending William Hill to anybody who is thinking of beginning their betting journey – or to those who simply want to try out a new bookmaker.

After reading this review, I decided to sign up to William Hill not just because it sounds really good here but also just because they are a name I already know and I didn’t want to sign up to anything too complicated/gimmicks. They are actually even better than I expected. Pretty much anything you could ever want betting wise is here, signing up takes a minute, odds always seem decent and the live streaming especially on horse racing is mint. They even have loads of casino stuff that I don’t think they are as well known for. Happy I picked them.
