Two stalwarts of the heavyweight division go head-to-head at the O2 Arena as former WBC Champion Deontay Wilder takes on Derek Chisora, who has challenged for two world titles during his career. The bout will be the 50th professional fight for both Wilder and Chisora, and we have identified a number of betting opportunities ahead of the fight.
Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora Odds
While both fighters have undoubtedly been top class at their peak, it must be acknowledged that those days are over. Wilder was unbeaten in the professional ranks before his trilogy with Tyson Fury, which ended in a draw and two victories for the Gypsy King. Since his second loss to Fury in 2021 the Bronze Bomber has lost two of his four fights and, at 40 years old, it looks as though age is catching up.
Chisora, who has been a consistent challenger at the top-end of the heavyweight division since turning pro in 2007, has won his last three contests. Prior to this, he suffered four losses in five fights between October 2020 and December 2022, where he pitched up short against top class opposition in the form of Oleksandr Usyk, Joseph Parker (twice) and Tyson Fury. Chisora, 42, could well bring down the curtain on his career whatever the result on Saturday.

Winner/Round Range: Chisora 4-6
With all due respect to Derek Chisora, we believe that a prime Deontay Wilder would have had too much for him. Nobody in the professional ranks had an answer to Wilder until he came up against Tyson Fury. And in their first bout he became the first man to avoid defeat against the Gypsy King in a professional fight. However, since then Wilder, at his peak a phenomenally powerful puncher, has looked like a shadow of himself.
He saw off Robert Helenius a year after his second loss to Fury but then suffered consecutive defeats to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang. He then got back to winning ways against Tyrrell Anthony Herndon last year. Chisora seems to be showing greater longevity and comes into the contest on the back of three straight wins after his 2022 defeat to Fury.
If Wilder is to win, then we feel he will have to get things done early. If he can rediscover his superb punching power and land one on Chisora, it could be all over. However, we feel that if the fight goes beyond four rounds, then Wilder will run out of steam and Chisora will wear him down. We are backing the Briton to deal with Wilder early on and then get the fight finished between rounds four and six. We think that 29/5 at SBK is good value.
Over/Under Rounds: Under 7.5
Only three of Wilder’s fights have gone the distance. And we do not expect this one to either. If the American is to win then he will need to do it early. We think that Chisora will weather the storm and then finish things. And we think that this will happen within seven rounds.
Method of Victory: Chisora by KO/TK0/DQ/TD
As we have said above, we do not see this one going the distance. We think that Chisora will come strong in the middle of the fight and will do enough to get a stoppage. Most of Chisora’s recent fights have been decided on points; his last win by TKO was against David Price in 2019. However, win or lose, Wilder rarely goes the distance, and we expect Chisora to end things in the middle to later stages of the bout. We think that 11/8 at Betfred is a good price.
