Betfred is an absolute staple of online betting, offering a wide range of sports for us to place wagers on. A beautiful website filled to the brim with sporting events is the very first thing that meets the eye upon visiting Betfred, and the left-side margin beautifully reveals every sport that Betfred has on offer. The tabs above the sporting events also include Betfred’s Casino and Poker service, meaning that this bookmaker has something for absolutely everyone.

Registration Process
5 / 5

Just like with any other bookie, Betfred requires its customers to create an account before playing. Unlike many other bookies, this process is completely painless and very intuitive.

The very first thing a new customer will have to do, is click the “register” button found in the top right-hand corner, an action that brings up the following screen:

Registration

As you can see at the top of the registration form, Betfred gives us an easy overview over all the steps included in the registration process.

As soon as you have chosen a username and password, you will be brought to the “personal” section of the registration.

Register

Here, all you need to do is fill out your own personal information. It is important that this information is correct and up-to-date, seeing as you are quite likely to be asked to confirm your personal information later for KYC purposes.

The next step in registering an account with Betfred is known as the “contact” step.

Contact Details

In “contact, you simply have to provide Betfred with the correct way of contacting you. This is done for KYC reasons and to make sure that your account is being kept safe.

The second to last step in the registration process is the “address” step.

Address

Here, you are simply asked to provide Betfred with your correct address and this address needs to match your residential address as held by your bank.

Finally, Betfred will ask you to confirm your settings as shown below. This section will allow you to set your preferred currency, as well as set your personal marketing preferences. Once this step is completed, you are good to go!

Betfred’s registration process is very easy and intuitive. You are guided through the process step-by-step, and the whole thing takes less than two minutes.

Deposits and Withdrawal options
4 / 5

As you can see from the image above, Betfred accepts deposits with Visa and MasterCard payment cards, Maestro, Neteller, Pingit, Skrill, Paysafecard and ApplePay. It is also worth noting that PayPal is also accepted. All of these are secure and works well, but the quickest method for withdrawal, is Neteller, Skrill and Paypal.

There are no fees for any of the abovementioned methods, and the approximate process time is 1-3 days for payment cards, and within 24 hours for PayPal, Neteller and Skrill. Betfred also offers customers one free bank transfer, as long as this is requested within 28 days of setting up your account. Bank transfers can still be used after the 28 day period, but then a £12 fee is applied for standard transfer, and £25 for urgent transfer.

Welcome Offer

Just like any responsible bookmaker, Betfred will require you to confirm that you are who you claim that you are, a process which is also known as KYC (Know Your Customer). Any new customer will eventually be asked to upload proof of ID (usually passport or ID-card), as well as a recent (within 3 months) utility bill containing the registered address.

Betfred has a maximum withdrawal amount of £20 000 for bank transfer, £8 000 for Skrill, £5 000 for Paypal and £15 000 for other ewallets.

Although Betfred is about as trustworthy as they come, some people still get stressed at the thought of the banking process. However, there really is no need. If you’ve ever bought anything online or even if you haven’t, there should be nothing here that can’t be solved in a matter of minutes.

And to prove that fact we are going to be taking you through our actual process of depositing, betting, and withdrawing funds so you can see exactly what you’re in for should you decide that Betfred is the right betting site for you.

After your registration you will be asked to choose your preferred deposit method, which is fairly self-explanatory. We choose Debit cards and moved onto the next page.

Amount

After adding our card details, we could then add a deposit amount by using the CVC number and our password, this is also what you will find when you select deposit from the homepage.

My Account

Once we added the funds we received this confirmation page showing us that our account balance had now been topped up, from here, we were free to bet on whatever we wished.

BetSlip

We decided to go against the bookmakers this time by putting £10 on United to beat City because we thought they’d gotten particularly generous odds on this occasion. Luckily for us, our bet came out a winner, meaning that when we checked our Bet slip, we found the following:

Bet

Our £10 bet had won us £40, meaning that £50 was now available to withdraw, and we also had £30 worth of free bets.

Withdraw

If you want to withdraw funds at any point then simply go onto your account(it’s where you will also find your most up to date balance, right next to the deposit button), and head into withdrawals. Once here you can choose how much you want to withdraw. This shouldn’t require any additional details as you withdraw via the same method as your deposit.

Banking

We then received this message and indeed our funds were available in our account within a week.

And that’s all there is to it, as you can see the whole process can be completed in a matter of minutes and should be familiar to pretty much everyone who has used anything other than cash to pay for anything. Our experience was completely flawless and we have to hand it to Betfred for crafting such a seamless process.

Welcome Offer
4 / 5

Betfred’s standard welcome offer is a £30 free bet + 60 spins, which can be redeemed after you place one bet of at least £10 at odds of evens or greater at any sports market. Your free £30 bet + 60 spins will be credited to your account within 10 hours of placement of the qualifying offer. It is important to notice that whilst the only thing you need to do to get the welcome bonus is to place a bet of £10 or more, this bet must be placed at odds of even or higher. Your bet does not have to win in order for you to get the welcome bonus.

In some cases, Betfred will require customers to answer an automated SMS-validation before free bet is accredited. This has to be done within 60 days of receiving the SMS, if not, the bonus will be cancelled.

Deposits made via pre-paid Visa and Mastercard will not qualify for this welcome offer, neither will deposits made with e-wallets. The welcome offer is only available to UK-based customers, or customers based in Northern Ireland.

In addition to this sportsbook welcome offer, Betfred also offers a nice casino welcome offer to new customers. As soon as you place a wager of £10 or higher in Betfred’s casino, your account will be credited with 50 free spins. The games that new customers can spend their 50 free spins on varies, but there is always a wide range of popular games on offer, making sure that you can enjoy a little break from sports betting and potentially win big without wagering your own money.

Sportsbook Promotions
3 / 5

At the time of writing, Betfred does not offer customers any other bonuses than the aforementioned welcome bonus. This might at first glance seem annoying to some customers, but the truth is that Betfred puts all their effort into providing us with good odds and a beautiful, intuitive and player friendly sportsbook which could quite easily be ruined by constant and complicated bonuses. The welcome bonus can help players get started in a good way, but a whole host of weekly bonuses often serves little purpose other than to have us punters spend money we rather wouldn’t spend.

By only offering us a good and interesting welcome offer but not much more, Betfred tells us that they care about the punters. They want us to place our bets at Betfred because we love and care about sports betting, not because Betfred gives us outrageous bonuses that we can’t afford to turn down.

Seasonal promotions and offers will, of course, take place at Betfred, meaning that we occasionally can boost our account with some nice bonuses. Check in at Betfred’s website regularly to stay up-to-date on relevant promotions as these will change all the time.

Pre-match offer
5 / 5

Betfred gives us very good offers on most big games pre-match, and if you are interested in this, we would you recommend you take a look at your chosen event as these offers will vary quite a bit. But if we decide to use Premier League games as an example, we will see all the available betting markets by clicking in on the actual event.

Sports

Betfred offers punters a very wide range of sports to bet on. In the left-side margin, you can find Betfred’s main sports markets, which include Football, Horseracing, Greyhounds, Tennis, Rugby and Golf.

Sports

The left-margin also includes a tab called “All Sports”. If you click this tab, you will be redirected to a window showing you all the sports currently on offer at Betfred. This list is very comprehensive and showcases the myriad of events one has to choose from at this bookmaker. Here we find everything from traditional sports such as baseball, basketball and cycling, to lesser known athletic endeavours such as hurling, Gaelic football and Australian rules.

Big events such as Premier League games are of interested to the vast majority of punters, and it is therefore very good to see that Betfred offers a wide variety of sub-markets for these games. If you click in on any given Premier League match, you will see the following tabs:

Betfred Sportsbook

Here, you have the opportunity to sort for the markets you yourself are particularly interested in. “Popular” shows the most popular markets, such as correct score, total amount of goals per team, and Draw no Bet. The “goals” tab let you sort after Over/Under amount of goals, whether this be total amount of goals during the game, or Over/Under total amount of goals per team.

“Goalscorer” shows you a table of potential goalscorers for your chosen match, complete with odds for each player. If you for example choose to bet on Wolverhampton v Leicester, you will be given the following window for goalscorers:

GoalscorerGoalscorer

The “cards” tab brings up all markets related to cards. Here, you can bet on which player or players you think will be carded, and you are of course provided with a similar window to that of the goalscorer tab.

Finally, we have the tab market “#PickYourPunt”. This tab is especially interesting and unique as it gives punters the opportunity to really customise their ticket and select several bets for one match.

Esports

eSports

In addition to providing us with a very wide and varied selection of sports and sporting events, Betfred also gives us E-sports. This tab is conveniently located at the very bottom of the left-margin at Betfred’s homepage. As soon as you click the tab market e-sports, you will get up a new window where you can choose either Today’s Matches, or All E-sport.

Today’s Matches will bring up all currently ongoing e-sport events, whereas All E-sport will bring up the following window:

Betfred eSports

From here, we can see that Betfred gives us the chance to bet on Overwatch, Starcraft, Counter Strike (better known to many as simply CS), League of Legends, Dota 2 and Call of Duty. This list of games is nice and varied, we find everything from action-packed war games too strategy-based games almost resembling high-tempo chess matches.

We get a pretty alright selection of markets when clicking in on any given event, and a good example would be Counter Strike. For example, Movistar Riders are playing Nemiga Gaming and the odds would look like this:

Bets

If we click in on the actual event, we get up another window detailing all the sub-markets. These are not quite as varied as they would be with standard sporting events, but we still get a decent amount to choose from:

Events

Other specials

As already mentioned, the tab labelled “All Sports” will bring up a complete and comprehensive table of all sports on offer at Betfred, but that’s not all. “All Sports” will also show you the special offers available on Betfred and these include Politics, Virtual Sports, Specials and Lottery Specials. Many of these are self explanatory, but Specials might need some further explanation.

If you click in on this tab, you will be shown the following:

Specials

As you can see, Betfred gives us the option to place bets on TV Shows, Awards, Royalty and even the next James Bond. At the time of writing, Next James Bond and Awards are currently empty, but TV Shows contain Love Island and Dancing on Ice, whilst clicking on the Royalty tab brings up the following window:

No, you did not misunderstand, Betfred actually gives us punters the opportunity to place a bet on who we think most likely to become the next reigning monarch. Prince Charles might be the obvious choice, but could a small bet on Prince George really hurt? The odds of 33/1 surely is tempting…

Cashout

Betfred’s Cashout feature is offered on Golf, Football and Horseracing and it gives the punter the opportunity to cash out early on an event. This can be useful if you have placed money on for example a football match and whilst you are currently winning, there is 20 minutes remaining and your team is under very heavy pressure. In these situations, Betfred might allow you to cash out early, for a slightly lower odds. This will give you a lower return, but at the same time, you will at least win some money rather than lose your bet.

Another scenario in which Betfred will offer you the option to cash out is if you have put together a ticket consisting of four football games, three of which takes place on Friday, with the last taking place on Saturday. If your first three games go through, everything is hinging on that final game, a game you, unfortunately, have to wait a whole day for. If you’d rather not wait, Betfred will give you the chance to take a certain amount of money and settle your bet before the final game even starts. The drawback of this is that you will win more should your final game go through, but the positive side is that you cancel the risk of not winning anything at all.

Live Offer
5 / 5

Betfred do not just offer us excellent terms when it comes to pre-match betting, they also give us a very wide range of options when it comes to live betting, but it is important to note that, at Betfred, live betting is referred to as “in play” betting. Currently, Betfred offers us in-play betting on football, tennis, basketball, golf, ice hockey and snooker. Other events might be made available for live betting, but all of the aforementioned sports are staples on Betfred.

If we want to bet on live football, all we need to do is click in on an ongoing event.

Live Offer

As you can gauge from the image, Al-Arabi is hosting Kazma, and the game is currently ongoing with only 21 minutes to play. Currently, the best odds would be on Kazma to win, with every £3 placed earning the punter £10. Should be interested in placing bets on sub-markets instead of Final Result, all we need to do is click in on the event.

Bigger events such as Premier League games will have more sub-markets, but for this particular game we are offered the chance to bet on more traditional markets such as Both Teams to Score, Half Time/Full Time, Draw No Bet and Double Chance.

We can also click in on the tab named “goals”, and this will bring up the following sub-markets:

Sub Markets

Betfred is quite unique when it comes to live streaming, in fact, that they might offer the widest amount of streamable events online. Here, you do not only get big Premier League and Tennis Masters matches streamed live on your phone or on your browser, you can even expect to be able to stream lower league football and low-key tennis matches. Be aware that Betfred requires you to have at least £0.01 on your account in order to stream events. Live animation and statistics will be available for the vast majority of non-streamable events, making sure that you stay up-to-date with whatever you prefer to place bets on.

Security
5 / 5

Security should be paramount for any bookmaker, and this is certainly the case with Betfred. Betfred uses advanced security systems to make sure that your information – whether that be personal or financial – maintains private and unavailable to any third party without your express consent. Betfred is fully licensed in the UK, Canada, India and Australia.

Betfred also takes gambling addiction seriously, something which is showcased by their cooperation with GAMSTOP. Self-exclusion is also available through Betfred should you feel the need to take a break, and you will also be asked if you want to set a limit to your playing upon registration.

Service and Customer Support
5 / 5

Betfred offers excellent support to its customers, and the best part is that you can reach support through live chat, phone and e-mail. The response time is quick – chat is more-or-less instant, the same can be said for phone – and emails are usually answered within 1-2 days. In addition to providing its customers with quick responses, Betfred also offers knowledge and friendly service, something we punters certainly tend to appreciate. Betfred can be reached by phone both inside and outside of the UK, which is a plus should you be inclined to put some money on sports when on a holiday. Betfred customer support is available 24/7.

However, simply having these options doesn’t necessarily mean they are providing a good experience. To test this, we contacted them via all these methods to see how they stacked up, beginning with live chat.

Support

We asked about the terms and conditions for the welcome bonus and got a response in under two minutes linking us to the appropriate page and asking if we needed anything else cleared up before the end of the chat. It was fast, friendly and to the point. We can’t ask for much more than that.

Customer Care

As you can see we didn’t have to wait two days, in fact we didn’t have to wait half an hour, as we received an e-mail response within 20 minutes providing us with a list of deposit methods and information on how withdrawal works, for the record you generally do need to withdraw via the same method.

We suppose they offered us too much information we didn’t ask for, but that’s not much of a criticism. This is a great option if you want a response you can refer to at any point.

Finally, there was the phoneline. There are numbers both for calls inside and outside the UK which is a very nice touch. We asked them about the terms and conditions for the welcome bonus, and we received what we considered to be a very helpful response and they also offered to e-mail us details if we wanted. The phone was answered pretty quickly with barely any hold time. That makes Betfred three for three in quality contact options.

Design and Usability
4 / 5

The Betfred design can only be described as classic, and the blue and red tones will be familiar to the vast majority of punters. The website is very easy to navigate, thanks in a large part to the nice overview of sports found in the left-side margin.

Seeing as Betfred is a bookmaker that more-or-less exclusively focuses on the UK market, the website is only available in English, and the same goes for customer support. Betfred does not offer news – be that sports or otherwise – on their website as they are a straightforward and classic bookmaker.

Mobile
4 / 5

Betfred does offer a dedicated app for both IOS and Android, and the app can be downloaded in your chosen browser. The app contains pretty much the same as Betfred’s website and tends to work without any particular hiccups. Welcome offer and other offers are available on mobile, as well as in the browser.

All-in-all, Betfred offers its customers a very good chance to have some fun when on the go. There is very little trouble with the app and everything from spinning the wheels on slots and placing wagers on Blackkjack, to filling out coupons in their sportsbook, work just as well on your phone as it does on your laptop.

Other Products

Betfred tends to put the majority of their focus on the sportsbook, meaning that casino bonuses and other offers are pretty scarce. They do, however, offer us the chance to play a wide range of slots and casino games such as poker and blackjack. Betfred also comes with an already mentioned Virtual Sports offer.

Summary

Betfred is a bookmaker with a wide offer of games and entertainment, but we cannot escape the fact that they first and foremost cater to those who love sports. Betfred is one of the most dominating bookmakers of the British sports betting market, in a large part thanks to the way they treat their customers. You are being offered nice welcome bonuses and terms on which to play, yet at the same time, a membership with Betfred means that you will not be hounded by emails and text messages imploring you to deposit now for the latest bonus. Betfred exists for those who appreciate the purity and pure enjoyment of sports betting, and if you are one of these punters, then you can not afford to miss out on the fantastic experience that Betfred offers.
