Let’s cut to the chase. Our Betfred review found them to live up to their reputation as one of the greatest UK bookmakers. This is thanks to a sublime selection of ultra-competitive odds, amazing live coverage, superb customer service, plus world class casino, poker and bingo options, and loads of promotional goodies. All of which being as satisfying on the small screen thanks to their superb apps. There are a couple of blind spots, particularly the lack of e-sports, but they have everything most punters could ever want out of a betting site.

What We Don’t Like About Betfred
-
Could use more exclusive features for mobile users
-
Limited international horse racing coverage
- Licensed by both the UK Gambling Commission and the Gibraltar Gambling Commission
- Online reviews suggest they are overwhelmingly trusted by their users
- Responsible gambling tools include deposit limits, self-exclusion, time outs and reality checks
- Fined in 2022 for failings related to gambling safety checks
Let’s start with the basics. There’s no need to worry about Betfred’s legitimacy, as they’re fully licensed by both the UK Gambling Commission and the Gibraltar Gambling Commission. That means everything they offer is above board, and you’re legally protected should any problems arise.
Not that problems are common. Not only is Betfred legit but they’ve built up an exceptional reputation over the years, with strong customer ratings on Trustpilot, Google Play and the App Store. There was a fine in 2022 related to gambling safety checks, but they’ve since stepped things up and now go above and beyond when it comes to customer protection.
Your personal and financial details are also safe, thanks to SSL encryption that keeps your data secure from online threats. All of this is clearly laid out in their transparent and easy-to-understand privacy policy.
And when it comes to responsible gambling, whatever issues there may have been in the past, it’s clear Betfred take their duties very seriously. They offer a full range of tools to help you stay in control including deposit limits, time outs and reality checks. You will also find links to external support like GAMSTOP, which allows you to self-exclude from all licensed betting sites across the UK if needed.
- Open an account in just a few minutes
- Verification is super simple
- Extra security options available for added peace of mind
- With so many users, finding an available username can be a bit of a faff
No proper Betfred review in the UK could fail to notice how easy it is to sign up. But just to make sure there is no confusion whatsoever, we’re going to walk you through every step of the process, so you can see for yourself just how straightforward getting registered with Betfred really is.
KYC Account Verification
We didn’t have to verify our account at all, it was sorted automatically, and that’s what most people can expect. That said, a few might be asked to confirm their identity with some documents.
The good news? It’s easy as pie. Just pop into your account, click Submit My Documents, and upload either a passport or driving licence to prove who you are, plus a recent utility bill or bank statement to confirm your address.
They might also ask for a quick selfie with your ID, just to be sure it’s really you. Most of the time, it’s all done and dusted in minutes. Though, in rare cases, it might take up to 48 hours.
All UK bookmakers must run these checks, but Betfred make it as simple and fuss-free as possible.

Betfred Sign-Up Offer
- £50 worth of free bets up for grabs
- Just a £10 bet at evens needed to qualify
- No wagering requirements on winnings
- The £50 is split into five separate free bets, like it or not
Betfred sportsbook gets you going with a monster of a welcome offer. New customers can claim £50 in free bets when they register, deposit with a debit card and place a £10 bet at evens or above within seven days of signing up.
Here’s how it breaks down:
-
3 x £10 sports free bets
-
2 x £10 acca free bets (for accumulators with four or more selections)
You’ll have seven days to use them, and there are no wagering requirements. Winnings are yours to keep, minus the free bet stake. It’s both a highlight of this Betfred review and easily one of the best welcome offers around. A cracking way to explore one of the UK’s most popular bookies.
Embrace the free bet split for maximum fun
Ben Gibson – If you're looking at the way the free bets are split into five separate bets (including two accas) and feeling a bit disappointed, I recommend flipping that mindset. They have one of the most diverse selections of betting markets in the UK, so take this as a golden opportunity to try something new. Spread your bets around, bring a bit of extra excitement to multiple events, try different markets and remember that enjoying the ride is every bit as important as chasing a win.
Betfred Other Promotions
- Huge array of long-term promotions
- Other bonuses are also sent to you directly
- Exceptional terms and conditions throughout
- Some sports are better served by the promo page than others
The fun doesn’t stop once your welcome bonus runs out. Betfred’s promo page is packed with betting treats. As just a few examples, you’ve got “Double Delight and Hat-Trick Heaven” for bigger wins on First and Next Goalscorer markets, a free weekly quiz where six right answers could land you a share of five grand, extra places on horse races, acca and bet boosts, plus free bet clubs that reward you just for getting your bets in each week.
And that’s just scratching the surface. These are only the long-term offers available to everyone. On top of that, you’ll get exclusive promos sent straight to your phone or email, plus special offers tied to big events. All in all, it’s a brilliantly varied and satisfying selection that keeps things fresh week in, week out.
Let’s take a closer look at a few of our favourites to give you a feel for the kind of quality Betfred sportsbook has to offer.
In a nutshell, this offer gives you extra winnings if your pick in the First Goalscorer or Next Goalscorer market bags more than one. Score twice and your payout is doubled. Bag a hat-trick and you’ll get treble the winnings, all without staking a penny more.
It’s a brilliant promo that rewards you for betting as you normally would. And honestly, it’s a bit of a rare gem. We’re not aware of anything else quite like it in terms of simplicity or sheer generosity. In fact, the closest comparison is Betfred’s own “Super League Double Delight” offer, which works the same way but focuses on rugby tryscorers rather than goalscorers.
This promo comes in two parts. First up, there’s a percentage bonus on your acca winnings that grows with the number of selections. It starts at 2.5% for five legs and goes all the way up to 100% for twenty. It’s a classic offer and while many other bookies have something similar, it’s still a welcome sight.
Then there’s the insurance element. If your acca falls short by just one leg, Betfred will refund your stake. But here’s what makes it stand out. Betfred gives you the refund in cash, up to £10, while most others return it as a free bet. That gives this offer a clear edge on almost every comparable alternative.
This one does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a free quiz where you answer six questions about upcoming Premier League matches. Get them all right and you’ll share five grand with anyone else who does the same. Even if you don’t hit six out of six, you’ll still pick up a prize. Three or fewer gets you five free spins, four earns a pound in free bets, and five nets you £3 in free bets.
Alright, it’s not a cut of the five grand, but it’s still a decent little bonus from something that costs you nothing to enter. A real standout in this Betfred sportsbook review and one of the better offers of its kind.
Betfred’s Extra Place Races promo gives you more chances of landing a winning bet on each-way or place markets. For instance, if you’d usually win with a top-three finish, this offer might pay out for a top-five instead.
If you’re betting on this market anyway, it’s a clear and simple advantage. Other bookies like Ladbrokes and bet365 run similar deals, but that just proves Betfred holds its own as one of the top names in horse racing betting.
Betfred runs a few different free bet clubs, but since they all work the same way, we’ve lumped them all in together. Just place three or more in-play bets on selected markets on sports like cricket, greyhounds or tennis within a 24-hour period (minimum odds evens), and you’ll earn a free bet matching your average stake.
No wagering requirements, and as usual, the stake isn’t included in your returns. The free bet ranges from 50p up to £10, making it a great fit for casual punters. Offers like this do exist elsewhere, but they usually ask for more bets and show up less often. No surprise really – what is Betfred if not a bookie that goes the extra mile?
Betfred VIP and Loyalty Program
When we say that Betfred sportsbook provides rewards for loyal customers, we mean it. Horse racing fans will receive 1 Rewards4Racing point for every £1 they stake on sports markets. Then, you can use these points to buy tickets to over 1000 meetings from all over the UK including Cheltenham, the Scottish Grand National or the Betfred Derby.
The exact number of points needed does vary and you’ll be looking at over 1000 for most rewards, so it’s something that builds up over time. That said, for plenty of punters, this will be a great little extra that could deliver a fantastic day out with no added cost.
We really like this offer because it connects your online bets with real-world rewards. It’s open to everyone and the prizes, while clearly aimed at consistent bettors, are still more accessible than many VIP alternatives, which can take tens of thousands of pounds in spend to even sniff at.
The only downside is that it’s only really appealing to horse racing fans, but if that’s you, you’re golden.
Check the terms and conditions for the most up to date information
The above is a snapshot of what we consider to be the key Betfred bonuses currently available. That said, offers can – and do – change. That’s why it’s always best to give the terms and conditions a quick look yourself, so you’ve got the most accurate and up to date information before diving in.

Betfred’s payment options pretty much tick all the boxes for UK punters, covering all the usual suspects you’d expect. From the most popular debit cards and e-wallets to instant bank transfers, they’ve got the lot. With super-speedy deposits starting from just a fiver, no minimum withdrawal to trip you up, and not a single fee in sight, it’s a setup as easy as finding a queue in a post office.
There are a couple of limitations. If you want something offbeat like crypto payments, this simply isn’t the site for you. The deposit limits (£250–£40,000) and withdrawal caps (£10,000–£20,000) might leave those with reinforced wallets wanting more, but for the rest of us, it’ll be plenty.
The process itself is a proper breeze – depositing, placing a bet, withdrawing, all of it can be done in a flash if you’re quick about it. Even if you’re brand new to online betting, it’s simple enough to get your head around. Betfred’s deposit methods and withdrawal options might not include absolutely everything, but for most of us, they’re spot on.
A couple of key terms to consider
Betfred’s payment methods are generally all reet straightforward, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First off, if you’re withdrawing less than a fiver, you’ll need to give customer service a heads-up. Also, you’ll usually need to use the same method for withdrawal as you did for depositing, which is all pretty standard, but worth bearing in mind.
How to Deposit Funds to Betfred – My Experience
Let’s cut to the chase. You’re ready to fund your Betfred account and start betting – it’s a doddle. Just follow these simple steps, and you’ll be sorted in no time.
How to Withdraw Funds from Betfred – My Experience
Did you win? Fingers crossed! Now, you’ll need to know how to get that cash back into your bank account because, otherwise, it’s like winning Monopoly money. No worries, though; it’s dead easy. Just follow these steps:
- 22 sports to choose from
- With #PickYourPunt, options are basically unlimited
- Consistently competitive odds with low overround
- Maximum payout ranges between £10,000 and £1,000,000
- No esports markets
Whether you’re into Betfred cricket, rugby, darts, snooker, football, tennis or horse racing markets, this iconic bookie has got you covered. We’ve checked out every nook and cranny of Betfred’s sports selection and found it to be as comprehensive as the top dogs in the industry, with competitive odds across dozens of sports and thousands of markets.
There’s even a dedicated virtual sports page where you’ll find round the clock action on virtual horse racing, football, greyhounds and speedway. Only the lack of esports let them down, but if that isn’t of interest, you should find what you need here. Plus, their overround consistently tests below 110% on all sports, which means they're not just brilliant, but consistently so.
It’s crystal clear to this Betfred sportsbook review that football is their top priority. No other sport comes close in terms of market depth. We’re talking 150 plus odds on most games, both pre-match and live. This includes a huge selection of goals, player, cards, shots, corners and half markets. The upper payout limit is huge too, capped at a cool £1 million. In short, whatever match or odds you’re after, if you can get them anywhere, you can probably get them here. And you can likely bet as much as you like, should your pockets be deeper than the Saudi Pro League.
Better still, they go above and beyond with consistent specials markets. Whatever event you click on, you’re likely to find enhanced odds across loads of great options, including bet builder offers. Their live coverage is top tier too. While they might not be able to stream the Premier League, they make up for it with lightning-fast odds updates, real-time stats, and slick graphics. Throw in exclusive predictions and detailed pre-game info, and you’ve got everything you need to make smarter bets in seconds. A true tour de force of football betting.
If football is Betfred’s main squeeze, then horse racing is a close and much-loved runner-up. The focus is firmly on UK and Irish races, but they absolutely nail it. From Cheltenham to Cork, coverage is comprehensive with dozens of markets per race, including an easy-to-use Forecast bet option and buttery smooth livestreaming.
Plus, you can’t argue with the terms. Does Betfred pay first past the post? You’d better believe it. Your odds are backed with best odds guaranteed too. Add in tips, course info, promotions that boost Lucky 15, 31 and 63 bets, plus strong each-way terms and competitive odds, and Betfred gives you every chance to win and win big.
Your Betfred bookies is no slouch when it comes to tennis either. Sure, the upper limit is £100,000 rather than a million, but that’s up there with the very best bookmakers in the UK. Plus, you’ll find around 30 to 50 markets per game, which is far better than the handful usually offered by most UK bookmakers. Enough to satisfyingly cover games, sets, handicaps markets and more.
Best of all, their livestreaming really shines here. It’s not always available depending on distribution rights, but when it is, the quality stands out with seamless coverage, catching even the fastest volleys and tightest showdowns. All this is topped off with competitive odds that often provide the best returns of any bookmaker. While there may not be many special features, the overall betting experience is as sturdy as a clay court.
Esports has never really been a major part of the Betfred sportsbook, and now it looks like they’ve given up on it entirely. We couldn’t find a single esports market available. It’s an odd omission for such a well-rounded bookmaker and one we hope they reconsider. In a betting landscape where esports are only growing, this stands out as a rare blind spot in an otherwise comprehensive offering. A real shame for this Betfred review, no matter how you look at it.
Betfred Specials and Novelty Betting
One surprise highlight of this Betfred review was their specials selection. We expected it to be good, but a traditional bookmaker like Betfred offering odds on the winner of Britain’s Got Talent, the likelihood of a Spice Girls reunion, the next James Bond, the first song Oasis will play on their official return, and Gary Lineker’s BBC World Cup replacement? That really takes the biscuit.
Obviously, these markets come and go depending on what’s topical, but you can expect at least half a dozen specials at any given time, making for a truly exceptional selection.
- Top odds on thousands of markets
- No drop in odds quality for less popular sports
- Overround below 110% for every market we tested
- No odds available for esports
Betfred’s odds are consistently top notch, offering returns that rival any alternative across dozens of sports and thousands of markets. No bookmaker can claim to have the absolute best odds all the time, but Betfred comes about as close as you could expect. And when they’re not offering the highest returns, the difference is usually barely noticeable.
How do we know? We started by comparing outrights like the next Premier League winner. Betfred offered the best odds on over half of the 20 options and was close enough on the rest that most punters wouldn’t mind. What’s more, their odds often appear earlier than their rivals, especially for darts.
We also checked the overround on dozens of markets and found it never exceeded 110%, which is the mark of exceptional odds. For example, a PSG versus Internazionale Match Result market showed odds equating to an overround of just 105.2%, well below that threshold.
Even on less competitive markets, Betfred shines. The Rugby League First Half Handicap markets between Queensland (plus 1.5) and New South Wales (minus 1.5) had a combined overround of 107%. In short, not only is Betfred legit, but they also deliver superb odds across an enormous range of sports.
All the little extras waiting for you after your Betfred login add up to a proper top-tier betting experience. In this guide, we’re shining a light on the touches that turn a good bookie into a great one, from standout features to thoughtful perks. We’ll look at where Betfred sportsbook really go the extra mile, and whether there are any areas where other bookies might just edge it.
Betfred Live Betting
- Competitive live odds across more than 20 major sports
- Exceptional livestreaming for tennis and horse racing
- Maximum payouts match those available pre-match
- Livestreaming limited by exclusive broadcasting rights
Betfred is one of the best in the world when it comes to live betting. We’ve found in-play markets on every event they cover, except for the logical exclusions like political specials. That means you get outstanding coverage across more than 20 of the most popular sports globally.
So, what do we mean by outstanding? For starters, maximum payouts are confirmed by customer service to match those available pre-match. That means you are looking at a starting point of £10,000, rising to a life-changing £1 million for horse racing and football. The odds are top quality too. As competitive as you’d expect, and they refresh in the blink of an eye, so you’re never out of step with the action.
Then there’s the actual coverage itself. As far as our research could indicate, Betfred livestreaming is available wherever legally permitted, with thousands of events covered. They’re particularly strong on sports like tennis and horse racing. Even when streaming is not an option, their statistical and graphical match trackers are excellent. In fact, we would recommend using them for extra insight regardless of where or how you are following the game.
Put simply, Betfred live betting is top class. A proper gold standard. The very best of the best.
Betfred Cash Out
- Cash out consistently offered across both popular and niche sports
- Amount updates quickly during live events
- Clearly labelled and easy to use
- No auto or partial cash out options
There’s no hard and fast rule on which markets will offer cash out, so the best thing we could do for our Betfred review was to test how often it appears. We placed bets across a variety of markets, from mainstream to more niche sports, and every time we were offered a cash out option. Not only that, but it also updated promptly as the live action unfolded. From the Champions League to the AHL, the feature was consistent throughout.
It's also incredibly easy to use. Once you place your bet, the “Cash Out” option is clearly labelled on your bet slip. If the amount suits you, one simple click and it is done. You can even cash out before the event starts if you have a change of heart.
The only drawback is that there’s no auto or partial cash out. This makes it a little less flexible than the likes of Betway or William Hill. But if those advanced features are not a priority for you, Betfred’s cash out option will more than do the job.
Betfred Bet Builder
- Bet builder is easy to use and newcomer friendly
- Boosted ready-made accas feature prominently on the homepage
- The selection of football markets for bet builder can be excellent
- Bet builder is limited to football and isn’t always available
The user experience is something no Betfred reviews should overlook, and we have to say their bet builder is genuinely a pleasure to use. Simply click on “bet builder” above the odds, pick the markets you fancy, and it handles the rest. It’s quick, smooth, and simple.
That said, it is still quite limited at the time of writing. The feature is only available for football, and even then, options can be hit and miss. Sometimes, there are dozens of markets ready for custom bets, at other times, it’s not available at all. In short, Betfred bookies’ bet builder works brilliantly when it’s there, but we would like to see more coverage and choice.
Ready-made accas do help make up for this shortfall
Ben Gibson – If you’re disappointed by the limited variety in the bet builder, the boosted accas featured on the Betfred sportsbook homepage are a real silver lining. They’re creative, interesting, and often offer excellent value. Do I wish I had these alongside a more flexible option to build my own bets? Absolutely. But as far as pre-packed punts go, these are some of the best going.
Betfred Casino
- Excellent variety with nearly 500 games available
- Includes titles from dozens of top software providers
- Broad selection of promotions including free spins and slot missions
- Search function is clunky, and navigation could be better
We are mainly focused on the sportsbook here at ThePuntersPage, but we still have time for a quick Betfred online casino review for those looking for a jack of all trades. Put simply, Betfred is a superb casino. There are nearly 500 games to choose from, including hundreds of slots, dozens of table games, over 100 jackpots, and more than 40 exclusive live games. All of this comes from a mix of top-tier software developers, from Blueprint Gaming to Playtech.
The quality of the software, paired with the technical reliability already noted in this Betfred review, delivers a first-class experience that runs smooth as silk. With limits ranging from pennies to thousands of pounds, the platform suits just about every type of casino punter.
There are also plenty of exclusive promos to enjoy, including enhanced winnings, free spins, and slot missions. The only downside is the search feature, which could be improved. Navigation is not always as smooth as the gameplay. Still, that’s a small flaw in what is otherwise a truly excellent online casino.
Betfred Poker
- Quick and easy to get started
- Wide variety of poker games and tournaments
- Large player base ensures plenty of action
- Smaller number of players compared to some dedicated poker sites
It’s not what they’re best known for but make no mistake: Betfred Poker is no afterthought. The software here is superb and dead easy to use. Just a couple of clicks and a nickname later, and you’re ready to play. There are tournaments, Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Five Card Draw, among others. And thanks to Betfred’s popularity, you can pretty much guarantee a packed house at any given time, with hundreds, if not thousands, of players to compete against.
The gameplay itself is a delight. No decent Betfred review UK could fail to notice how beautifully everything runs on the site, and that is crucial for this kind of game. Plus, you can play for a couple of quid or hundreds of pounds with prize pools that can reach into the millions. What else can this Betfred poker review conclude except that this is a superb addition to an already stellar bookmaker, one that completes the betting experience for many punters. The only downside is that there are poker sites with an even bigger player base out there.
Betfred Bingo
- 22 bingo rooms
- Several free to play games
- Thriving community with thousands of active players
- Bingo promos are small compared to sportsbook offers
Basically, Betfred Bingo is an absolute beast. Once again, they’re showing off the quality of their software, with 22 bingo rooms ranging from completely free games to a still very reasonable 20p minimum. These rooms make full use of a robust platform with delightfully reliable gameplay.
It’s also a creative and varied setup. You’ll find themed options like Deal or No Deal and Bouncy Balls Bingo, alongside more traditional formats. There are even several bingo promos, including a Bingo Welcome Offer, where you get a £10 bonus when you stake £10. Add jackpots worth up to £85,000, and it’s clear this is a bingo platform with mass appeal, suitable whether you’re a casual punter or aiming for a serious payout.
And, of course, no Betfred bingo review would be complete without mentioning its vibrant community. Bingo is all about shared fun, and with hundreds of players regularly joining in, the social side is a big reason why this offering stands out.
- Multiple support channels including email, live chat, and social media
- Fast and helpful responses from real support agents
- Live chat replies within minutes
- No phone support
For the most part, Betfred’s customer service is excellent. Whether we reached out via email, live chat, or even Twitter (X), we consistently received comprehensive and detailed responses to all our queries. The team helped us navigate verification smoothly and always appeared to go the extra mile, regardless of the contact method.
Support is available around the clock, with live chat responses arriving within minutes and replies via email and social media typically landing within a reasonable 24-hour window.
Our only minor gripe? The chatbot. Like many bookmakers these days, Betfred initially routes you through an automated assistant before allowing access to a real person. While we understand the trend, we would prefer to connect directly with a human, especially since that is usually where we end up anyway. It is a small inconvenience, but it can feel like time wasted.
That said, it is a slight hiccup in what is otherwise a top-tier customer service experience.
| Customer Service | Details | Duration | Availability |

- Full access to all markets and features on mobile
- Seamless performance with no slowdown during live betting
- Highly rated on both iOS and Android app stores
- No exclusive features or bonuses for mobile users
The headline here is that if we were to turn this whole page into a Betfred app review, we would have nothing but the same high praise. And we mean that quite literally. Both the iOS and Android versions are essentially flawless mobile adaptations of one of the world’s most complete bookmakers, which is no small feat. There are no missing markets, no absent promotions, and no slowdown during live betting. Everything works exactly as it should.
Naturally, the layout differs slightly from the desktop version, but it is every bit as enjoyable to use. Navigation is smooth, everything is clearly organised, and it all responds seamlessly. Placing a bet and following the action is just as easy on mobile as it is on your computer.
And you don’t have to take our word for it. The Betfred apps are consistently rated among the best for mobile betting in the UK, with reviews on both app stores comfortably exceeding four stars. We suppose the only real downside is the lack of mobile-exclusive extras. But when the core offering is this strong, do you really need them?
Responsible Gambling Disclaimer
Decided Betfred’s the right fit for you? Brilliant. We hope you have a top time with this brilliant bookmaker. Just remember, nothing’s more important than staying in control and gambling responsibly.

Betfred FAQs
The minimum deposit amount for all payment options at Betfred is £5.
All you need to do to withdraw your funds is head to “My Account”, click “Withdraw”, choose your method, enter the details including how much you’d like to take out, confirm it, and you’re all set.
All withdrawals are subject to security and validation checks. This can take up to 48 hours to process (although typically you’re looking at between 4 to 12 hours). And it may take longer if your account hasn’t been verified, so it’s best to get that sorted early.
Once processed, the time it takes to reach you depends on the payment method. Debit cards and bank transfers usually take between 1 to 5 working days, while e-wallets like Neteller, Skrill and PayPal typically go through within 24 hours.
It all depends on the promotion. Take the sports welcome offer, for example. You’ll need to register, deposit using a debit card, and place a bet at minimum odds of evens. Do that, and you’ll bag 3 x £10 in sports free bets, plus 2 x £10 in acca free bets to use within seven days.
Other free bet promos will explain in the terms how your bets are unlocked and how they can be used. Most of the time, you’ll need to place a qualifying bet to trigger the offer, but it’s always worth giving the T&Cs a proper look before getting stuck in.
To use your free bets, simply click the “place bets using free bet balance” checkbox on your bet slip.
You can reach Betfred’s customer support by clicking the “Help” tab at the top of the page, then heading to “Contact Us.” From there, just choose between Live Chat or the Contact Form, depending on which suits you best.
To delete your account, you will need to contact Betfred's customer support team either by phone, chat support, or email, and they’ll guide you through the process.
Just choose the markets you fancy, and once you’ve picked more than four, a “Multiples” option will appear at the bottom of your bet slip. Simply enter your stake in the right box, hit confirm, and you’re good to go.

Came for the goalscorer promos. They have good coverage of other sports but if football is your cup of tea, you can't go wrong.
