After clicking ‘Continue’, you’ll then have to give your name and date of birth, as well as your contact information (email address and phone number) and address.
The aforementioned information relates to steps two to four, with the fifth and final step a mere formality. As you can see below, this is where you tick your marketing preferences, confirm your preferred currency, and add any promo codes.
Once that’s all done, you’re then ready to begin your Betfred journey! A click of the ‘Register’ icon will set you on your way.

- Easy depositing process
Betfred offers several payment options, including debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro), e-wallets (PayPal, Skrill, NETELLER), cash transfer (bank transfer) and prepaid cards (paysafecard).
In the case of debit cards, the minimum deposit is £5 and the maximum is £20,000. Withdrawals are processed between three and five banking days, with a minimum withdrawal amount of £5 and maximum of £9,999.

|£5.00||£9,999.99||3-5 Working Days||Free|
|£5.00||£9,999.99||3-5 Working Days||Free|
|£5.00||£9,999.99||3-5 Working Days||Free|
|£5.00||£5,000.00||Up to 48 hours||Free|
|£5.00||£4,000.00||Up to 48 hours||0% - 2%|
|£5.00||£6,500.00||Up to 48 hours||Free|
|£25.00 or currency equivalent||£25,000/Day||Up to 48 hours||1 free standard withdrawal/28 days|
The minimum deposits with e-wallets vary. It’s £5 with Skrill but £5.50 with PayPal and NETELLER. The latter pair both have a maximum deposit of £15,000. Withdrawals are likely to be processed within 48 hours with these payment methods, with the minimum withdrawal set at £5. For those withdrawing with NETELLER, you will be subject to a 2% fee if you didn’t use this payment method to deposit funds.
With bank transfers, the minimum deposit lies at £85 with charges in place for deposits over £170. Funds may take 48 hours to arrive in your Betfred account. Withdrawals, meanwhile, take between 3 to 5 working days, with the minimum withdrawal amount set at £25 and maximum at £25,000 (daily). It’s important to note that Betfred will pay for one free standard bank transfer withdrawal every 28 days. For any additional withdrawals, Betfred will deduct £12 for a standard bank transfer and £15 for an urgent bank transfer.
Finally, for those depositing via paysafecard, the minimum and maximum deposits are set at £5 and £250 respectively. Note that you can’t withdraw using this method.
Fortunately, the depositing process is simple. After your registration, you will be asked to choose your preferred deposit method, which is self-explanatory. We chose debit cards, as you can see below.
After adding our card details, we could then add a deposit amount by using the CVC number and our password. This is also what you will find when you select deposit from the homepage.
Once we added the funds, we received this confirmation page showing us that our account balance had now been topped up. From here, we were free to bet on whatever we wished.
We decided to go against the bookmakers this time by putting £10 on United to beat City, as we thought they’d gotten particularly generous odds on this occasion. Luckily for us, our bet came out a winner, meaning that when we checked our bet slip, we found the following:
Our £10 bet had won us £40, meaning that £50 was now available to withdraw – and we also had £30 worth of free bets.
If you want to withdraw funds at any point, then simply go onto your account (you’ll also find your most up-to-date balance, right next to the deposit button), and head into withdrawals. Once here, you can choose how much you want to withdraw. This shouldn’t require any additional details, as you withdraw via the same method as your deposit.
We then received the above message, and indeed, our funds were available in our account within a week.
And that’s all there is to it! As you can see, the whole process can be completed in a matter of minutes, and should be familiar to pretty much everyone who has used anything other than cash to pay for anything. Our experience was completely flawless, and we have to hand it to Betfred for crafting such a seamless process.
- Very competitive welcome offer
- Lucrative betting terms
- Custom welcome offers during big events
New Betfred customers can take advantage of a welcome offer that gifts £60 in free bets on Blue Wizard at at £0.10 per spin following their first bet.
To qualify, bet £10+ on any sports market at odds greater than evens (1/1). The bet must be made within seven days of registration, while the free bets you receive also expire after a week. Use them fast!
The welcome offer is only available to UK-based customers, or customers based in Northern Ireland, while deposits made via prepaid Visa and Mastercard will not qualify for this welcome offer – neither will deposits made with e-wallets.
At the time of writing this Betfred review, there was also a welcome offer specific to football. If you enter the code ‘SPORTS60’ when registering, you’ll be entitled to £60 in free bets once you bet £10 on any football market at odds evens or greater. You’ll then earn another £10 free bet if your qualifying bet doesn’t win.
The same conditions apply regarding payment methods and expiry dates. Betfred are constantly providing exciting welcome offers, so if the football one is no longer available, be sure to check for any new ones.
- Various sports boast promotions
- Daily price boosts
- No VIP program
Customers can enjoy a variety of exciting promotions that cover several sports. Betfred’s football promotions include pre-match and in-play Double Delight, and Hat-Trick Hero. This offer is available on selected games where odds on your first goalscorer (next goalscorer for in-play) bet are doubled/tripled should the player score a brace or hat-trick.
The bookie’s horse racing promotions include Best Odds Guaranteed (also available with greyhounds), extra places and free bets, should your horse finish second (in selected races).
Betfred also offers top price guaranteed on first try scorer for selected Super League matches.
Daily price boosts are also available across various sports.
Unfortunately, the bookie doesn’t offer a VIP or Loyalty program of any kind at the time of writing this Betfred review.
- 22 sports make up the sportsbook
- Fair odds
- Poor esports/specials coverage
Betfred’s sportsbook isn’t particularly extensive. 22 sports are covered by the bookie, ranging from hurling to football. There’s a clear emphasis placed on the more popular sports and events, with The Hundred and the Tokyo Olympics prominent at the time of writing.
Their football coverage is sufficient but far from outstanding. While a multitude of matches across the globe are offered hourly, the markets available are fairly basic.
Nevertheless, the bookie’s odds are the most crucial element here, and to measure the quality of Betfred’s margins, we used the odds overround.
The overround is a calculation that combines the total percentage probability of all selections in a match coming true. Naturally, the result of this should come to 100% – however, this does not factor in the profits made by the bookmaker. For this reason, it is widely accepted that any figure below 110% is considered to indicate fair odds.
We picked three games at random from the Champions League (qualifier), MLS and a pre-season friendly that returned margins of 111.19%, 108.57% and 109.35% and respectively. Thus, Betfred’s odds are good, but certainly not the best around.
Punters can choose to have their odds displayed as fractions, decimals or American.
While some bookies have made a concerted effort to make extensive esports a key selling point, Betfred’s coverage leaves plenty to be desired.
Punters must dig a fair bit to access the bookie’s esports markets and, on the day of writing, only League of Legends events were available to bet on, despite Counter-Strike and Dota 2 tournaments being covered by competitors on the same day.
Be sure to check out our esports betting tips that can improve your chances of winning at esports betting.
Similarly, Betfred’s specials offering is sub-par, at best. At the time of writing, Love Island (top male) and Sports Personality of the Year were the only TV Specials available.
Their political coverage is a little broader. Here, punters can bet on various UK and US political events, with #PickYourPunt bets also accessible. For example, you can back Nigel Farage to be an MP before the end of the year at 16/1.
Cash Out & Bet Builder
You can take full control of your bets with Betfred’s Cash Out and Partial Cash Out features. Secure your winnings on single and multiple bets before your bet has settled by heading to the ‘Cash Out’ tab on the right-hand side of the page.
Betfred’s Bet Builder arrives in the form of #PickYourPunt, which is a feature that combines bet building with bet customisation. It’s only available on selected matches, across various sports, and can be found under the #PickYourPunt tab. This is where all created bets will manifest.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, tweet Betfred with the hashtag #PickYourPunt to get your bet priced.
Punters can pick from a myriad of markets to create their optimal bet (maximum five selections).
- Easily accessible
- Neat in-play features
- Live streaming service
Betfred’s live coverage is easily accessible via the ‘In-Play’ link on the left-hand side of the website. Here, there are a multitude of events to bet on every hour.
In the example above, a Champions League qualifier between Malmo and Rangers, we can see what Betfred’s live football coverage looks like. Markets are sufficient, not extensive, although there are several neat features to enhance your experience. Statistics, line-ups and live commentary are provided by the bookie.
Selected events are also available to view via Betfred’s live streaming service. At the time of writing, tennis, table tennis and football matches were viewable.
- Licensed and regulated by GB and Gibraltar Gambling Commissions
- Account limits
Betfred are operated by Petfre, who, in turn, are licensed and regulated by the Great British Gambling Commission and Gibraltar Gambling Commission.
Betfred’s responsible gambling section can be found under the ‘Useful Links’ tab. Here, the bookie explains how they attempt to protect minors from the risks of gambling, while a five-page ‘Safer Gambling Charter’ is also provided. In addition, punters can access external links for further support and advice, along with a self-assessment test. The latter helps punters gauge their gambling behaviour and lets them know whether they’re betting sensibly or beyond their means.
Nevertheless, the bookie has several account limits in play to mitigate against irresponsible gambling. Punters can set Deposit Limits and Reality Checks, and enforce Time-Outs and Self-Exclusions.
Service & Customer Support
- Rigorous FAQ section
- 24/7 Support
- Efficient customer service
Betfred’s ‘Help’ section is where you’ll find their FAQ section, which is pretty robust. A range of queries, from the basics of betting to deposits and withdrawals, are covered.
However, should further assistance be in order, you can contact Betfred via email, telephone and the bookie’s Live Chat function. Support is available 24/7.
We decided to put their live chat service to the test. First, we had to click the live chat link, then fill out a submission form. Here, you had to confirm your name and email address and write the basis of your enquiry.
Once that’s complete, you’ll be connected to an agent – provided you don’t have to queue. Helpfully, links pop up with resolutions to possible queries while you wait. Nevertheless, we started chatting with our agent after a couple of minutes.
We asked whether Betfred offers a VIP/Loyalty Program of any sort.
The reply to their response was succinct. They confirmed the absence of a loyalty program, and that was that. Our live chat experience was over. We’re looking for politeness and efficiency here, and Betfred ticked both boxes.
Design & Usability
- Simple design and structure
- Technically efficient website
- Superb blog feature
Betfred’s website follows a predominantly blue-and-white colour scheme in what’s a simple design to aid customers. The interface is easy to navigate.
Featured and in-play events consume the centre of the homepage, and they’re located below a horizontal slider that manifests the bookie’s current promotions. These advertisements are bold without appearing gimmicky or overbearing. At the very top of the site, tabs for all of Betfred’s products can be seen. Down the left-hand side, you’ll find the site’s popular links, including in-play markets, football events, #PickYourPunt, etc. ‘Useful’ and ‘Quick Links’ can be found underneath those, which allow you to access information regarding responsible gambling, terms and conditions, as well as contact links.
Overall, the site is technically proficient, facilitating a user-friendly experience, while the ubiquitous presence of your bet slip on the right-hand side of the page ensures the betting process is an easy and efficient one.
A wonderful feature is Betfred’s Blog. It’s hidden away under ‘Useful Links’ but, once discovered, punters can access various pieces of finely written work that cover a myriad of sports. Posts are published frequently.
- Can be downloaded via Google Play and the App Store
- Coherent structure
- User-friendly experience
Both Apple and Android users can enjoy Betfred’s mobile app, which is available to download via both Google Play and the App Store. The app itself is very well brought together, facilitating a user-friendly experience for customers who want to bet on the move.
The app’s content isn’t too dissimilar from Betfred’s website, with welcome offers and other bonuses available on mobile.
The coherent structure of the app allows punters to access all sports and markets in an instant. You can also access Betfred’s live streams, as well as any other products – which will get into shortly – the bookie has to offer. We also have to commend what was a fine technical performance all around.
For more information, check out our extensive analysis of Betfred’s mobile app.
In addition to its sportsbook, Betfred offers a whole host of other products to its players. These include casino, live casino, lotto, bingo and poker.
Other places to play: Best online casino sites
Promotions are in play with several casino games, with the bookie’s selection ranging from roulette to slots. Punters can earn 100 free spins on a selected game following their first £10 stake as part of Betfred’s casino welcome offer.
The bookie’s bingo and poker games are also heavily incentivised to attract punters.
There’s also an array of virtual sports available to customers. 11 different virtual events are offered, including virtual cricket, golf and tennis. More common virtuals such as football, horse racing and speedway are also covered. In addition, Betfred’s virtual sports promotion gifts punters £5 in cash following their first £10 stake.
ThePuntersPage Final Say
It’s understandable as to why Betfred have emerged as such a popular bookmaker over the years. With exciting and varied promotions, generous welcome offers and a broad enough sportsbook, Betfred find it easy to entice and retain the interests of punters. The bookie also places a distinct emphasis on responsible gambling, with the basic processes – including registration and depositing funds – as simple as they need to be. Sure, the bookie isn’t perfect and there are some faults (a few might be turned off by their fair but not exactly brilliant odds, for example), but this is certainly a bookmaker worthy of a recommendation. The way their customers are treated, via offers, bonuses and stellar customer service, is exemplary.
The minimum deposit amount is £5 when using debit cards.
Withdrawals can be made via debit card, PayPal, NETELLER, Skrill, and bank transfer.
Depending on the payment method used, withdrawals are usually completed within 48 hours; others may take up to 3-5 working days.
Betfred has its own Free Bet Club for greyhounds and virtual sports. They also post frequent free bet promotions, so be sure to keep an eye out for those.
To use your free bets, simply tick the relevant box at your bottom of your betslip after adding your selections.
Betfred customer support is available via email, telephone, and the bookie’s live chat function. Support is available 24/7.
To delete your account, you will need to contact Betfred’s customer support team either by phone, chat support, or email, and they will guide you through the process accordingly.
After adding four or more bets to your betslip, the first option under the ‘Multiples’ section is the accumulator option. Simply place your stake there and place the bet.
