Leeds United host Newcastle United on Monday evening and I’ve got a great 3/1 bet builder to kickstart the week. The two sides are both on five points after three matches, and I am expecting a tight game in what is usually a keenly fought contest.

Under 3.5 Goals
The Kickform stats show that 100% of Leeds’ home matches and Newcastle away fixtures have seen less than three goals. I was tempted to go for under 2.5, but the Magpies have scored twice in each of their Premier League fixtures so far, conceding four times and have faced more shots than any other side in the division. Leeds have scored once in each of their Premier League games and have conceded two.
They managed to score twice against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. Goals have been at a premium in games involving the Elland Road outfit, and I consider their 6-3 defeat to Chelsea in the League Cup to be the exception rather than the rule. Newcastle’s two away games (one in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup) have seen them keep their only two clean sheets of the season. They have scored an average of two per game in their five competitive matches in all competitions.
With this in mind I am not expecting many goals, but I would not rule out a 2-1 win for either side, so I am going for under 3.5 goals.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin 1+ Shots on Target
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has seven goals and two assists against Newcastle during his career. This season he has scored once in three Premier League matches and has registered six shots, three of which have been on target at an average of 1.07 per 90 minutes. Given that last season the former Everton striker had 34 shots on target from 30 Premier League starts, an average of 1.12 per 90 minutes, I am backing him to get an effort on target on Monday.
Anthony Elanga 1+ Shots on Target
Anthony Elanga has shown a notable improvement at the start of this season after a difficult first season in black and white. Elanga impressed in Newcastle’s first two matches and although things have evened out a little since then, he is still playing with more confidence and more end product than he was last season. Elanga has had four shots in three Premier League matches, hitting the target three times and scoring twice. If Leeds leave any space in behind, he is likely to exploit it, and the Magpies look to have several moves designed to get the Swedish winger into dangerous positions. I think that Elanga will work the goalkeeper on Monday.
Joe Willock 2+ Shots
Another Newcastle player who is producing more of late is Joe Willock. Excellent in 2022/23 when Newcastle finished fourth, Willock has had a number of injury problems since then and his contributions have been fitful. The start of this season has arguably seen his best form for over three years, and he has already scored twice, once in the league and once in the Carabao Cup. Willock has had six shots in two league starts and one substitute appearance, an average of 3.21 per 90 minutes. In the League Cup, Willock had three shots against West Bromwich Albion and five against Millwall, one of which was the winning goal. He will not be afraid to chance his arm at Elland Road and I back the former Arsenal man to shoot at least twice.
