Manchester United host rivals Manchester City on Sunday in what should be a cracker. Michael Carrick’s side have been a mixed bag so far this season, with just one win in three, while his counterpart Enzo Maresca has had a perfect start to life after Guardiola, with three wins in the league. The betting markets are rightly close, so it’s taken a bit of digging to see what direction I’m going to head in here and, more importantly, where the value lies. Let’s jump in.

Bet 1: Manchester City to Win
I’d take City at even money in just about any and all Premier League games this season. They might not have the consistency of their 100-point season back in 2017-18, but they are still one of, if not the best, teams in the league on their day.
They’ve shown enough in their opening three games to suggest that they are Arsenal’s biggest challengers, and while many are tipping the Premier League trophy to head back to North London, writing City off is a bold move and not one I’m prepared to take.
For Man United, well, they’ve flattered to deceive thus far. The noise in the summer was all about how Carrick can build on a brilliant second half to last season, but the reality has been that they’ve struggled to get their transfer targets over the line and looked vulnerable at the back.
Six goals conceded in three games that they should, on paper at least, have cruised, has certainly dampened the mood a little, even if they do look strong going forward.
City to win at 11/10 with the best betting sites is a price I just can’t pass up given how unpredictable Man United look.

Bet 2: Erling Haaland 2+ Shots on Target
It won’t come as much of a surprise to see me include Erling Haaland in my Manchester United vs Manchester City bet builder. It was a matter of when, not if, and the shots on target market looks like good value.
The Norwegian has already hit the target eight times in three games, and scored three in three as well. He added midweek in the Champions League with a double away to Porto, and he’s proving once more how integral he is to this City team.
Before I decide any of my picks, I always try and price up the bet before looking at the odds. If I can get more than the price I think is “fair”, then it’s usually a good sign that it goes in.
Prior to seeing the odds, I thought anywhere around even money for 2+ shots on target would be more than acceptable, so imagine my surprise seeing 23/20 pop up in Betfred. A huge price and an easy pick. Thank you, Mr Done.
Bet 3: Haaland to Win 2+ Fouls
Matchups are key in the fouls market, and there’s a great link here with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez. If Man U are going to stop the Viking, they’ll have to get physical. Even then, it doesn’t always work, but I’d be shocked if Carrick wasn’t spending time this week with the pair to try and rough up Haaland to throw him off his game.
What’s interesting is that he doesn’t draw a huge number of fouls, averaging around 0.67 per 90. However, I think in big derbies like this, the stats don’t always reflect how it might play out. And in fact, Haaland has won 2+ fouls in four of his last six meetings with Man U.
The odds look like decent value at 8/5, although I will add that if you’re backing this as a single, there are better options than Betfred, and I’ve seen up to 10/3 for the same bet elsewhere.
Bet 4: Senne Lammens 4+ Saves
It could be a long day for Senne Lammens in goal. There’s been very little to suggest this season that Man U aren’t going to concede a lot of chances to a City team who look excellent going forward.
I’ve been impressed with the Belgian since he replaced Andre Onana at the start of last season, and he’s been by far the best ‘keeper they’ve had since David de Gea left.
He’s already made nine saves in three matches this season, with four of those coming at the 2-2 draw against Everton last weekend.
There’s an option here to reduce the risk and back him to make 3+ saves, but priced at 3/10, I think that’s too short. Getting 11/10 at 4+ is higher risk, but much more value, and it boosts the bet builder up to a handsome-looking 13/1. Bet number four, locked.
