861. Without context, just a random number. But for women’s boxing, the groundwork in creating a legacy for Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
The pair face off in the third and final part of one of the sport's most epic and gruelling trilogies. A mammoth 861 punches have been landed across two punishing fights, with neither fighter willing to give up the grit, desire, and heart that have led them to the peak of their powers.

It’s more than just another fight. Madison Square Garden will play host to the first all-women's title card streamed live on Netflix in front of an audience base of 300 million. Truly, legacy-defining stuff.
It’s been a colossal battle to get to part three. Taylor has won the first two fights by the barest of margins, which has ensued the usual controversy when fights are as close as they have been.
“This fight is bigger than the last two,” Taylor said at their final press conference on Wednesday, as they posed for press shots at the top of the Empire State Building. And it feels it. Never have we had this much hype surrounding women’s boxing, and such a stacked undercard leading up to the main event.
The Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano odds suggest this will be close. But the reality is that they’re both winners. Trailblazers, if you will. Up there with Ali, Frazer, Sugar Ray Robinson, Tyson, Mayweather Jr., Fury, Lewis and Pacquiao on the men’s side. They’re putting women’s boxing on the map. And it doesn’t get any more iconic than that.

Taylor-Made for Victory: She’s No Swifty, but Katie’s Got All the Hits
The first two fights were eye-wateringly close, winning both by split decision in two of the best boxing matches of all time. Lots has been made about her age, and while 39 is entering the twilight years of a boxing career for most, she’s only giving up three years on Serrano.
Like a bottle of 1986 Châteauneuf du Pape, Taylor’s getting better with age, and she’s landed more “meaningful” punches across the two fights. A key metric often overlooked by casual punters.
But one thing that KT has more than any other fighter we’ve seen is heart. Serrano has outpunched her in both bouts, but it’s never deterred her from her game plan. Get in tight, target the body and make it a scrap. Heck, she’s built a career on that, and as yet, Serrano hasn’t had the answer.
Bookies have her as the outsider entering The Garden on fight night, but you’d be mad to write her off. Odds of 8/5 to put the final nail in the coffin of this amazing spectacle of sport is the first part of our bet builder.
Taylor to Drop the Mic and Serrano – 1+ Knockdown
This is a controversial take. History would suggest it’s unlikely either of them hit the canvas, given there’s been zero knockdowns across the two bouts. But the sheer intensity of the occasion means that, eventually, something must give.
We’ve gone with Taylor to floor Serrano at some point, and if she’s going to win, then it could be crucial come the end of the fight. So, in that sense, if we’re already backing Taylor to win, this looks a sensible inclusion.
But there’s a little more to it than that. Katie has rocked Amanda in both fights. A heavy hook early in the first and a brutal body shot later in the second. She’s been close, but not quite seen it through.
Serrano will work harder than Taylor. She’ll throw and probably land more punches. But Taylor has the power. She has the skillset to flatten Serrano, and with odds of 8/1 for anytime knockdown, it’s too good not to include.
Groundhog Day: Fight to Go the Distance
Call us hopeful romantics, but wouldn’t it be fitting to see these two warriors go the distance again? We’ve already had two epic fights, so to see it go all the way for a third would be icing on the cake.
It’s not unreasonable to expect it to happen, either. They’ve both got incredible skillsets and strong chins, but if they had one weakness, it would be a lack of that explosive power to turn the lights out.
The bookies have this as a short as 2/7 in places, so it’s not going to make us rich anytime soon. But it adds a nice boost to our bet builder and is the perfect way for Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano to sign off this legacy-making trilogy.
