It took just 39 days for Nottingham Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, to make his second sacking of the season as he informed the outgoing Ange Postecoglou that his services were no longer required at the City Ground. Winless in eight (2D, 6L), the final nail in the coffin came following a 0-3 defeat at home to Chelsea on Saturday.

The writing was on the wall for the former Celtic, Tottenham and Yokohama manager, with sections of the home crowd chanting “You're getting sacked in the morning”.

As the Sky Sports camera panned to an empty owner's seat in the Brian Clough Stand after 66 minutes, frustrations within the club's hierarchy were apparent. Marinakis wasted no time in his decision, and a statement was released just 20 minutes after the full-time whistle, announcing that Postecoglou had been relieved of his duties.

As the next Nottingham Forest manager odds go live, the question now is: who’s next?

Sean Dyche – 1/2 with bet365

Sean Dyche heads the next Nottingham Forest manager odds as the favourite to take the hot seat at the City Ground. The club are in a mess and are currently in the relegation zone, so Dyche’s ability to firefight, add some structure and galvanise a talented squad would be key here.

He’s got links with Forest as well, having come through their youth ranks in the ‘80s as a player under Brian Clough, no less. He’ll need to channel the passion that Clough was famous for to get the club out of the muck, but that’s what he’s excelled at in the past.

Is he the champagne manager that Forest fans will want? Probably not. But he’s what they need right now, and talk on the Trent is that he’s ready and waiting to take the role and is a firm odds-on favourite.

Roberto Mancini – 5/2 with bet365

The next cab off the rank is the Italian Roberto Mancini. He left his role as head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team in 2024 and is currently out of work. Priced at 5/2 to take charge, Mancini certainly isn’t a name that’s been linked too heavily with a move back to the Premier League for other roles, but it is understood that Marinakis held talks with the former Manchester City, Inter Milan and Galatasaray man before appointing Postecoglou.

There’s no doubt that Mancini’s CV is elite, winning league titles at City and Inter, as well as Euro 2020 with Italy, but is he what Forest needs right now? The club are still juggling FFP issues after spending heavily over the last couple of transfer windows, and Mancini will want to put his own stamp on the squad, which might not be possible. A strong contender, no doubt, but at 5/2, this feels like a stretch, and it would be a shock appointment if it were to materialise.

Marco Silva – 8/1 with BetVictor

Marco Silva, priced at 8/1, is a really interesting option. The Fulham boss has been impressive during his time at Craven Cottage, moulding a physical team that works hard and are very much an established mid-table Premier League side with minimal investment.

His stock is high right now, and he’s worked with Marinakis previously during his time as manager of Olympiacos. It’s these sorts of ties that can be key in the next Nottingham Forest manager odds, and at 8/1, he’s the value play. The only issue is whether the owner would be willing to pay a hefty compensation package worth up to £8 million to Fulham for his services. If he does, 8/1 is going to look like a massive price at this early stage.
