India face South Africa in the final of the Women’s Cricket World Cup on Sunday, and we’ve trawled the markets to find a cracking bet builder paying 6/1.

Let’s be honest, you’d have got long pre-tournament odds on a final that didn’t include either England or Australia. The pair have been the best WODI teams over the last 12 months by some distance, and their respective defeats in the semi-finals mean that a nation other than Australia or England will win the Women’s World Cup for just the second time (New Zealand the only other in 2000).

South Africa celebrate en route to the Women's Cricket World Cup Final

That said, both India and South Africa are very much there on merit. India’s chase of 338 to beat Australia by five wickets was epic. South Africa more than made amends for their 10-wicket group game defeat to England by steamrolling their top order to cruise to a 125-run victory. We’ve now got an incredibly even final, but the bookies disagree, and we’ll jump more into that with our betting tips.

Bet 1: South Africa to Win

It’s a bit of a head-scratcher to see South Africa priced at 12/5 to win the final. They beat India relatively comfortably in the group stages (a 3-wicket win), helped by a magnificent 84 not out from Nadine de Klerk, which got the Proteas over the line.

Are India the favourite? Probably, yes. Home advantage will help, but odds of 1/3 against a team they’ve split the last 12 meetings with six wins apiece are an oversight in the markets. Granted, home advantage will help, but 12/5 for South Africa to win is a real value bet too big to turn our noses up at.

Bet 2: Laura Wolvaardt (SA) 10+ Runs

Laura Wolvaardt has been in sublime form for South Africa. She’s the tournament’s leading run scorer with 470 runs from eight innings, averaging 67.14 and striking at 97.91. She’s scored 10+ runs in each of her last seven innings and is fresh off the back of a brilliant 169 against England in their semi-final. An easy pick to score 10+ runs again in the final.

Bet 3: Smriti Mandhana (IN) 10+ Runs

Right on Wolvaardt’s coattails in the run scorer table is India’s Smriti Mandhana. The Indian has scored 389 runs at 55.57, with two fifties and a classy hundred against New Zealand. The 10+ runs line has been passed in seven of eight innings in the World Cup, and we’re backing her to repeat that on Sunday.

Bet 4: Deepti Sharma (IN) 1+ Wicket

Deepti Sharma has the joint most wickets so far with 17, and we’re backing her to get at least one more and top the table. Her off-breaks have been bamboozling batters all tournament, and she’s taken at least one wicket in each game so far. Sharma makes up the final part of our Women’s World Cup Final betting tips.
