We have focused on the goal markets for our picks. Let’s look at the four games in detail to see why our experts are going for goals galore or goals at a premium.
Rochdale vs Aldershot Town: Rochdale to Win & Over 2.5 Goals
Fourth-placed Rochdale take on Aldershot who are down in 20th. It looks like a home banker with Rochdale having won six from seven at Spotland and Aldershot having lost six of their nine away games.
The fixture also looks like it will produce goals. Rochdale have rattled in 17 of their seven home matches, conceding four. Aldershot have scored 31 times this season, including 15 on the road. The problem is that they have conceded 39, 21 of those goals coming away from home. The stats from Kickform reveal that 56% of Rochdale’s games and 78% of Aldershot’s fixtures have seen over 2.5 goals scored. So, we are confidently going for a high-scoring home win.
Solihull Moors vs Scunthorpe United: Under 2.5 Goals
Sixth-placed Scunthorpe United travel to Solihull Moors who are 12th. Over half of both teams' matches have featured less than 2.5 goals, 56% for Solihull and 53% for Scunthorpe. The visitors have kept things tight on their travels and are unbeaten with four wins and four draws in their eight away games, conceding only eight goals and scoring 14. Solihull Moors have kept six clean sheets so far this season, the joint seventh highest in the National League. We think that there will be less than three goals in this one.
Woking vs Boston United: Under 2.5 Goals
Woking, in 14th place, host Boston United who are currently 17th. We see goals being at a premium here. Woking have averaged 1.22 goals per game this season, while Boston have scored at a rate of 1.06 goals per game. 61% of Woking’s games and 56% of Boston’s matches have seen less than three goals in total. This rises to 67% for Woking’s home games. The two sides have mustered seven clean sheets between them this season. We are confident that there will be under 2.5 goals on Saturday.
York City vs Morecambe: Over 2.5 Goals & BTTS
The division’s top scorers, York City, sit in fifth place in the table. Their opponents Morecambe are in 23rd place. There is no real value in backing a home win, but we can find value in the goals markets.
While York have banged in 43 goals, they have also conceded 18, the joint highest total in the top seven. Morecambe have scored 24, the equal highest total in the bottom half of the league, but have conceded 44, more than any other National League side. There have been over 2.5 goals in 83% of their games while 71% of York’s matches have seen over 2.5 goals. This goes up to 88% for York’s home games.
Both teams have found the net in 65% of both sides’ matches. We think that there will be more than three goals and we expect goals at either end.
