Bet 1: Crystal Palace vs Manchester United – Palace to Win 11/8
Crystal Palace have quietly turned Selhurst Park into a bit of a fortress this season. They’re unbeaten in six games (3W, 3D) and head into Sunday’s encounter with Manchester United in good form, picking up seven points from a possible nine.
As a result, Oliver Glasner has his team knocking at the door of the Champions League spots, which is an incredible feat given they had the third-lowest transfer spend in the summer.
Ruben Amorim looked to finally be turning his sinking ship around as they went five games unbeaten before a diabolical home defeat to Everton. It felt like one step forward, two steps back as they failed to break down the Toffees, who played for over 75 minutes with 10 men, thanks to Gueye’s red card after an altercation with teammate Michael Keane.
Palace have had the rub of the green over Man United in recent years, winning three of their last four head-to-heads (3W, 1D) and haven’t lost at Selhurst Park to the Red Devils since 2020. Glasner’s side gets the nod to keep their good form going.
Bet 2: Aston Villa vs Wolves – Aston Villa -1.5 Asian Handicap 7/5
Only Arsenal are in better form than Aston Villa right now, picking up 19 points from their last eight Premier League games. They’ve turned around what was a sluggish start to the season and are quickly growing into a team that is capable of making the top four.
Rob Edwards didn’t get the start he wanted last week at home to Crystal Palace. They’re going to have to go on an incredible run of form to get out of this mess as they sit marooned at the bottom of the league with just two points from 12 games.
A glimmer of light will be that they picked up a win at Villa Park in February, but the team is a million miles from that now. They scored just one goal away from home all season and face a team that is flying right now.
There’s not much value in Villa on the nose at 4/7, but to win by two or more on the Asian handicap priced at 7/5 looks a cracking bet.
Bet 3: West Ham vs Liverpool – Liverpool to Win 4/5
It can’t go on like this, can it? It can.
As Liverpool endures their worst run for 71 years, that question must have been asked thousands of times over the last few months. But the reality is that this run of nine defeats in 12 games will eventually change. There’s too much quality in that squad for it not to.
Any ambitions of retaining their title seem all but quashed, but they’re still only five points off second, even with this shocking run.
West Ham, on the other hand, are showing some signs of life. Consecutive home wins against Newcastle and Burnley led to a hard-fought point away to Bournemouth.
Performances, however, still haven’t been great. They gave up 4.06 xG last week and created only 0.65xg, despite scoring twice. Nuno will be happy with the results, but performances need to improve as well.
The Hammers have a dismal record against Liverpool, winning just once since 2016 (16L, 3D). Is this the week Slot turns it around? We think so, and he’ll not have many better chances against a team they absolutely love playing against.
