Bet 1: Hoffenheim to win away at Stuttgart
From a match result perspective, Hoffenheim are worth considering. They sit one point above Stuttgart in the table and boast a goal difference that is six goals better. Hoffenheim have been enjoyable to watch all season, while the Swabians continue to look vulnerable at times.
VfB’s recent 4-0 win in Bremen was slightly flattering. Bremen missed several early chances, and the game swung decisively after a controversial red card. Stuttgart took full advantage, but the scoreline does not fully reflect the balance of play.
The market still sees Stuttgart as clear favourites, a stance that is hard to justify purely on recent performances. That makes a Hoffenheim win a viable option, especially given that the draw appears underpriced, increasing the appeal of the away win at current odds.
Bet 2: RB Leipzig vs Bayer Leverkusen Over 2.5 Goals
Saturday night brings a true heavyweight clash as two clubs sitting in the top four go head-to-head. These are exactly the kind of games where the market is usually priced well.
Looking at the outrights, there is nothing to consider. Leipzig are priced around 15/13 while the visitors are available at around 12/5.
If forced to lean one way, Leverkusen could tickle our fancy given how common away wins have become in the Bundesliga for Die Werkself. But that is not enough to justify a bet here.
The goals market is more interesting with both teams performing strongly in goal-related metrics. What’s more, the last four meetings between these teams have produced a grand total of 19 goals.
Unsurprisingly, the statistical model leans clearly towards the over 2.5 market at 8/15.
Bet 3: St Pauli or Draw Double Chance Away at Mainz
St Pauli/draw in the double chance market is the way to go.
The point Mainz earned away at Bayern Munich last weekend was extraordinary, even if the hosts clearly created the better chances. Nevertheless, we will not dwell on that match and do not factor it heavily into the analysis.
What matters more is a well-known trend, which sees teams that take points off Bayern often underperform in their next game. This so-called ‘Bayern hangover’ is nothing new.
The market has already reacted, with the price on St Pauli shortening to 13/4 in the outrights. Mainz, on the other hand, are available at almost even money.
The goals market is a complete mess here. The models disagree sharply, with one pointing towards an under and another in the opposite direction. That alone shows how difficult this match is to read. We therefore stay away from goal bets entirely and focus solely on St Pauli in the double chance market.
