It’s England v Uruguay bet builder time, as the Three Lions take on their South American counterparts in a friendly at Wembley this Friday (7:45). We’re chasing goals, swagger, and a comfortable win for the home side as Thomas Tuchel and company prepare for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.
England v Uruguay Friendly Bet Builder Tips – The Lions, the Pitch, and the Goal Load
We found it difficult to go with any player bets in this match. It’s a friendly, managers try out different people, and a few in this squad may not be risked at all due to their burdensome domestic and Champions League minutes.
Our bet builder tips today surround a view that England will see off Uruguay comfortably, and we have full reasoning for that to come. Our 3-fold was priced up by bet365, one of the best betting sites, offering us £65 for a £10 stake.

Why do those three odds not add up to 11/2? We’ve listed the odds for our three legs separately, but the price for England to win drops in a bet builder after we back them to score 2.5 goals. Without adding England to win would leave us at less than 5/1.
Bet 1: England to Win
We’re backing change here. England have won only three of their 11 all-time clashes with Uruguay, with their last win also in a home friendly back in 2006. Still, the Three Lions to win over 90 minutes is one of the best bets for England v Uruguay in our view.
The home side are currently ranked fourth in the world by FIFA and have shown excellent overall form under current head coach Thomas Tuchel. Uruguay are 17th, and are no mugs, but have largely achieved that rating by beating lower-level teams. They lost 5-1 to the USA last November, and while they did draw 1-1 with Brazil, that was way back in late 2024.
England have their big hitters available, with Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Morgan Rogers, and Harry Kane all in the squad. There are plenty more we could have mentioned. For their part, Uruguay can field Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde and former Liverpool man Darwin Nunez, but that may not be enough.
Uruguay aren’t without support going into this match, but the squads overall are not comparable. Five subs each have been agreed, more for injuries, so with greater squad depth at hand and a World Cup to prepare for, it’s hard to see Tuchel not getting a result with the players he has at his disposal.
Bet 2: Total Home Goals – Over 2.5
We’re trying to change history again with this one. There have been 26 goals scored in 11 matches between these two teams, though 12 of those came in their first three meetings. It’s now just 11 in six, stretching back to 1977. More recent form says that change is coming, most notably for the home side.
You could say England put their foot down, as they needed to in World Cup qualifying. They weren’t free scoring initially, but came away with a perfect round of eight wins and zero goals conceded. In the end, it wasn’t all about defensive solidity either.
Scoring 17 goals in their last five internationals is impressive, while in the only two friendlies Tuchel has taken charge of, England lost 3-1 to Senegal and beat Wales 3-0. We think goals will come, mostly for the home side, with Uruguay unlikely to cope with the pace of England’s passing in the final third.
Bet 3: Match Corners – Over 8.5
Thomas Tuchel has taken charge of six home games as England manager. In that time, they’ve averaged 17 shots at goal per match. As well as leading to the three or more goals we want to see, those shots tend to result in plenty of corners, 40 in total being taken by the home side in the six games mentioned.
England could possibly clear the majority of this bet alone, so backing over 8.5 as a match total makes a bit of sense and adds nicely to our bet builder. bet365’s current new player bonus offers £30 for a £10 stake, and we have more free bets available with our various partner bookmakers.
