UCL holders PSG host tournament favourites Bayern Munich on Tuesday in the first leg of what promises to be a titanic semi-final. The outcome is a tough one to predict, but I’ve doubled down on data to produce a great 13/5 treble based on solid stats.

There is not too much to choose between the two sides, both of which are stacked with quality. I fancy Bayern to go through over the two legs, but I am by no means confident in this, and I am even less confident in picking a winner from the first leg. So, with the help of Kickform, I have looked into both teams’ stats from their Champions League and domestic campaigns. I feel both managers will be confident enough to set their teams up to play to their strengths, and I have picked out three value bets.

PSG vs Bayern Munich Predictions: BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals

Both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are set up to attack. With 38 goals apiece, they are the joint highest scorers in this season’s Champions League. While both have quality defensive players, both sides set out to be on the front foot. And this means that they will give the opposition a couple of chances at the other end. The stats from Kickform show that both teams have scored in 64% of PSG’s Champions League matches and 83% of Bayern’s this season. This has led to there being three or more goals in 92% of Bayern’s games and in 71% of PSG’s. Luis Enrique’s side has conceded in all but five of their 14 Champions League matches, while Bayern have only kept two clean sheets from 12 games.

The stats from their respective domestic leagues back this up, too, especially for Bayern. Despite dominating the Bundesliga, both teams have scored in 65% of Bayern’s league games, keeping 11 clean sheets from 31 games, conceding just over a goal per game. They have scored 113 in 31 matches. 97% of Bayern’s games have had over 2.5 goals. PSG, despite a slow start to the season, is six points clear at the top of Ligue 1, having scored 68 in 30 games. 63% of their league games have exceeded 2.5 goals.

Both PSG and Bayern have scored two or more goals in each of their last seven games in all competitions, with Bayern only keeping two clean sheets. PSG’s last game was a 4-0 win away to Nice, while Bayern won 4-3 away to Mainz. The stats point to goals at both ends, and that is a great starting point for my bet builder.

Over 9.5 Corners

In addition to goals at either end, I am backing a high corner count. PSG averages 5.71 corners per game in the Champions League, with Bayern averaging 5.83. In their respective domestic leagues, the figures are at 6.17 for PSG and 6.29 for Bayern. So, given the attacking nature of both sides, I am going for 10 or more flag kicks.

Luis Diaz Over 0.5 Fouls

It is fair to say that Liverpool has missed Luis Diaz on a number of levels since he moved to Bayern Munich. Diaz has recorded nine goal involvements in the Champions League and 28 in the Bundesliga. He is also a hardworking, competitive player. This has led to him averaging 1.24 fouls per 90 minutes in the Champions League and 1.38 fouls per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga.

Diaz played for 45 minutes on Saturday and committed three fouls. His last few matches have seen him commit at least a foul a game, even when he has come off the bench or has been substituted. I am confident he will register at least one foul against PSG, especially as he is likely to be tasked with tracking back against Achraf Hakimi.
