England’s first warm-up fixture for the 2026 World Cup kicks off on Saturday, 6th June, against New Zealand in Tampa, Florida. As an England fan, I’m hopeful that Thomas Tuchel is seeing these two games as ways to tweak his starting XI rather than overhaul ahead of the opening game against Croatia. But it still feels like there are spots up for grabs, which brings a bit of intrigue, if nothing else. My bet builder is live, so let’s jump in.

Bet 1: Harry Kane to Score

What a predictable start to my England vs New Zealand bet builder, but here we are. If England are going to win their first major tournament in 60 years, captain Harry Kane needs to be in top form.

Let’s face it, if he’s not, we’re going to struggle as the jury is still well and truly out on both Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney as his replacement.

Kane should get the nod to start on Saturday and will likely get a rest in the second game against Costa Rica. I’ll be honest, I don’t love 4/7 to score anytime, but he’s England’s record scorer for a reason, is one of the favourites for World Cup top goalscorer and he’s been on fire this season for both club and country.

Bet 2: England Over 6.5 Corners

Since Tuchel took charge in October 2024, he’s been very keen to utilise the array of wide players at his disposal. The likes of Anthony Gordon, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Noni Madueke have played key roles in how the German sets up his teams.

As a result, the number of corners that they’ve won has spiked. We can get around even money with the best World Cup betting sites for over 6.5 corners, which, based on past performances, looks incredible value.

To put that into some sort of context, they have cleared this line in eight of their last 10 games, so this feels a pretty easy pick to include.

Bet 3: England to Win by 3+ Goals

I spent a bit of time on Wednesday randomly watching the highlights of New Zealand’s 4-0 drubbing against Haiti, and to say they were poor would be a huge understatement. That second-half display was one of the worst I’ve seen, and while, to be fair to the Haitians, they looked solid enough to cause Scotland an issue or two in their World Cup Group C game, England is (hopefully) going to be an even bigger step up.

England have been clinical, without really stepping on the gas in the qualifying campaign, and Tuchel was clearly frustrated at his side’s draw with Uruguay and loss to Japan. But it’s go time now; heads will be firmly screwed on, and I don’t think it’s outrageous to say they will win by 3 or more goals on Saturday.

Odds of even money for this market look really fair and make up the final pick for my England vs New Zealand bet builder.
