Sick of hearing about the World Cup? Join the club! Thankfully there’s another event to look forward to in the States this weekend, as the UFC takes over the White House for a special event. To spice things up even further, I’ve found three tasty bets. Let’s jump in.

Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu will reportedly be together at the White House this weekend, but instead of striking a peace deal with Iran, the duo will be watching a blockbuster UFC event… right from Trump’s garden.

I used one of the best online bookies, William Hill, to get the latest odds on my selections. A £10 stake offers a potential return of over £50. Not bad.

Market Odds (Bookmaker) Return for £10
Ilia Topuria KO Win vs Justin Gaethje 2/5 (William Hill) £14.00
Cyril Gane to Beat Alex Pereira 10/11 (William Hill) £19.09
Sean O’Mally Decision Win vs Aiemann Zahabi 19/20 (William Hill) £19.50
Acca 4.21/1 (William Hill) £52.10

Bet 1: Ilia Topuria to Win by KO

Backing Ilia Topuria to win by knockout is a no brainer.

The UFC superstar is arguably the most explosive striker in MMA right now, coming off three straight knockout wins against top-tier opposition.

The only minor concern relates to Topuria’s time away from the octagon and the myriad of personal problems he endured during that time. Anyone who has experienced divorce will undoubtedly sympathise.

One man who couldn’t give a proverbial f**k is Justin Gaethje. The 37-year-old comes into this fight as the interim champion for the second time in his career. Some would argue this is his last shot at winning the strap outright… no pressure.

Truth be told, Gaethje is not the same athlete he was a few years ago. Attacking the legs and trying to slow the fight down is probably the way to go, but that is a lot easier said than done when you’ve got one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet trying to knock your head off.

Why is the White House Hosting a UFC Event?

President Donald Trump is not only a fan of the UFC, but he is also very close with the organisation's chief, Dana White. With America celebrating their 250th anniversary, a decision was made to host a historic MMA show at the White House, with thousands of guests expected to attend.

Bet 2: Cyril Gane to Beat Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira moves up to heavyweight for the first time in his professional career as he looks to become the UFC’s first three-weight world champion.

That all sounds great, until you realise that the man standing across from him is a 6ft 5in, 250lbs beast by the name of Cyril Gane.

To cut a long story short, Gane is unbelievably durable, has never been knocked out, and is one of the most complete athletes in the sport. What’s more, he has a mean eye poke… just ask Tom Aspinall.

Pereira, who has a highlight reel of brutal knockouts, cannot be easily dismissed. However, will his power have the same impact over 25 minutes at heavyweight? I don’t think it will.

Gane is priced at 10/11 to win the fight, and I’m backing the Frenchman.

Lightweight Bout: Mauricio Ruffy vs Michael Chandler

Middleweight Bout: Bo Nickal vs Kyle Daukaus

Bet 3: Sean O’Malley Decision Win vs Aiemann Zahabi

My third and final tip at the White House is for Sean O’Malley to earn a decision win over Aiemann Zahabi.

The American has every advantage: the footwork, the reach, the jab… and so on.

As Merab Dvalishvili proved, the best way to beat O’Malley is by utilising relentless wrestling pressure. Unfortunately for Zahabi, he doesn’t have that in his locker.

Putting that aside, the Canadian bantamweight is extremely tough. The vast majority of his UFC fights have gone the distance, and I’m expecting that trend to continue.
