Celtic get their Scottish Premiership title defence underway on Monday night at home to Dundee FC. It’s been a rather turbulent offseason for The Bhoys, as a lack of pace and direction in the transfer window and the fact that they failed to win any of their pre-season games has caused fans to pile more pressure on an already weighted-down boardroom.
For Dundee FC, they will be looking to build on a superb eighth last time out. Steven Pressley was duly awarded a new contract after being backed by the board with six signings, all vying for a first team start. From a betting perspective, the opener is always a tricky one to call, but as ever, I’ve got a handful of bets that I like as part of my Celtic vs Dundee FC betting tips, so let’s jump right in.

Bet 1 – Celtic -1 Handicap
I’d be really surprised to see Dundee FC get the better of Celtic again, as they did in the first meeting between the two sides last season. It was a bit of a strange game – a classic smash and grab, if you will. 23 shots in total weren’t enough for Celtic to chalk, but you have to give credit to Dundee, who managed to frustrate and take their chances.
Celtic followed this up with two more wins, one at home and one away. Martin O’Neill will be desperate for a good start to silence some of the outside noise, and taking them on here in the HT/FT market looks the right play to me.
They are 1/5 to win outright with the best betting sites, but we can improve on that by having them winning at half-time and then full-time at 3/5. It’s not a massive price by any means, but enough to kick things off with our bet builder.
Bet 2 – Camilo Duran to Score Anytime
There’s been a lot of hype around record signing Kasper Hogh landing at Celtic Park. A much-needed marquee addition to the squad for O’Neill and co. but given that he’s essentially had no pre-season with the team after his official announcement on Tuesday, he might not start, so one to avoid.
Alternatively, you’ve got Camilo Duran, who has been one of the few standouts in pre-season. He bagged against Sporting, Middlesbrough and AC Milan, on the back of 15 goals and 10 assists for Qarabag last season.
Priced at 8/11 to score anytime looks solid enough for pick number two.
Bet 3 – Both Teams to Score – Yes
Celtic’s defensive issues from last season don’t seem to have been resolved. They failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their friendlies, and I realise that you can’t take too much from these games, but it was the same mistakes that almost led to Hearts winning their first Scottish Premiership title since 1960.
Initially I’d set my sights on the total goals markets, but it’s hard to get excited about 1/3 for over 2.5 and even 5/6 for over 3.5. Getting 4/5 for both teams to score makes a lot more sense.
Bet 4 – Under 11.5 Corners
The numbers need to stack up for the corners betting market, and I don’t often back the under here, but the odds are just too good to pass up.
The under 11.5 corner market is really interesting. In the last 10 meetings between the two sides, the line has only been covered three times. If we condense that down to the last seven head-to-heads, then the number reduces to just a single game.
It feels like a massive line to be getting involved with this early in the season, so taking under 11.5 corners at odds of 4/6 is my last betting tip for Celtic vs Dundee FC.
