Bet 1: Morocco to Win the Group

Brazil are the big favourites to win Group C, but with the five-time champs priced at 1/6, there’s no betting interest.

Question is, can I make a realistic case for anyone else? You know what, I think I can.

There’s a big asterisk next to Morocco’s name at this FIFA World Cup, given they qualified for the tournament after a dodgy AFCON victory. However, putting that aside, there’s lots to like about the African side.

Morocco have not lost an international match in normal time since January 2024. On top of that, they have only conceded three goals across their last 11 outings.

Let’s not forget that the Atlas Lions also enjoyed a remarkable run to the World Cup semi-final in 2022, while their meeting with Brazil in 2023 ended in a 2-1 victory.

Speaking of the Brazilians, all their hype overshadows the fact they have failed to win four of their last nine games, with Carlo Ancelotti’s men slipping up against Bolivia, Japan, Tunisia and France.

Morocco’s first game of the World Cup comes against Brazil, and if they can muster at least a point, there’s a realistic chance they could go on to win the group. At 4/1 with some of the best football betting sites, I think they’re worth the risk.

Bet 2: Scotland to Qualify

Winning the group might be a bit of a stretch for a Scotland side that is embarking on their first World Cup campaign since 1998, but there’s no reason why the Tartan Army can’t push for knockout football.

The Scots open their tournament against Haiti, which is a fixture they are fully expected to win.

If things go to plan, Steve Clarke’s men will have three points in the bag before their games against Brazil and Morocco. One more point from those two fixtures would at the very least put the Scots in the hunt to be among the top eight third-placed teams.

Priced at 4/11, I’m backing Scotland to enter uncharted waters and compete in the knockout stage for the first time ever.
